Hello, my name is Zy'Nasia! Most people call me Zy for short. I am a proud African American high school senior at William T Dwyer High School. As the oldest of seven siblings, I am not only the first in my family to pursue higher education but also the first to graduate from college, breaking barriers that my parents could not due to their dedication to providing for our family. This responsibility has fueled my determination to set a positive example for my younger siblings and for others in my community.
Throughout my academic journey, I have discovered my passion for mathematics. I am not only good at math, but I also love it. Math has always been my favorite subject, and I believe it holds the key to financial empowerment and generational wealth. Starting in middle school, I began volunteering to help younger students grasp the language of math, bridging the gap for those who found it challenging. I believe that a strong foundation in math is crucial for personal financial literacy and success in life.
My long-term goal is to become a financial banker, where I can empower individuals in my community with the knowledge of personal finances and investment strategies. My vision is to increase the odds for people in my community to create generational wealth by providing them with the tools and insights needed to make informed financial decisions. I am driven to break down financial barriers and ensure that everyone has access to the knowledge and resources necessary to secure their financial future.

As I stand on the precipice of my high school graduation, I can't help but reflect on the incredible journey that has brought me to this pivotal moment in my life. It's not just about the cap and gown; it's about the path I've chosen, one that leads me toward becoming a finance banker with a passion for spreading financial literacy and helping others achieve lasting wealth.
Growing up, I quickly realized that there's a gap in our educational system when it comes to financial literacy. They teach us algebra and chemistry, but somehow, they overlook the basics of personal finance. It's like trying to run a marathon with a blindfold on - you're bound to stumble! It's an omission that I've decided to address head-on. My determination to bridge this gap stems from my belief that every person, regardless of their background, deserves the chance to create a secure financial future.
In my pursuit of knowledge and community betterment, I've made it a mission to lend a helping hand wherever I can. Inside my school's walls, I've volunteered countless hours assisting my math teachers in guiding younger students who are grappling with numbers and equations. It's been a rewarding experience to watch eyes light up when they finally 'get' math. It’s like witnessing a magic trick!. Over the years, I've accumulated more than 300 community service hours doing this good deed, but the true reward lies in knowing I've made a difference in their educational journeys.
However, my commitment to helping others doesn't stop at the classroom door. At home, I've taken on responsibilities beyond my years, stepping up to help care for my five younger siblings after my mother's life-altering motor vehicle accident years ago. It's a role I've embraced with love and resilience, and it's taught me the value of family, hard work, and dedication. (Plus, it's given me some excellent negotiation skills - have you ever tried getting five kids to agree on pizza toppings? It's a challenge!)
Looking forward, I see a future where I can amplify my impact on my community. As a finance banker, I plan to use my expertise not just to maximize profits for clients, but to empower individuals with the knowledge and tools they need to secure their financial futures. So many people are not privy to this vital information, and I believe it's my responsibility to share it. It's about more than just dollars and cents; it's about giving people the means to pursue their dreams, no matter how big or small. After all, financial freedom is like a passport to endless possibilities, and I want to be the one handing out those passports!
In conclusion, my life's journey has led me to a profound understanding of the importance of helping others. Whether it's through volunteering in my school, supporting my family at home, or the aspirations I hold for my career in finance, my commitment to making a positive impact on the lives of those around me is unwavering. Laughter and smiles are just as important as numbers and formulas, and I believe that by helping others, we can create a world where everyone has the chance to laugh a little more and worry a little less about their financial future.
I believe that the JBI tax service scholarship would not only provide me with the financial support I need for my college education but also the opportunity to continue my mission of promoting financial literacy and community empowerment. Thank you for considering my application.
