Adopting the Power of Words in Sports:
The Journey of a Journalist
My name is Zoey, but everyone calls me zee. I'm a vigorous Mass Communication major specializing in Sports Journalism. For as long as I can remember, sports have been a critical aspect of my life. Whether it was playing basketball with my mates at the park, Cheerleading at school, or running track, the elements of sports has forever seized my spirit and imagination.
Pursuing Sports Broadcasting and Journalism was never a difficult decision for me to make. i have always been mesmerized by the capacity of words to encourage, inform, and bring people together. Sports have a tradition of outperforming limitations of culture, speech, and landscape, uniting individuals with a shared devotion. I will harness the strength of storytelling to relate with others, evoke emotions, and shed light on the incredible stories that unfold in the world of sports.
I am most passionate about the opportunity to give a voice to athletes and share their voyage with the world. I feel that behind every winning shot, record-breaking performance, or heartbreaking defeat lies a compelling story awaiting to be told.
The most significant experience that enthused my love for sports journalism my chance to interview a teen basketball player who overcame tremendous odds to dominate success on the court. Hearing his story of perseverance, resolute, and determination not only inspired me but also enforced my belief in the transformative power of sports.
Moreover, another unforgettable experience of mine was covering a local college football game, at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette, where the team staged a remarkable comeback in the final minutes and secured a stunning victory. The raw emotions, the jubilation of the crowd, and the adrenaline rush of witnessing such a dramatic moment solidified my passion for capturing the magic of sports through words/ storytelling.
My journey as a Sports Journalism major has been a rewarding and fulfilling one, piled with remarkable moments, inspiring stories, and a deep appreciation for the strength of words in the world of sports. I’m excited to continue expanding my wisdom, honing my skills, and making a meaningful impact in the profession of sports journalism, one storyline at a time. As I embark on this challenging yet exciting path, I am confident that my love for sports and storytelling will guide me towards a successful and fulfilling career in Sports Broadcasting.
