"A State of Mind" Texas Scholarship
Being a Texan means community spirit, helping those who need it most, and being part of a state where you can't help but feel an immense sense of pride. Being a Texan means being blessed to be surrounded by the most beautiful cities and sites, whether it's the history of towns and cities that help build the United States, to the scenic magnificence of our state parks and nature.
As an immigrant, being a Texan meant learning and continuing to learn the cuisine and what it means in terms of bringing family and friends together, sharing the food I had never tried before, and enjoying ordering or cooking new foods that have now become a weekly staple.
It did not take very long to feel at home in Texas, the locals embraced my differences and I have enjoyed and will continue to enjoy learning everything there is to know about Texas and the people who so proudly call Texas home. The stars are big and bright, the sky is wide and high, and the sage in bloom is like perfume - Deep in the heart of Texas.
