Hello! I'm Yvonne Hernandez, a US-born Colombian and Mexican/Native American dreaming of becoming a Cybersecurity Analyst and Engineer. I became interested in the world of coding, computer science, and engineering because my father, a first-generation immigrant from Colombia, went back to school to become the skilled software engineer he is today. I was lucky to be raised by such an incredible role model; I know not every girl and woman has the same in their life to envision themselves in a STEM career. My vision for the future involves creating opportunities for women and impoverished communities to better access classes and certifications for a career in STEM and, separate from that, beginning food security across the country. When I'm not doing schoolwork and studying for CompTIA certifications, I'm sharpening my mind through related reading and my body through weightlifting. I also enjoy gaming in my occasional free time!
