My name is Yen. I'm majoring in Computer Science and will be transferring to UA in Fall 2022. I'm just a beginner in the tech world but I've had a passion for programming since I was a kid. I struggled to find my path when I first entered college and was stuck for a year without knowing which degree to get. I remember the old days when I played computer for the first time in 2008, so I switched my major to CS. I also minor in Game Development and Design.
My hobby is reading books about crime and detective stories. I absolutely love puzzle games, even though I'm bad at that. But I want to challenge myself and practice my thinking skill to improve myself more!

I Can Do Anything Scholarship
The dream version of my future self is someone who has a deep understanding of computer science and is able to invent new technologies like a scientist, while also maintaining an optimistic outlook on life.
Women in Tech Scholarship
After graduating from Amphitheater High School in 2019, I applied to Pima Community College to complete an Associate Degree in Applied Science. I plan to transfer to the University of Arizona in Fall 2022 to pursue my bachelor's degree in Computer Science. I'm interested in the “curtain” behind computers and modern technology. I also have a great passion that is participating in artificial intelligence and learning more about how computers work as well as establishing a new interface for the community. Game development and design are also what I am aiming for. When developing a game, I can put what I have learned into practice. Then users can experience and rate it, based on that I can draw a lot of experience. I admire what technology has done for the world up to now. The development of machines as well as the combination of modern technology to create electric vehicles is a really impressive milestone for me!
I'm started to learn to code in the last few years, my goal is to see how the knowledge I learned will be put into practice. I read many books on programming languages, learned about games, and applied what I learned to small projects. I've tried making 2D games, even though I'm just a beginner, I feel quite proud of what I've accomplished. I participated in coding challenges and learned many new things and tips that can help me to be more stable in this learning path. Education is the first step that has greatly contributed to me opening a clearer vision of my goal. I set a goal for myself, nothing but study, study more, study forever! Only then will I have the opportunity to apply for the job I want.
Moreover, I hope to gain the experiences and skills that I will learn through my career. Not only that, I want to broaden my horizons further and become an expert in my own chosen field. I also have a long-term goal for myself, which is to open a studio create my own business. The world is developing very fast and there will be many generations that cannot keep up with modernity. In the future, I want to use what I've learned in my career to make it easier for people to understand how machines and technology work. Through my career, the thing that means the most to me is fulfilling the passion that I have pursued until now.
Lo Easton's “Wrong Answers Only” Scholarship
1. I deserve this scholarship because I find myself answering the wrong answers many times but yet not give up. Wrong answer is what part of the correct answers. It's a process to get to the actual answer.
2. My top priority is always education. My academic goal is to get a Computer Science degree. Once I get my degree, I will show it to my high school teachers and my family! My career goal is to experience new things at work and establish my own business.
3. When I was in high school, I could not do math problem and I failed it. I scared going to class and felt that I'm not going to make it. I suck at math for more than half of my life since I was in first grade! But I made it. I stay away from negative thoughts and really focus on learning math. In 2019, I went to college and passed my Cal 1,2 without any problems. My new journey started from there. Computer Science is what I will going to learn after I overcome my fears of math.
