As a first-generation student being accepted into any UC university would be a dream come true for me. I come from an undocumented family that barely graduated middle school. Even though my parents have lived here for years, our biggest struggle has been the language barrier. I have always had the responsibility of translating everything my teachers wanted to communicate to my parents. This has made it difficult to take advantage of the academic possibilities that are out there waiting for me because they lack the knowledge to know my academic needs to support me. I belong to a family of seven who live in a house with two rooms in a low-income neighborhood in Oak Park. My living situation has always been difficult. I have slept in many places in my house but never in a bedroom, I can call my own. I've lived in an attic that got extremely hot during the summer and on a couch in my living room without privacy. Nowadays, I use an old broken RV that my parents used to rent to make extra money. My room is parked in the backyard and depend on a small heater to keep me warm on cold nights. I haven't had the ideal space, academic, or economic support in my years as a student throughout my entire life. I have two sisters who have already tried to pursue the community college route but ended up dropping out to start working in order to pay for their education. My parents involuntarily held my sisters back from going to universities because they didn't know that outside are social, economic, and academic resources for us. My sisters didn’t know where to look for opportunities or who to talk to. Today I want to believe that I have a better chance because I’m using all my resources to find scholarships and grants. I've seen my sister's story and I plan to take a different route. I want to apply to universities that will challenge me and educate me. I want to give it my all to be capable of saying I started the change in my family. I'm not the only one in my family to try to change our circumstances, but today it is my turn. My situation motivates me to achieve the life my parents wanted for us and themselves when they decided to come to the United States. This inspires me to put more effort into furthering my education because I strongly believe education will give me the opportunity to grow as a person and professionally. I want to pursue a career to show my parents that their efforts and struggles to come to this country weren't for granted. We have suffered great struggles already, and I think the time to change the page is here today.

They have transformed into symbols of personal expression, craftsmanship, and heritage. Despite the prevalence of digital devices, watches maintain their relevance by offering a unique blend of style, tradition, and practical utility. As we navigate an increasingly digital landscape, the enduring appeal of wristwatches suggests that their significance is not just about telling time but also about telling a story of individuality and timeless elegance.
    Elevate Mental Health Awareness Scholarship
I came from an elementary school that struggled with state scores and education gaps, so I was not prepared for middle school where assignments are more academically challenging. I was not prepared to give my full potential. Middle school was a whole new field for me. The amount of workload my teachers said they would assign us wasn't my normal amount and quickly tensed up. I got home that day and began to stress out a lot. I stopped eating for a while, drinking water, taking care of myself, and stopped talking to my family to focus on school work and not to let them see me cry. I calmed myself down for a little bit. In December of 7th grade, my teacher assigned a project after reading a book. I felt my eyes welling up with tears. I could not handle the workload, I felt incompetent and stressed. My heart was racing at what felt like 100 miles per hour, I couldn't breathe normally for a couple of minutes. At that moment, I realized I was academically behind compared to the expected writing level. I was ashamed to ask for help, I had no one to ask. This took a huge toll on my mental health. I could not depend on my parents for support since they only spoke Spanish and didn't know anything about school but most importantly I prayed to God to help me overcome this challenge. I finally decided to ask my teacher for support. She helped me break down the project into smaller parts. I invested double the amount of hours expected in the project. I had no other options to cope with my lack of writing skills. I needed to compensate for my lack of knowledge and skills through determination and newly founded disciplined hard work. I received a perfect score. This experience has taught me how to manage my time and developed the skill of motivating myself to overcome any assignment. I learned to look for academic support when needed because unfortunately, my parents are not academically prepared to guide me. Overcoming the fear of seeking support, helped me to see my assignments as achievable when facing challenges. Her help with my mental health was amazing, I couldn't thank her enough. Not only that but praying to God helped me so much because without him I couldn't have done it. His love and his guidance have helped me so much over the years. I can't do anything without him, I am nothing without my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Not being ready was not going to define my success, my determination to transform the outcomes did. This experience transformed me from being unprepared for a project to becoming one of the top students in my 2024 class by achieving a GPA of 4.2 and ranking 17th out of 529 students. This experience has helped me believe that I can succeed in my career opportunities at UC's despite any academic challenge that I may encounter because I now know my capabilities and believe in myself. Almost everyone knows this very famous bible verse Philippians 4:13, it says, "I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me" and it's completely true.

Improving relationships between law enforcement agencies and the African American population in the United States requires a multifaceted approach that addresses systemic issues, builds trust, and promotes accountability and transparency. Here are several strategies that can help achieve this goal: 1. Community Policing and Engagement: Law enforcement agencies should adopt community policing strategies that emphasize building relationships with community members. Officers should engage in regular, positive interactions with residents, attending community events, and participating in local activities. This helps humanize officers and residents to each other and builds mutual trust and respect. 2. Bias Training and Education: All law enforcement personnel should undergo comprehensive training on implicit bias, cultural competence, and de-escalation techniques. Understanding and addressing personal and systemic biases can help reduce discriminatory practices and improve interactions with African American communities. 3. Accountability and Transparency: Law enforcement agencies must be transparent about their operations and hold officers accountable for misconduct. Implementing body-worn cameras, establishing independent review boards for incidents involving police violence, and making data on stops, arrests, and use of force publicly available can help build trust through accountability. 4. Community Oversight: Creating community oversight boards that include representatives from the African American community can provide a platform for residents to voice concerns and participate in shaping police policies and practices. These boards can offer insights and recommendations to improve policing and ensure that community perspectives are considered. 5. Recruitment and Hiring Practices: Diversifying law enforcement agencies by actively recruiting and hiring more African American officers and officers from other minority groups can help bridge cultural gaps and improve understanding. Having a police force that reflects the community it serves can enhance trust and communication. 6. Mental Health and Social Services: Integrating mental health professionals and social workers into law enforcement responses can improve outcomes in situations involving mental health crises, homelessness, and substance abuse. These professionals can provide specialized care and support, reducing the need for forceful police interventions. 7. Policy Reform: Reforming policies that disproportionately affect African American communities is crucial. This includes revising use-of-force policies, ending practices like racial profiling and stop-and-frisk, and ensuring fair and just treatment in all policing activities. 8. Community-Led Initiatives: Supporting and funding community-led safety initiatives can empower residents to take an active role in their own safety and well-being. Programs like neighborhood watch groups, youth outreach, and conflict resolution can complement police efforts and foster a sense of shared responsibility. 9. Restorative Justice Programs: Implementing restorative justice programs can provide alternative ways to address conflict and harm within the community. These programs focus on healing and reconciliation rather than punishment, promoting stronger, more resilient communities. 10. Open Dialogue and Listening: Law enforcement agencies should create forums for open dialogue with African American communities, where residents can express their concerns, experiences, and suggestions. Listening to the community and showing a genuine commitment to addressing their issues can build trust and improve relationships. Conclusion: Improving relationships between law enforcement agencies and the African American population requires sustained effort, genuine commitment, and systemic change. By implementing these strategies, law enforcement agencies can work towards building trust, ensuring justice, and fostering a more inclusive and equitable society.

Powering The Future - Whiddon Memorial Scholarship
In my first year of high school, I took Molecular Biology, and my interest in animals flourished when I learned about Finches in the Galapagos island. I was astonished by studying how the environment they lived in influenced their beak depth, diversifying their population. My fascination with animals branched into Zoology/ veterinary when I chose my major. I always found animals interesting because they are different and extraordinary creatures not only biologically but also their behavioral characteristics. I admire their survival skills to adapt despite humans constantly altering their environment. Outside the classroom, I often found myself reading articles about the relationship between animals and humans. Despite not having in-person experience, I often see documentaries and study research related to the animal kingdom. I keep trying to understand not only our world but also the interactions among us. It keeps me thinking about how we can coexist and preserve our habitats. I worry knowing that climate change and population will have major effects on animals' habitats. My values, as a human being, are to respect the ecosystem, and environment, to care for animals, and to conserve and manage wilderness areas where animals thrive. As a future zoologist, my dream is to be prepared to contribute my knowledge to the conservation of endangered species. I hope to inspire people to learn the correct way to respect and care for animals and their habitats. I am extremely motivated to stress the importance of what animal interactions do for the ecosystem. In the future, I want to work in a space filled with animals and wilderness areas, whether it is studying animal behavior or researching the impact animals have on our environment. One day, I want to say I collaborated with others to preserve nature and biodiversity. I want to be a part of that change. I want to make the world a better place and it starts with our environment and helping out the creatures that are also affected by the things we've discovered and accomplished in this world. I come from an undocumented family that barely graduated middle school. Even though my parents have lived here for years, our biggest struggle has been the language barrier. I can't wait until I have the honor to work with animals and learn about their behavior.
Growing up in the Family Restaurant Business Scholarship
My experience working in a family restaurant has profoundly shaped who I am today, influencing my values, work ethic, and perspective on the restaurant industry. Growing up in a family deeply rooted in the culinary world, I was exposed to the inner workings of a restaurant from a young age. From bustling dinner rushes to late-night cleanups, I witnessed firsthand the highs and lows of the restaurant business, gaining valuable insights that continue to inform my approach to life and work. One of the most significant impacts of my experience in a family restaurant is the importance of hard work and dedication. In a small, family-owned establishment, every member of the team plays a crucial role in ensuring the restaurant's success. Whether it was bussing tables, taking orders, or washing dishes, I learned the value of rolling up my sleeves and pitching in wherever needed. This hands-on experience instilled in me a strong work ethic and a sense of responsibility that has carried over into all aspects of my life. Moreover, working in a family restaurant taught me the importance of hospitality and customer service. In a competitive industry where word-of-mouth can make or break a business, providing exceptional service and creating memorable dining experiences are paramount. I learned the art of anticipating guests' needs, cultivating relationships with regulars, and handling challenging situations with grace and professionalism. These interpersonal skills have proven invaluable in my personal and professional interactions, fostering empathy, communication, and teamwork. In terms of changes I would like to see in the restaurant industry, there are several areas where innovation and improvement are needed. Firstly, I believe there is a need for greater emphasis on sustainability and environmental stewardship. The restaurant industry is notorious for its high levels of food waste, energy consumption, and carbon emissions. Implementing eco-friendly practices such as sourcing local and organic ingredients, reducing single-use plastics, and composting food scraps can help mitigate the environmental impact of restaurants and promote sustainability. Additionally, I would like to see greater efforts to address issues of equity and inclusivity within the restaurant industry. Despite being a diverse and multicultural field, the restaurant industry is plagued by systemic inequalities and disparities, particularly in terms of wages, opportunities for advancement, and representation. Investing in fair labor practices, providing training and mentorship programs for underrepresented groups, and promoting diversity and inclusion in hiring and leadership roles can help create a more equitable and inclusive industry for all. Furthermore, technological innovation presents exciting opportunities for revolutionizing the restaurant experience. From online ordering and delivery platforms to mobile payment systems and digital marketing strategies, technology has the potential to streamline operations, enhance efficiency, and improve customer engagement. Embracing digital tools and platforms can help restaurants adapt to changing consumer preferences and navigate the challenges posed by the digital age. In conclusion, my experience with a family restaurant has shaped my values, work ethic, and perspective on the restaurant industry. Through hard work, dedication, and a commitment to hospitality, I learned invaluable lessons that continue to inform my approach to life and work. Moving forward, I am passionate about driving positive change in the restaurant industry by promoting sustainability, equity, inclusivity, and innovation. By working together to address these challenges, we can create a more vibrant, resilient, and inclusive restaurant industry for the future.
    Billy Downey Memorial Agriculture Scholarship
Agriculture is the backbone of communities worldwide, playing a crucial role in supporting livelihoods, providing food security, and fostering economic development. The impact of agriculture on communities is multifaceted, ranging from its direct contributions to food production to its broader implications for social, environmental, and economic well-being. At its core, agriculture ensures food security by producing the crops and livestock essential for human consumption. In many communities, especially in rural areas, agriculture is not only a source of sustenance but also a primary source of income for farmers and their families. By cultivating crops and raising livestock, farmers not only feed their communities but also contribute to local economies through the sale of agricultural products. This economic activity stimulates growth in related sectors, such as agribusiness, transportation, and retail, creating employment opportunities and generating income streams that support the community. Moreover, agriculture plays a significant role in shaping the social fabric of communities. Farming often fosters a sense of community cohesion and interdependence, as farmers frequently rely on each other for support, knowledge sharing, and collective action. Agricultural practices rooted in tradition and cultural heritage also contribute to the preservation of local identities and customs, strengthening the social bonds within communities. Beyond its immediate social and economic impacts, agriculture also has profound environmental implications. Sustainable agricultural practices, such as crop rotation, soil conservation, and integrated pest management, contribute to environmental stewardship by preserving soil health, conserving water resources, and reducing greenhouse gas emissions. Additionally, agroforestry and reforestation initiatives associated with agriculture can enhance biodiversity, mitigate climate change, and promote ecosystem resilience, thereby safeguarding the natural resources upon which communities depend. Looking ahead, agriculture will continue to play a pivotal role in shaping the future of communities, albeit with evolving challenges and opportunities. As the global population grows and urbanization accelerates, the demand for food will rise, placing increasing pressure on agricultural systems to enhance productivity while minimizing environmental impacts. In this context, technological innovations, such as precision agriculture, genetic engineering, and digital farming solutions, hold promise for optimizing resource use, improving yields, and reducing agricultural waste. Furthermore, addressing issues of food insecurity, rural poverty, and inequitable access to land and resources will be essential for fostering inclusive and sustainable development. Empowering smallholder farmers, particularly women and marginalized groups, through access to education, finance, and market opportunities can unlock their potential as drivers of economic growth and social progress. Additionally, promoting agroecological approaches that prioritize biodiversity, soil health, and resilience can help build more resilient and adaptive food systems capable of withstanding environmental shocks and climate variability. In conclusion, agriculture's impact on communities is profound and multifaceted, encompassing food security, economic development, social cohesion, and environmental sustainability. By embracing innovation, fostering inclusivity, and prioritizing sustainability, agriculture can continue to support and strengthen communities, ensuring a brighter future for generations to come

Earning the "North Star Dreamers Memorial Scholarship" would help me achieve my life-long dream of working with animals. This would cover some of my tuition when going to a university to learn about animals, their habitats, and how to conserve their habitats. It would be another less $1000 I have to worry about because I deserve my education after all the hard work and tears I put in for high school. Empowerment to me is allowing someone to improve her/his lifestyle and outlook- socially, educationally, culturally, and politically. It encourages people to gain the skills and knowledge that will allow them to overcome obstacles in life or work environment and ultimately, help them develop within themselves or in society. Empowerment has also enabled me to recognize and utilize my strengths, fostering a sense of autonomy and self-determination. Overall, empowerment has been a driving force in shaping my mindset and guiding my actions toward growth and fulfillment. I've lived in an extremely hot attic during the summer and on a couch in my living room without privacy. Nowadays, I use an old broken RV that my parents used to rent to make extra money. I haven't had the ideal space, academic, or economic support in my student years throughout my life. We have suffered great struggles already, and I think the time to change the page is

Ethel Hayes Destigmatization of Mental Health Scholarship
I could not depend on my parents for support since they only spoke Spanish and didn't know anything about school. I finally decided to ask my teacher for support. She assisted me in breaking down the project into smaller parts. Not being ready was not going to define my success, my determination to transform the outcomes did. This experience transformed me from being unprepared for a project to becoming one of the top students in my 2024 class by achieving a GPA of 4.2 and ranking 17th out of 529 students. This experience has helped me believe that I can succeed in my career opportunities at UC's despite any academic challenge

During 10th grade, I was offered the position to coach the middle school girl's lacrosse team for an organization I played for the prior year. Not many girls signed up to play in my 10th-grade year, so I was allowed to join their team. My responsibility was to motivate and prepare them for the games while ensuring they had fun. The team had a wide range of knowledge and skilled players with many girls with low self-confidence and a lack of skills. Leveling them up was tough, and creating spaces to connect was urgent to break the ice. I started with the basics, getting to know each other to strengthen our bond. We had extra practices to focus on those who needed more support and we put in an additional separate schedule to reinforce self-esteem. We recognized our areas of growth and used our strengths to overcome emotional fears and physical challenges. I encouraged the girls to set goals every two weeks and I would discuss our progress and areas for improvement. We won our very first game with a score of 15-3, marking an incredible start to our season. However, we faced losses. Many of the girls became disheartened, including myself. We were losing the confidence we had just developed. It was a wake-up call for me. As their coach, I encouraged these girls to play their hearts out no matter the scoreboard. This experience taught me that being a great leader means persevering through the challenges. Our team developed a new mentality with my leadership and restored positive self-esteem. We redefined the idea of winning, not as being at the top, or the scoreboard, but rather about working towards goals as a team and having fun. My leadership positively impacted team growth. As a freshman, I noticed a decline in school spirit and student engagement due to Covid-19. Our Associated Student Body (ASB), was hosting a rally. I was excited but noticed many students were not as interested or as excited. ASB Officers did their best, and their effort to think of an online rally and plan the virtual games was inspiring. I joined ASB. My teacher and I were motivated to bring school spirit. I contacted past officers to get their insight about past rallies. We decided on a winter rally and leading up to the rally would be spirit days. As the days went on, I noticed a change in the atmosphere of my school. Students were eager to participate and began to dress up during spirit week. The first rally was a huge success, with students from all grade levels coming together to celebrate. The energy was infectious, and it felt like we had rekindled some of the school spirit, but more needed to be done. I planned to organize fundraisers throughout the school year for our junior prom that was happening the following year. With the help of others I organized these fundraisers at school; Halloween grams, chocolate box sales, paletas, concha with hot chocolate, and reached out to local businesses for sponsorship. With the money we raised, we covered the costs of decorations for Junior prom. Looking back, this experience shaped me in many ways. It taught me the importance of taking initiative and working towards a common goal. It showed me the power of community and coming together can significantly impact. Finally, it made me realize, I can make a difference and create positive change. Being able to witness the transformation in my school has been incredibly rewarding. We can overcome any challenge and make our school a better place.

I come from an undocumented family that barely graduated middle school. Even though my parents have lived here for years, our biggest struggle has been the language barrier. This has made it difficult to take advantage of the academic possibilities that are out there waiting for me since my parents are unaware of how to navigate the educational system, they became passive participants in my education and did not support me academically. l belong to a family of seven who live in a house with two rooms in Oak Park, one of Sacramento’s lowest-income neighborhoods. My living situation has always been difficult. I have lived in an attic that got hot during the summer and on a couch in my living room without privacy. Nowadays, I use an old, broken RV. Even though I have not had the ideal living or learning space throughout my life, I have still managed to thrive and focus on my education. My situation motivates me to achieve the life my parents wanted for us and themselves when they immigrated to the United States. I want to pursue a career to show my parents that their efforts and struggles to come to this country were not in vain. I want to apply to universities that will challenge me and educate me. Despite the barriers I have faced thus far, I am determined to utilize these hardships as further motivation to break the cycle. I want to give it my all to be capable of saying I not only started the change in my family but contributed to a more positive narrative about finding success no matter what circumstances one may face.

Highschool as everyone knows is pretty difficult but if you surround yourself with people who will go through thick and thin with you, your experience won't be too bad. In high school my freshman year, I took AP/ advanced classes. No one in my family has taken AP classes so I was going into this all alone. Once in those AP classes, I quickly noticed I was one of the only 3 other Latinas who also hesitantly decided to take AP classes. I took AP Spanish Language and Culture, AP Chemistry, Honors 10 and 11th English, Advanced Ceramics, AP United States Government and Politics, AP English Literature and Composition, and AP Statistics. My most challenging class was AP Chemistry; my only knowledge before taking that class was from freshman-year Biology. I needed lots of help but didn't have support from my family members. I was embarrassed because everyone else in my classes had help and emotional support from their parents meanwhile I was at home translating documents for my parents who only speak and read Spanish. I passed my AP Chemistry, Honors English 10th and 11th Spanish class with A's and I am about to finish all my other classes with A's.

I always found animals interesting because they are different and extraordinary creatures biologically and their behavioral characteristics. I admire their survival skills to adapt despite humans constantly altering their environment. My values, as a human being, are to respect the ecosystem, and environment, to care for animals, and to conserve and manage wilderness areas where animals thrive. As a future zoologist, I dream of being prepared to contribute my knowledge to the conservation of endangered species. Zoology is a field with never-ending learning material, the more you investigate the more knowledge you gain about how it is all connected. One day, I want to say I collaborated with others to preserve nature and biodiversity. I want to be a part of that change. I want to make the world a better place and it starts with our environment and helping out the creatures that are also affected by the things we've discovered and accomplished in this world. When people hear STEM most of us imagine robots, labs, engineering, and math. Many of us forget animal science and wildlife conservation are considered a part of STEM but not me. I came from an elementary school that struggled with state scores and education gaps, so I was not prepared for middle school where assignments are more academically challenging. I was not prepared to give my full potential. In 7th grade, my teacher assigned a project after reading a book. I felt my eyes welling up with tears. I could not handle the workload, I felt incompetent and stressed. At that moment, I realized that I was academically behind compared to the expected writing level. I felt far away from success. I was ashamed to ask for help, I had no one to ask. I could not depend on my parents for support since they only speak Spanish. I asked my teacher for support. She assisted me in breaking down the project into smaller parts. Overcoming the fear of seeking support helped me to see my assignments as achievable when facing challenges. Not being ready was not going to define my success, my determination to transform the outcomes of it did. I could not depend on my parents for support since they only spoke Spanish and didn't know anything about school. I finally decided to ask my teacher for support. She assisted me in breaking down the project into smaller parts. I invested double the amount of hours expected in the project. I had no other options to cope with my lack of writing skills. I needed to compensate for my lack of knowledge and skills through determination and newly founded disciplined hard work. I received a perfect score. Overcoming the fear of seeking support, helped me to see my assignments as achievable when facing challenges. Her help with my mental health was amazing, I couldn't thank her enough. Not only her but praying to God helped me so much because without him I couldn't have done it. I always found animals interesting because they are different and extraordinary creatures not only biologically but also their behavioral characteristics. Empowerment to me is allowing someone to improve her/his lifestyle and outlook- socially, educationally, culturally, and politically. It encourages people to gain the skills and knowledge that will allow them to overcome obstacles in life or work environment and ultimately, help them develop within themselves or in society. Personally, feeling empowered has helped me gain confidence in my abilities and decisions. It has encouraged me to take on challenges, pursue my goals, and advocate for myself and others. Empowerment has also enabled me to recognize and utilize my strengths, fostering a sense of autonomy and self-determination. Overall, empowerment has been a driving force in shaping my mindset and guiding my actions toward growth and fulfillment. This has made it difficult to take advantage of the academic possibilities that are out there waiting for me because since my parents are unaware of how to navigate the educational system, they became passive participants in my education and did not how to support me academically. l belong to a family of seven who all live in a house with two rooms in Oak Park, one of Sacramento’s lowest-income neighborhoods. My living situation has always been difficult. I have slept in many places in my house, but never in a bedroom I can call my own. I have lived in an attic that got extremely hot during the summer and on a couch in my living room without privacy. Nowadays, I use an old, broken RV. My room is parked in the backyard and I depend on a small heater to keep me warm on cold nights. Even though I have not had the ideal living or learning space throughout my life, I have still managed to thrive and focus on my education. I have two sisters who have already tried to pursue the community college route but ended up dropping out as they became overwhelmed by the pressures of life, the challenges of higher education, and the feeling that they needed to quit school in order to save money. Unfortunately, my parents unintentionally exacerbated this feeling for them as they were unaware of how to support them to find success. Determined to not follow this same path, I am connecting with counselors and other resources outside of my community to find out how to utilize the numerous social, emotional, economic, and academic resources that we qualify for. My situation motivates me to achieve the life my parents wanted for us and themselves when they immigrated to the United States. I want to pursue a career to show my parents that their efforts and struggles to come to this country were not in vain. Today, I believe that I have a better chance because I am using all my resources to find scholarships and grants. My city is very diverse. There is some racial tension but for the most part, everyone gets along well, especially when it comes to supporting the Kings games and lighting the Beam!

In my first year of high school, I took Molecular Biology, and my interest in animals flourished when I learned about Finches in the Galapagos island. I was astonished by studying how the environment they lived in influenced their beak depth, diversifying their population. My fascination with animals branched into Zoology when I chose my major. Zoology is a field with never-ending learning material, the more you investigate the more knowledge you gain about how it is all connected. Studying Zoology gives a voice to those who do not have one. I can't wait until I have the honor to work with animals and learn about their behavior.

At that moment, I realized I was academically behind compared to the expected writing level. I was ashamed to ask for help, I had no one to ask. I could not depend on my parents for support since they only speak Spanish. I asked my teacher for support but most importantly I prayed to God to help me overcome this challenge. She assisted me in breaking down the project into smaller parts. I invested double the amount of hours expected in the project. I had no other options to cope with my lack of writing skills. I needed to compensate for my lack of knowledge and skills through determination and newly founded disciplined hard work. I received a perfect score. Not only that but praying to God helped me so much because without him I couldn't have done it. His love and his guidance have helped me so much over the years. I can't do anything without him, I am nothing without my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Not being ready was not going to define my success, my determination to transform the outcomes of it did. This experience transformed me from being unprepared for a project to becoming one of the top students in my 2024 class by achieving a GPA of 4.2 and ranking 17th out of 529 students. This experience has helped me believe that I can succeed in my career opportunities at UC’s despite any academic challenge that I may encounter because I now know my capabilities and believe in myself.

I was not prepared to give my full potential. In 7th grade, my teacher assigned a project after reading a book. I felt my eyes welling up with tears. I could not handle the workload, I felt incompetent and stressed. At that moment, I realized I was academically behind compared to the expected writing level. I was ashamed to ask for help, I had no one to ask. I could not depend on my parents for support since they only speak Spanish. I asked my teacher for support. She assisted me in breaking down the project into smaller parts.

In my first year of high school I took Molecular Biology, and my interest in animals flourished when I learned about Finches in the Galapagos island. I was astonished by studying how the environment they lived in influenced their beak depth, diversifying their population. My fascination with animals branched into Zoology when I chose my major. I always found animals interesting because they are different and extraordinary creatures not only biologically but also their behavioral characteristics. I admire their survival skills to adapt despite humans constantly altering their environment. Outside the classroom, I often found myself reading articles about the relationship between animals and humans. Despite not having in person experience, I often see documentaries and study researches related to the animal kingdom. I keep trying to understand not only our world but also the interactions among us. It keeps me thinking about how we can coexist and preserve our habitats. I worry knowing that climate change and population will have major effects on animals' habitats. My values, as a human being, are to respect the ecosystem, environment, to care for animals, and to conserve and manage wilderness areas where animals thrive. Zoology is a field with never-ending learning material, the more you investigate the more knowledge you gain about how it is all connected. Studying Zoology gives a voice to those who do not have one. One day, I want to say I collaborated with others to preserve nature and biodiversity. I want to be a part of that change.

During my 10th grade, I was offered the position to coach the middle school girl's lacrosse team for an organization that I played for the prior year. Those who already knew how to play did great in supporting the growth of the other players. We won our very first game with a score of 15-3, marking an incredible start to our season. However, as the season progressed, we faced losses. Many of the girls became disheartened, including myself. We were losing the confidence we had just developed. It was a wake-up call for me. As their coach, I had to encourage these girls to play their hearts out no matter the scoreboard. I reminded them not only to play with passion but with joy. This experience taught me that being a great leader means persevering through the challenges. With my leadership, our team developed a new mentality and restored positive self-esteem. We redefined the idea of winning, not as being at the top, or the scoreboard, but rather about working towards goals as a team and having fun. My leadership positively impacted team growth. We did it together because there is no "I" in a team. Outside of sports, I love participating in both school spirit and student engagement but due to Covid-19 my school needed some help to get some spirirt. Our Associated Student Body (ASB), was going to be hosting a rally. I was excited but noticed many students were not as interested or as excited. ASB Officers did the best they could, and their effort to think of an online rally and plan the virtual games was inspiring. I joined ASB. My teacher, classmates, and I were motivated to bring back the school spirit. The energy was infectious, and it felt like we had rekindled some of the school spirit, but more work needed to be done. I came up with a plan to organize fundraisers throughout the school year for our junior prom that was happening the following year. With the help of others I organized these events at school; Halloween grams, chocolate box sales, paletas, concha with hot chocolate, and reached out to local businesses for sponsorship. With the money we raised, we were able to cover the costs of decorations for Junior prom.

It taught me the importance of taking initiative and working towards a common goal. It showed me the power of community and how coming together can make a significant impact. Finally, it made me realize, I have the ability to make a difference and create positive change. Being able to witness the transformation in my school has been incredibly rewarding. We can overcome any challenge and make our school a better place. I am proud of the work I have done to make my school the place it is now. Not only that but I am also a part of a Latinx club at school called La Raza Collectiva. I am a part of the board, and my role is Field Trip Coordinator. Starting last year, we hosted a Baile at school as a way to bring Latinos together and celebrate our culture through dancing. Both years have been super successful, we've had lots of positive feedback from those who attended.

I love playing Luigi's Mansion with friends and family. The two-player mode isn't available until an hour or so into the story, but at that point, the rest of the game becomes one of the best co-op games. We always have a game night where my cousins and I meet up at my sister's house with a bunch of snacks and food and play different Nintendo games. I love the fact that Gooigi has infinite lives so my cousins and I fool around most of the time trying to see who can die the fastest or who lasts the longest alive. The people who win the awards of " Dies the fastest" and "Longest survivor" choose between a gift we all pitched in for or the only desert we bought for the night. We love the fact that the game isn't hard and love solving many of the game's puzzles. Playing with friends and family is just so fun, it's so relieving. I get the same feeling when I play sports, when I'm on the pitch all of my stresses and worries fly out the window. It's only you, the ball, your teammates, and your opponents. When playing on the game it's playing video games while goofing around but also trying to prove you are the best player even if you suck and get made fun of. When surrounded by loved ones you forget all the worries in the world and focus in on the game and following around.

A Call to Safeguard Earth's Lifeblood Our oceans, covering over 70% of the Earth's surface, stand as the lifeblood of our planet, fostering biodiversity, regulating climate, and providing essential resources. The imperative to protect these vast bodies of water has never been more critical. In this essay, we will delve into the multifaceted reasons why safeguarding our oceans is of utmost importance. The oceans harbor a staggering array of life forms, from microscopic phytoplankton to the majestic whales that traverse their depths. This biodiversity is not only a marvel to behold but also plays a crucial role in maintaining the balance of ecosystems. Coral reefs, for example, support a quarter of marine species despite covering less than 1% of the ocean floor. Protecting these diverse ecosystems ensures the survival of countless species and contributes to the resilience of the global biosphere. Oceans act as a vital regulator of Earth's climate. Through the absorption and storage of vast amounts of carbon dioxide, they help mitigate the impacts of climate change. Phytoplankton, found near the ocean's surface, play a key role by absorbing CO2 and producing oxygen through photosynthesis. Moreover, ocean currents help distribute heat around the globe, influencing weather patterns and stabilizing climate conditions. By preserving the health of our oceans, we enhance their ability to mitigate climate change and its associated consequences. Oceans are a source of sustenance and livelihood for billions of people worldwide. Fishing and aquaculture industries provide a significant portion of the world's protein supply, supporting food security for numerous communities. Additionally, tourism and recreational activities centered around coastal areas contribute substantially to the global economy. Protecting oceans ensures the sustainability of these industries, preserving both economic prosperity and the well-being of coastal communities. The oceans, often referred to as the "blue pharmacy," harbor a wealth of untapped potential for medical discoveries. Marine organisms have yielded compounds with applications in medicine, from painkillers to antibiotics. As human health faces emerging challenges, such as antibiotic resistance, the protection of marine ecosystems becomes crucial for the continued exploration of these invaluable resources. Oceans connect nations and people, serving as highways for international trade and commerce. Shipping routes facilitate the transportation of goods, contributing to the interconnectedness of the global economy. Ensuring the health and sustainability of our oceans is not only an environmental imperative but also a practical necessity for fostering peaceful and cooperative relations among nations. In conclusion, the protection of our oceans is paramount for the well-being of our planet and all its inhabitants. From supporting biodiversity and regulating climate to providing economic resources and facilitating global connectivity, the importance of oceans extends far beyond their vast blue expanses. It is our collective responsibility to enact and promote policies, practices, and behaviors that prioritize the preservation of this essential component of Earth's delicate balance. Only through concerted efforts can we hope to secure a sustainable future for generations to come.

It's so hard choosing one but I would say her acting career is the one I admire the most. I have watched shows and movies starring in them since Shake it Up to the most recent Spider-Man movies.
