      Career Test Scholarship
As the daughter of two immigrant parents from Mexico, who came to the United States in search of a better life, I have seen firsthand the challenges they faced. While they pursued jobs, housing, and basic necessities, they were deprived of educational opportunities. Neither of my parents had the chance to complete school or attend high school, which deeply influenced their perspective on the value of education. Although my parents couldn't pursue an education themselves, my older brother had the opportunity to do so. Unfortunately, he fell into a difficult situation during his sophomore year of high school, as he became addicted to illegal substances and made choices that led to his deportation to Mexico. Just as I thought our family could find some sense of stability, we were met with the added challenge of caring for my grandmother, who was suffering from Dementia. Witnessing the emotional toll it took on my family to care for her, as she would often scream and exhibit aggressive behavior due to her inability to recognize her own loved ones, left a lasting impact on me. These experiences, watching my brother battle addiction and witnessing my grandmother's illness, served as powerful motivators for me to pursue academic excellence. They inspired me to strive for a career in nursing, as I am driven to make a difference in the lives of others and provide compassionate care to those in need. My active involvement in community service has equipped me with valuable skills and experiences that are essential for pursuing a degree in Nursing. At the Redlands Christian Migrant Association Daycare, my responsibilities include cleaning the facility and assisting with infant care. This hands-on experience has not only sharpened my organizational abilities but has also deepened my sense of empathy and compassion towards the youngest members of our community. Additionally, through my participation in the Mini-Corps program, I engage in community events and volunteer at local schools, actively working towards social change. These experiences have solidified my commitment to serving others and have allowed me to witness the positive impact community engagement can have on individuals and society. Being part of various community projects has allowed me to develop strong communication skills, teamwork, and adaptability skills, all of which are important for a successful nursing career. The combination of my community involvement and my passion for helping others has solidified my pursuit of a Nursing degree, as I am dedicated to making a meaningful difference in the lives of patients and my community. I believe that with the scholarship opportunity available, I can truly develop my potential and make a significant impact in the communities I serve. The reason I deserve this scholarship is because I am determined not to follow in the footsteps of my brother. I consider my education to be a precious gift, and I am fully committed to making the most of it. Choosing to pursue a nursing career in college is my way of helping individuals like my brother and grandmother. By receiving an education and this scholarship, I will be able to further my medical knowledge and contribute to the betterment of my community. Despite overcoming hurdles, I have excelled academically, demonstrating my ability to succeed. In order to make a greater impact in this world, I recognize the importance of continuous learning, determination, and resilience. Granting me this scholarship not only supports my aspirations, but also positively impacting the lives of the families I will serve. I eagerly anticipate building a future with this money, knowing that it will provide the support and encouragement I need to thrive academically.
      Cariloopā€™s Caregiver Scholarship
As the daughter of two immigrant parents from Mexico, who came to the United States in search of a better life, I have seen firsthand the challenges they faced. My family did not come from money, so I watched them struggle to find jobs, basic necessities, and they were deprived of educational opportunities. Neither of my parents had the chance to complete school or attend high school. My parents could not afford someone to care for her therefore I was her caretaker. Helping her eat because she would forget she had to or helping her shower because she could simply not do it herself anymore. Witnessing the emotional toll, it took on my family to care for her, as she would often scream and exhibit aggressive behavior due to her inability to recognize her own loved ones, left a lasting impact on me. These experiences, watching my brother battle addiction and witnessing my grandmother's illness, served as powerful motivators for me to pursue academic excellence.
