I want to serve the USA because, I would like to use the leadership skills I am being given in JROTC right now in the field, though I know the field could mean different jobs I would like to use them in the military. I feel it would be a great opportunity to gain more leadership skills all while serving my country and doing something I love doing. When I started high school I wanted to be a police officer and then I joined JROTC and met probably the best teacher ( MSG ) I will ever know. He has taught me so much since I started. I went from being a private as a sophomore to a sergeant first class now as a junior. When I serve I want to do infantry and artillery, because when I hear about that field I don’t hear about a lot of women doing it, though I know that they do it’s just not broadcasted as loud as men, and I want to be that image that young girls see, with the hopes that one day they will wanna be me and do what I do. Serving in the military would be a big deal to my family because we have a lot of family members that served and they set the tone for my generation and encouraged us to do something with our lives, so I did some research and found out what they did and how much they liked it and they all had one thing in common and that was artillery. They all worked with guns and machinery. I know that joining the military has its perks and it has its down falls that I have learned to accept. My JROTC instructor asked me if i k ew that death came with joining the military( meaning I knew that there is a chance that you could die and if I was strong enough in the mind to accept that I could die ). I know very well that I could die and I am prepared for whatever happens when I join, no matter the situation. Though it wasn’t always my dream to be in the military, the last three years I’ve spent in JROTC has made me realize that I could do something better and be more successful with my life and be remembered for serving my country and making my family proud.
