In early 2017, I experienced a major life change because of a sudden disabling medical condition. Nearly two years, I was unable to work and earn a living. Refusing to succumb to the adversarial condition, I made great strides daily. Late in 2018, I defeated the condition being released to work. I knew I needed to do something different than going back to work full-time. In an effort to reclaim strength, courage, and purpose, I found part-time work. As I became stronger the need to finish my education became more and more apparent. In fall 2019, I made the decision to go back to school. My decision was anxiety-producing as I had not been to college in years. Also, foreseeing the number of years ahead to achieve my highest educational goal of earning a law degree. I conquered the anxiety with the mindset “the best way to eat, an elephant, is one bite at a time”. January 2020 at age 34, being persistent in my journey, I returned to school to earn an Associate’s degree in Business. I attended college prior, but I do not believe at those times I appreciated the value of higher education. With much and varied life experience, I have matured and now realize, to have the greatest impact, higher education is a must. I have what it takes to achieve, overcome, and win as displayed by my resilience and determination enduring times I may lack full ability or confidence. I am resourceful being well equipped to handle obstacles and challenges as they come allowing me to take life by the horns developing my character.

Snapshots of 2016: January for my 30th birthday, I wanted an unforgettable experience, I went skydiving. Four hours after my dive, my first niece was born. In May, I provided and shared a first cruise experience with my mother for her 50th birthday. In October, I supported and led my accounting team to victory in our hotel’s pumpkin contest. December, I had my first ski trip as I spent Christmas Day on the slopes.
