Taylor Swift ‘1989’ Fan Scholarship
My favorite song on the '1989' album is 'I Know Places'. This song has deeply resonated with me and has been a favorite of mine forever. This song talks about the struggles with people hunting you down due to you being famous and wanting to know every little detail about your relationship. This is something most celebrities go through with the paparazzi and the fans wanting to know every little detail about the relationship and everything in between. This song has a sense of urgency and the narrator is telling her love that she knows places they can hide and be safe, and not have to worry about the people trying to weigh in their fifty cents on the relationship.
This imagery in the song describes two lovers trying to take cover from the "hunters" and find somewhere safe that no one will find. I very much like the use of symbolism and saying that the paparazzi and fans are the hunters hunting down their prey or the "foxes" in the song's case. It is a known thing that most celebrities find the paparazzi annoying and feel as if people should respect their distance and space. The song highlights the chase of people trying to know more about you and whoever you are with, but also about how there are ways to keep the relationship hidden from the public eye and that it is a safe space to be in.
'I Know Places ' has some lines or verses that stand out to me when I listen to the song. "Let them say what they want, we won't hear it" is a line that represents how the lovers won't pay any mind to the gossip and not let the rumors get to them. "Love's a fragile little flame, it could burn out" also shows how that love is fleeting and one small thing can burn the love out. In this case, the people wanting to know more about the relationship can cause unnecessary and unwanted stress on the couple, due to people always wanting to discuss the manner or nature of the relationship.
Overall, 'I Know Places' highlights the dangers of public relations and how the media will do anything to get word or information about a new relationship out to the public. This song directly talks about Swift's feelings at the time and how she never liked the incessant attention on her love life and how she has always liked to keep that private. The album '1989' reflects on her relationship with the media and her fans, highlighting some of the things people have been saying about her for years. 'I Know Places' directly talks more about the love-hate relationship with the media and gives more insight into Swift's feelings regarding media scrutiny about her love life being so public. The song dives more into wanting to keep the love safe and away from prying eyes and gives a message of wanting to keep the relationship private and away from gossip or talks by others.

I plan to make an impact on the world by making healthcare easier and accessible for people who need healthcare. Around the world, some people can't get easy access to healthcare or are not near hospitals and doctors to be cared for. I want to help those people and make more hospitals so they are taken care of and treated with the utmost care. Having more facilities open to the public and giving them easier access to medicine, encourages others to seek the medical attention they need and be treated for any illnesses that ail them. I strongly believe that helping people can lead to a better world and can make an impact on how people view things around them.
Another thing I would want to do to make an impact is to find a way to cure diseases that aren't curable and make them easier to take. Many diseases claim lives and are not so easy to cure or they require more steps to be able to be fully cured of the disease. Cancer is one of the diseases that are currently uncurable and it requires patients to go through chemotherapy to feel better. Treatment is readily available to patients that can afford it financially and has negative side effects on the body when being taken. Cancer runs in my family and I want to find a cure that is not costly and is positive for the body, as well as having no negative side effects while being taken.
One last thing I would do is learn how to be a better nurse and take care of my patients. One thing about me is that I am a compassionate person and I care very deeply for other people. Being a nurse is something I have wanted to do and I mainly want to be a pediatric nurse, as I work better with kids compared to adults. I want to improve on taking care of patients and being a good healthcare worker to the people who are in my care. Learning how to better improve me will help me to make an impact on the world and possibly encourage others to improve themselves based on their line of work.
In conclusion, there are so many ways to positively impact the world, but the main things I want to do are things that better my community and myself. I don't want to focus on what new technology I can make to help others, but learn how to be a better person to further myself and my community. Being a more improved version of myself will help me to make the goals and dreams I have in life a possibility, as well as find new ways to change and improve the medical field.
