Bio

I am a rising senior at Brown University concentrating in International & Public Affairs, with a specialization in American politics and public policy. I am passionate about engaging with the intersections of journalism, popular culture, and American politics to empower people of color, particularly Black/African-American/diasporic individuals in two venues: media and politics. I hope to continuously improve democratic governance to ensure the rights of these marginalized communities, while also showcasing the richness of Black cultures beyond the struggles we face. My interests have led me down many venues from working with cable news networks, print journalism and late-night television to political campaigns and advocacy organizations. But what best explains the diversity in my professional and on-campus experiences is my curiosity to gain insight into what people or events have shaped society at-large (power relations, cultural trends, etc.) and continue to shape our world. In the 6th grade, I was privileged to become a part of the TEAK Fellowship, a program for low-income students that guided me towards successful matriculation to a prestigious high school and university. Years later, I still reflect on the time and care invested in me from such a young age and aspire to positions where I can elevate those from similar backgrounds. I am currently seeking scholarships to pay off my student loan debt!
