    Mind, Body, & Soul Scholarship
As I go through my first semester of college, there have been many experiences that have been one to remember. College is a place where people find their careers, find friends they can respect, and honor their own families who were not able to have the same experience. All around the world students tend to their own talents, and find what they hope is an opportunity to live the life they dreamed of. In my own experience, the journey is what excites me the most. The thrill of not knowing what to expect, the feeling of being away from your family, and walking through the door of adulthood are examples of the frightening things about College overall. Although it can sound like a challenge, the resources that are provided to incoming freshmen can help any student in need. As a resident on campus, the experience of having someone else as a roommate can be different for some people. While others may become good friends with their assigned partner, there can be occasions where things may not always go as planned. As a student going along the semester, the pressure of figuring out things for yourself is heavier than before. Waking up on time for class, keeping track of your homework, and also making sure that tuition is solved can cause stress for any student. The result of this causes many people to drop out, or go through the dilemma of feeling as though they have no one to turn to. As a freshman I have had my own experiences of feeling stressed, but throughout that also came with a feeling of motivation. With any problem that any student comes into contact with, having the motivation to defeat any issue is what makes the College lifestyle something to truly recap on. While being in College, being away from your family also means that maintaining a healthy lifestyle is more on you as a student. While I go through the challenges I face in school, the main way of keeping a healthy mind is finding ways to reduce my stress. Often there are times too where I have to deal with a lot of homework, or feel tired from my classes during the day. To help solve this issue, I produce music in my free time to express whatever I am feeling at that moment. Music is important to me because it helps me explain how I am feeling about a certain situation without having to speak, and in a way I can explain my own story through the music. Mental health is the first step in taking the right step towards a better life. In order to start living better, one must take the time to realize what they want in life and tell themselves that they have the ability to do so. Life will always have its own problems that will be thrown at you, but knowing the capabilities of your talents will overpower anything in your path. In high-school, there was a time where it felt as though I was lost. Searching for something for so long, and not knowing whether or not I would ever find it. When I stepped foot into College however, life seemed to change for me in ways I never expected. Having the choice to make my own decisions helped me discover who I was, and in doing so I was able to progressively create a path for myself. When the journey is finally over, I will be able to successfully say to my family that I never gave up on myself.
    Healthy Eating Scholarship
Healthy eating habits are essential towards maintaining a positive lifestyle. There are many ways that people keep up with their health regarding eating. Working out, basing meals off of the amount of calories it has, and even cutting down on saturated fat can be examples. Throughout life there have been ways of keeping up with your health, but sometimes we can be easily consumed by outside distractions. Not only does living healthy boosts your mind mentally, it can also lead to fewer health problems for yourself down the road. While we often spend our money on junk food and unnecessary items, reducing the amount we spend and focusing more on our health can save finances in the future. On many occasions major brand labels provide commercials persuading the world to feed into the unhealthy habits, and citizens often get caught in the trap without realizing what these products actually withhold. For example, as of 2022 the highest selling candy in the world is Reese's Peanut Butter Cup. One serving of the delicious treat contains 88 calories in total, with 5 grams of fat and 8 grams of sugar. While the candy can be favored for many, too many servings of this treat can result in negative consequences towards your health. Since learning how to remain healthy is not a main priority in schools or a work environment, people tend to focus on other aspects of life. The world has to become better at persuading more citizens to follow along with eating healthy, and in doing so we can be able to live better lifestyles collectively. While eating healthy is important, it is reminded that actions need to come in place beforehand to live the life that you want. Mental health is the first step in taking the right step towards a better life. In order to start living better, one must take the time to realize what they want in life and tell themselves that they have the ability to do so. Strength is something that is valuable because there are going to be moments where you feel like giving up, or where it feels as though there are distractions blocking you from the path you seek. As life can be hard, the moments that are tough are only going to be stepping stones towards the goals waiting to be achieved in the end. The second step towards a healthier lifestyle is exercising regularly. As we go on living through our daily lives, we tend to forget about working out or keeping our bodies in shape. One of the main ways to fix this is to be physically active for at least 30 minutes most days of the week. This not only keeps a healthy schedule that is easily able to be tracked, but it also can improve the overall feeling of how you live your daily life. The last step is eating a well-balanced diet, which contains fruits and vegetables. Whole grains can also be an essential ingredient towards an all around meal that can be served to the family. The main difference that I have noticed in practicing a healthy lifestyle is my own mental health. When I am able to exercise and get any tension off, it helps me relax which in result makes me feel ready for the day ahead of me. Whenever I was off eating junk food distracted by the world, I never felt as though it was who I wanted to truly be. If the world can come together and teach more ways to live healthier, ways of life can improve for everyone.
    Maida Brkanovic Memorial Scholarship
As a first-generation student in college, the pressure of finishing college has been bigger on me than ever before. When my siblings and I were younger, my parents were unfortunate in experiencing the full college life that was in front of them. Although they were faced with that issue, they still accomplished their goals and were able to successfully raise my family and I. With the knowledge of this, I always knew deep down inside I wanted to work hard for them. Hard work was always rewarded in our family, and to have that feeling of gratitude is something that I want to truly say I earned one day. During my highschool years, it was hard for me because I felt as though I would not be accepted. I participated in American Football in middle school and I continued to play in highschool because it seemed as though that was where my life was heading. I went through my freshman year and continued to play until a major injury occurred. I’d torn my ACL also known as the anterior cruciate ligament. The injury ended my football season for good, and shortly after the sorrow began. It felt as though I did not have many options left at the time because football seemed like the only option for me. As I went into my sophomore year, I came back into football hoping that it could be for me again. Due to my absence for one year, I didn’t get the same amount of playing time that I would have preferably liked. I felt frustrated with how things were going, but continued to play through the season. With the new changes in my life, also came natural problems of the world as well. Covid had become a major crisis in the world, and from a two week vacation went into a whole year of staying at home. Starting my junior year with homeschooling, I didn’t know what to expect, the options of career choices felt minimum. Going into my junior year, my counselor gave me reassurance that I still had valuable choices towards my career. I began taking Music Production which was introduced by my friends, in addition to that I felt as though I needed a change. Music has always been a part of me. From free-styling with my friends or simply having multiple playlists to satisfy whatever feelings I had at the moment, I knew music captured my heart. Hip-hop was my favorite genre of music at the time, so I entered my new class not knowing how to feel. As an African American in the United States, Hip-hop is something that is essential to me and my family. Throughout history Hip-hop has developed over time, and I cherished the genre no matter what. As I continued my music journey I pondered several questions to myself, did anyone like my genre of music? Was there going to be any other producers similar to my style? Many thoughts flowed through my head as I went on through this new stage of life. I slowly came to understand the meaning of music came from deep within, and someone had to step up and be a powerful voice in order to positively impact our society. Although I was having these doubts about myself, my family was there to reassure me that I could accomplish anything I wanted to do with my life. As I started taking more time into making music, I began to become better at becoming a true artist. I began to show people around me, including my family, what I had started to make. My family had shown the most shock because they never expected that it would be higher than their expectations. They told me that I should continue with this gift that I had, because music was truly something that I loved. I plan on taking my own talents and making it into the music industry one day. With the hard work, and the support cast around me, I can accomplish anything I set my mind to. I hope that one day I will be able to encourage the youth to follow their own dreams, and to be first-generation students as well. We all have what it takes to achieve our goals, and in life all we have to do is be willing to put in the effort to make a difference. With the motivation that my family gives me everyday, I plan on becoming the best person I can be. As I continue to go through the stages of college life, I continue to improve my musical talents everyday for the world to hear. Carrying on the family name will forever hold value to me, and I cherish it deeply.
    Ruthie Brown Scholarship
Student loan debt can be a problem for any incoming freshman college student as they go through their early stages of life. As I continue my freshman year of college, the problem with student loan debt has become an issue that puts a hold on any progression I want to make. To fix this issue, I plan on putting my focus into obtaining scholarships and prioritizing saving my money from my job. Scholarships have become major in gaining money for not only college tuition, but for outside resources that can be beneficial in my life. Through the process, I have won some scholarships that have helped my tuition go down and give me a breather through the semester. Searching for scholarship websites can potentially have its ups and downs though, as there are some websites and organizations that only profit for themselves. Although those websites can be a hassle, there are many quality websites that provide equal opportunities for any college student. As I go through the process of filling out scholarships in the week, I make a plan to write down how many scholarships I intend to finish and the nearest deadline for each of them. Deadlines of scholarships are important, because there have been many occasions where I have tried to complete an essay for a scholarship and the deadline expired. Manage the time of each deadline that you want to complete, and make a list of the nearest and farthest so that it does not confuse you. In addition to planning on how to pay for my tuition, I also have to manage the remaining outstanding balances I personally have to pay. In college there are many resources that are needed to keep you going through the year. I’m currently a resident on campus, the amount of money I spend on items can affect me since I do not live with my family. Transportation, food, and textbooks are often the case when it comes to my spending needs, but there are some cases where I have to spend my money on other items. This has become an issue of mine that I plan to solve, because if I keep spending money on unnecessary items it could potentially put me in more financial trouble. My first step of action was to make sure that I split every paycheck that I make in half. In doing so, I would allow myself to save half of my paycheck and the remaining would go towards my expenses. Having this system in place helps me to maintain balance within my current financial budget. Throughout my time at work I have progressed in the company, and plan on getting a promotion so that eventually I can get paid more. Working hard and being dedicated is essential in making sure that my debt is fixed, so I always have to encourage myself everyday to work hard no matter what. Managing my time is also important when it comes to addressing my debt. Throughout college, I tend to get busy with work and classes that take up the majority of my time. In addition to that homework, filling out scholarships, and having a job, it can bring a lot of pressure into your life. I have learned throughout the semester to schedule days specifically towards scholarships, while having other days be aimed towards finishing any homework I have. Execution makes planning for the future much easier than before. With this established goal in front of me, I plan to fix my student loan debt and continue my progress in college to further improve my career.
    Elevate Mental Health Awareness Scholarship
Mental health affects people all around the world, but in comes in many different forms. There can be positive mental health, and then there could be the downsides of mental health. Most importantly, mental health should overall be taken into account for and managed wisely as a person goes on throughout their daily life. From my own experience with mental health, I have had moments to where I felt as though I could be better. During the early stages of my high-school years, I could not tell where my life was going to head. Since my community was very small town, all of our middle schools connected to one big high-school, meaning that I would have to meet new people. In this period of time my football career seemed like it was finally starting to go somewhere for me, as I had just gained a starting spot on the team. As it seemed like I was on top of the world, the season started, and with that the injury that changed everything. I had obtained a torn ACL, also known as the anterior cruciate ligament. The injury ended my football season for good, and soon began the sorrow. It felt as though I did not have many options left at the time because football seemed like the only option for me. As I went into my sophomore year, I came back into football hoping that it could be for me again. Since I was gone for a year however, I did not get the same amount of playing time that I would have preferably liked. I felt frustrated with how things were going, but continued to play through the season. With the new changes into my life, also came with natural problems of the world as well. Covid had become a major crisis in the world, and from a two week vacation went into a whole year of staying at home. Starting my junior year I did not know what to expect, the options of career choices felt minimum as I went on. Going into my junior year, my counselor gave me reassurance that I still had valuable choices towards my career. I started to take Music Production since my friends had considered it for me, and I felt as though I needed a change. Music has always been apart of me, from just free-styling with my friends or simply having multiple playlists to satisfy whatever feelings I had at the moment. As I began my junior year of high-school, I came into the world of Music Production. Hip-hop was my favorite genre of music at the time, so I entered my new class not knowing how to feel. I understood that the meaning of music came from deep within, and that someone had to step up and be a powerful voice in order to positively impact our society. Although I was having these doubts about myself, my family was there to reassure me that I could accomplish anything I want to do with my life. As I started taking more time into making music, I began to become better at becoming a true artist. I began to show people around me, including my family, what I had started to make. My family had shown the most shock because they never expected that it would be higher than their expectations. They told me that I should continue with this gift that I had, because music was truly something that I loved. As Senior year came along and I had finally gained some momentum from producing, I decided to take my music and make a career out of it in college. In truly believing in my own talents, my own mental health had improved tremendously than from what it was beforehand. Going through my semesters of senior year, I met many people who did not have the same courage as I had obtained. They often felt as though people did not want to hear what they made, or did not think their voice was good enough. In those moments, I would tell them not to say anything and to just play their music. Most of them would, and from then on their nervousness would soon go away as they realized it was alright to be scared. As I enter my freshman year of college now, I see life in many different ways than to what I was so used to seeing in high-school. My mental health is always improving, as I continue to maintain my music at a high level and believe in myself. There was a time where it felt as though I was at the bottom, but with the motivation of the people around me I truly was able to see who I was as a human being. I plan on making it into the music industry one day, and hopefully with the right amount of encouragement, have artists who were once scared accompany me as well. In this life mental health is damaging as an individual can feel as though they have nothing left for them, but to truly stop this we have to come together. Take a minute to tell your loved ones that you care for them. Go out your way to do something good for your community. In anyway, encourage other people that they can have the strength to do anything they want to in life. Most importantly though, make sure to give yourself strength also. In order to be able to take care of the people around you, you also have to care for yourself.

I plan on impacting the world muscially by expressing the true value of having freedom in your production. There are often times where artists have trouble expressing themselves through their music, and I wish to shed the message on our community that expressing the mind is the most important thing a artist can do. Throughout my life I have always felt as though music was something that was within me. To further understand, I will explain a little bit of my childhood and how my music has became something that I want to spread with the entire world. Throughout highschool I was often seen as a person who constantly wore headphones, and even during those times it felt as though the assumptions were correct. Music has always been apart of me, from just freestyling with my friends or simply having multiple playlists to satisfy whatever feelings I had at the moment. As I went on through high school, I came into the world of Music Production. From then on listening to other artists' music turned into creating music of my own to listen to. To understand the way of making music, often I would branch out and ask my other peers on how they created their own style of music. As I learned from person to person, the realization came that many of my own peers had trouble expressing how they share their feelings through music. I understood that the meaning of music came from deep within, and that someone had to step and be a powerful voice in order to positively impact our society. From that day on I spent more of my time into focusing my lyrics on motivation, and also encouraging my peers around me that without the effort none of this would be possible. In my plan I want to focus on encouraging the youth to always have the courage to express themselves, even if they feel as though they will be judged or neglected for it. As the music industry continues to expand, more artists will be brought to light meaning that they will have every opportunity to take the moment. I hope that one day I will be able to share my impact through my music with the world and be able to know that artists can truly express their minds without feeling any insecurities about themselves. There is not one specific person, but multiple people who have impacted my life genuinely. If there were two people though that I would give the most credit to, it would have to be my parents. My parents are the strongest individuals I know, and throughout their life they have done everything they can to provide for me and my siblings. I hope that one day I can pay my gratitude in ways there unimaginable, and I make sure to keep their advice with me wherever I go. If there was one thing that I could change about the world, it would be the way African Americans are handled in society. Although racism has been less of an issue in the world, there is often times where African Americans feel disconnected from the community they live in. In order to change these ways, more needs to be done towards providing the African American community with affordable and enjoyable actives that can bring people together. Throughout my childhood, there was many times where I felt as though me and my siblings were struggling to adapt in with our new environment. If this one change could be made, African Americans can start to truly connect with one another peacefully.

From that day on I spent more of my time into focusing my lyrics on motivation, and also encouraging my peers around me that without the effort none of this would be possible. My love for music has always been something I wanted to share with the world, and with the right equipment and software magical things can happen. To many, artists are seen in high budget studios with heavy equipment built in suited for recording. For me, I believe that the quality of music truly comes from within yourself, and with enough hard work the same product of music can be produced within your home. For music it always felt as though I had the potential to make a career out of it, but I never had the courage to actually put myself out there. My music teacher always put in his best efforts to get me to display my musical talent for my peers, and in doing so I was able to express myself more than I ever thought. He was truly the one that made me see life can be happy if you just be yourself, and I hope to show my music to the world one day and further teach others in ways I was taught during my childhood. After graduating college with my Bachelors Degree in Digital Marketing and a Minor in Music Production I plan on continuing my goals of becoming an artist and sharing my music with the world. At times I felt as though I was alone, or that my music would be an outcast from my peers who were directed in other ways. In the future, I hope that I can provide the youth with enough motivation to always believe in themselves and keep improving no matter what. The amount of hard work and effort I provided into a subject was the same result that often came back to me. In providing the world with the courage to overcome their obstacles, many people will have success in whatever they choose to pursue in life. Besides my music career I often spend my time with family settling down, or just trying to find new ways to be my best self. Other than that, I have a plan and I tend to achieve it no matter the cost.
First-Year College Students: Jennie Gilbert Daigre Education Scholarship
Throughout my life my family has always been the motivation for me to press on in my future dreams and goals. In my early childhood, family was always set as a important thing to have because when there was anyone that could be relied on it would be them. As me and my sibings went through the stages of life together, we faced many hardships and challenges. There was many challenges that we felt as though we could not face, but with the help of our parents they were able to reassure us to always push forward with whatever we want to do with our lives. My brother was always the one who was there for me the most when it came to becoming a better adult. Since me and him are not that far apart in age, we share a lot in common and usually understand each other. During my highschool years it was hard for for me because I felt as though I would not be accepted. Although I was having these doubts about myself, my family was there to reassure me that I could accomplish anything I want to do with my life. When I started taking Music Production my junior year in highschool, I did not know what to expect. There was not many people that liked the hip-hop genre in my class, so I was concerned on whether or not people were going to accept me. As I started taking more time into making music, I began to become better at producing beats. I began to show people around me, including my family, what I had started to make. My family had shown the most shock because they never expected that it would higher than their expectations. They told me that I should continue with this gift that I had, because music was truly something that I loved. With the new found encouragement I had, not only did I gain motivation but proved something to myself. I continue my goals in college of pursuing a music career, and in doing so bringing more light to the African American community. I wish that one day more African American artists can be able to express themselves more freely in the music industry, and that they will able to vocalize themselves however they want. Not only will the African American community be held with more respect, but other colors of race can begin to also share their voice as well. In this world in order to truly change society we must first become equal with one another, and we have to be there for any race no matter the situation. Shedding more light to the music industry may cause more people to want to take action, and in doing so more artists will be able to express themselves. I am set with the ambitions that I can one day make my music last in the music industry. I hope that one day I can be able to continue my passion through generations of my own family, and be able to create more happiness in our household. My family has always been the ones who were there for me, so I want to provide them with same care they once gave me. If anybody were to be the people I had to share my fortune with, it would have to be the ones I love the most. In my life the one goal I have is to become remembered, and I hope with this plan of making the world a better place people will truly remember who I was.
    Superfood Lover Scholarship
Throughout life there has been many different foods that have provided nutrients and proteins that benefit the human body. We come from a history where food has evolved from the smallest of crops, to where they have eventually grown into full-grown fields that are used by farmers. The main reason superfoods is treated with such high value is because these foods are very favorable towards a persons health. My main reason for loving superfoods is because throughout my life I have always had the mindset to stay healthy. Coming from a family of former athletes, we strived to always make sure we were competitive with each other. Through the course of my life me and my family members played many sports, and we always needed to stay in the best of shape in order to compete at a high level. In doing so we incorporated many different meals into our diet, and always knew whatever tasted good needed to be thrown out immediately. In the beginning many of the diet plans that were given to me did not satisfy my taste buds, but as time progressed I eventually started to enjoy the meals that I received. The main source of "superfoods" that my family always enjoyed was Spinach. Greens was always essential in the family because in the past my Grandma would make it for my Father, so the recipe was passed down through the generation of family members that we had. At first Spinach was always something that was unenjoyable for me considering I was a child at the time, but when I started to experiment with more foods I finally started to like it. Football was a major thing for me and my brothers growing up, and the most extreme part about it was waking up early in the morning. Since we would have to leave for workouts in the morning, there would always be times where we missed breakfast rushing out for school. Although we missed breakfast a couple times, we soon realized it was a big mistake since it was arguably the most important meal of the day. Eggs became a important superfood that was included in our daily diet because not only did it have lots of vitamins, but it also was easy to make. In addition to having eggs, fruit was also beneficial in our morning meals to add the extra boost we needed everyday. For lunch I tended to lean towards eating sandwiches at lunch, since the options were not as healthy as at home. At times I would make my own sort of special lunch, but nothing really suited my preferences except for what my diet-plans consisted of. Last but not least we had our dinner plan, and this was truly my favorite one since I was able to always make the preferences for dinner. Our main course was usually Chicken and Broccoli, and we would usually add rice in as a extra side to have. From that point on there was some nights where we would have tacos, or would switch it up with pasta. The main thing to consider was that each family member picked a meal for each night, so no one felt left out with what they wanted to eat in the week. Superfoods truly change the balance of your life, and having a healthy diet is not something that is easy. They have helped me and my family out tremendously in terms of staying in the best shape possible, and I plan on creating the same type of meal plan with my children in the future.
Jameela Jamil x I Weigh Scholarship
One thing about life is that there are moments where an individual shows compassion towards someone else in hopes of happiness. In my life there has been many situations to where I have lended a helping hand to my family or friends, but there was one moment specifically that I will always remember. Throughout high school I played football, but when Covid became a global problem it changed my life temporarily. I was not used to being at home so often, so I decided (with the help of my parents) to apply for a job so I would have something to do. My first job was selling ice cream, and although it was nice there was many times where it was stressful. After a few months I decided that the job may not be the best thing for me, and took my talents elsewhere in hopes for something new. The next job that fell into my career was a trampoline park, and things seemed significantly better than before in terms of settling to the new environment in front of my life. Meeting new people is always something I enjoy, so being at a place where there was always new visitors looking to jump was exciting. As things went along with my second job, I started to notice a lot of things that was strange for a place obsessively branded with "having fun". There was conflict that was flowing slow but not so gently between my manager and my fellow co-workers, and the main problem resolved around stealing profit. The co-workers discussed how my manager was stealing the tip money they gained after their workday, and the issues started to become larger than just that. This was the first couple of months of my job, and I did not have much power as others considering I was still new. Since my position was different than the co-workers that had complaints towards the management, I tried to stay out of arguments so that my name would not have any negative comments aimed around it. Just when things seemed to settle down, more troubles began to follow which led to a downward spiral of frustration. I was graduating from high school around this time, and with summer just around the corner this meant shift hours for co-workers would have to be changed. I changed my schedule to have full time hours, since this was more preferable to me as I had college coming up and needed to save money. Hours for co-workers started to shorten however, and this led to many people becoming upset with the treatment that was given. Throughout the workplace it could be seen that co-workers were beginning to rebel against management, and this made me question the true purpose of what the park signified. I discussed around with my fellow co-workers and realized something had to change, but we were the ones who had to make a difference. One day of work, was the shift that made everything in the work environment different forever. I walked in to my cleaning shift, but noticed all of the other employees were wearing different shirts. I asked my Team Captain what the purpose of the different shirts were for, and she told me that everybody had decided to do a walk-out. The walk-out was supposed to show management that the co-workers had enough of the disrespect that was being shown, and that change needed to be shown in order for everyone to be happy. As I went to go change into a different shirt, I realized that this was place for me.

While attending college, the value I hope to receive from my education is to sharpen the skills I’ve obtained, in hopes of assisting me with the next steps in my career. I hope to show my music to the world one day, and further teach others in ways I was taught during my childhood. Everyone has the heart within themselves to become great, but sometimes with the efforts of people around us we can truly inspire others to achieve at a higher level. Football made a major impact on my life, but it took major time out of my life and out of my focus for school as well. I had a dream of becoming a NFL player, but never took into consideration how football could be taken out of my life at any moment one day. As I went through those highs and lows though, I realized that life was more meaningful than a football helmet or pads. I had to set the game aside to truly put my mind and mental state to the test, and therefore use my education to further who I am. Moving on to a more meaningful life ahead of me I will be able to further my education at Elmhurst University and continue to fulfill my musical aspirations that I have always dreamed of. The goal of this scholarship isn’t to obtain the money for my own benefit, but to use this money to further assist the community of artists who also feel as though they are not enough. In doing so, more artists will be able to express themselves and contribute to the movement that is going to be created. Often there are times where these goals that I set for myself seem unattainable, but with enough hope there will always be better opportunities to come. As we continue through this creation called life, there will always be adventures beyond your wildest dreams only if you are willing to look out and obtain them.

For others it may be the fame or the fortune for which they pursue. Although they may think they this may, I am passionate about the trade I am pursuing because it would improve the music industry. Music has always been something that I loved dearly, and feel as though it has been with me since I was a kid. From listening to music on my phone, to freestyling with my friends, music was always something that stayed with me at heart. When I went into my highschool years, I was provided with many options on where my career could go. Since I played football in middle school I continued to play in highschool because it seemed as though that was where my life was heading. I went through freshman year and continued to play until a major injury occured. It felt as though I did not have many options left at the time because football seemed like the only option for me. As I went into my sophomore year, I came back into football hoping that it could be for me again. Since I was gone for a year however, I did not get the same amount of playing time that I usually would have got. I started to take Music Production since my friends had considered it for me, and I felt as though I needed a change. As time went along I began to produce beats at home on my Chromebook, and although it was hard I managed to make progress. Music had became something that was an interest to me, so I continued to take the action of making sure I always produced a beat everyday. As Junior Year ended, college was starting to become closer and the time was starting to run out. I finally decided that music had become something that I wanted to continue because I truly thought that I had a gift. As Senior Year began, students were allowed back into schools meaning I was able to use better technology for my productions. I was nervous, because I was concerned on if my classmates would like any of the music I made. I began to express myself more through my music, and felt I would not be accepted for how I think. Even though I was feeling this way, I had the courage to step forward and express my music and surprisingly enough my classmates liked the music I produced. With this new courage I planned on taking my experiences and sharing with world. In college I hope that I am able to pursue my career in music, and continue to improve myself as an artist. As a African American artist I plan on improving the music industry, and continuing to motivate people in my community to express themselves. There is a lack of freedom in the music industry, and in coming together and vocalizing how we feel there can be change. The dream for the world is that one day people can be free, and with my courage I know I have what it takes. It is up to us to be great.

As I go into my college years, I reflect on my past and correct it to continue to move forward. As a child I was always the one that felt as though I was not enough. Even though I felt this way, something inside me always knew that I had potential. At this time I did not know what exactly it was, but I was on a mission to find out the talent that I possess. Going into my highschool years I began to play football, and with this I had new feeling of excitment. I always knew that I was athletic because I ran track during middle school, but with this new sport I knew that it was going to be step forward. As the seasons came along I managed to get a starting spot, and with that I began to play with my friends and feel happier about who I was. Although I thought I had found the career for me, injures came along and became a setback in my life. It was difficult because I did not know what other career I wanted to pursue, considering that I thought football was going to be with me forever. As Junior year came along I began to take Music Production and started to produce beats. I was nervous at first because I did not think anyone would like what I was making, but my classmates ended up enjoying what I made and wanted to hear more. With all this in mind, continue to express the way you are no matter what you are feeling. If there is any doubt in your mind that you can not do it, relax and take a break. Continuing to express myself in college will not only benefit me, but make the world better.

Advice can be given from the people around me, but when it came to changing my life that was something only I can do. I started to record my vocals onto my beats, and because of this I had this new courage like never before. During our upcoming presentations, I felt nervous about what to expect. I had no clue if my fellow classmates were going to like my music or not. As I went to present however, my classmates surprisingly liked my music and wanted to hear more of it. Our families are something that we should keep close within our heart, and when times are tough they are the people we can lean back on. I continue my goals in college of pursuing a music career, and in doing so bringing more light to the African American community. I wish that one day more African American artists can be able to express themselves more freely in the music industry, and that they will able to vocalize themselves however they want. Shedding more light to the music industry may cause more people to want to take action, and in doing so more artists will be able to express themselves. I am set with the ambitions that I can one day make my music last in the music industry. My family has always been the ones who were there for me, so I want to provide them with same care they once gave me. If anybody were to be the people I had to share my fortune with, it would have to be the ones I love the most.

As I went on through highschool I came into the world of Music Production, and from then on listening to other artists' music turned into creating music of my own to listen to.
    Dog Lover Scholarship
Throughout the history of the world dogs have obstained a special relationship with humans. To many dogs can be seen as a caretaker, pet, and more importantly a friend that can be relied on. Dogs have become a way for people to enjoy their lives with a companion to relieve their stress, and having one in the family househould can benefit in all areas not just mentally. In my life there have been many good memories, but dogs have essentially changed the perspective of how I use to percieve most animals. During my childhood there was one specific dog named Dasher who I will always remember as the dog who truly cared for everybody. When my siblings and I were first introduced to the new memeber of our family, I did not know or understand what the feeling of having a pet would be like. Although having a pet can be wonderful, the world doesn't aautomatically hand you a manual on how to love or take care of a pet. At first I thought that taking care of a dog would be a easy thing to manage, but I soon found out for myself that it would be more difficult than I imagined. Over time the realization of having a pet came along, and with that came the natural problems as well. Always having to take the dog out on walks, making sure she was fed, and even keeping the dog potty-trained seemed too much to handle. At times those situations made it appear too much for me to compete with, but the enjoyment of having Dasher along was worth all the effort. At that time in my life there was not much going on, and throughout it I was feeling as though there was more needed to boost my well-being. Dasher made life more enjoyable with the constant need for excitement, and always brought smiles to faces for myself and my family. Not only was Dasher a source of happiness for my family, but doing activites with her also brought me and my family closer together as well. Dasher was the type of dog that made all anxiety go away, and whenever I was with her it felt as though things could never go wrong with her by my side. As we went on with life however, unfortunately we had to give her away due to the fact that we could not take care of her anymore. As we all wished it would last forever, I was left with a sudden emptyness that I had not felt before. Even though she was gone, every memory of her was something that I kept in my brain no matter how much I aged. Having a pet that can make a life or situation better is not only good for mental health, it leaves a feeling in your heart that could possibly never be removed no matter the effort to leave it behind. Going into college now, I still think about the past and the memories she brought to me and my family. Dogs can be percieved and looked at in many ways, but from those simple experiences with Dasher it showed me that dogs are truly animals that can be depended on in any situation. Dogs are not just a pet to have around the house in case an intruder comes along, they are animals that put their time and energy into loving their caretakers. In conclusion, Dasher and many dogs around the world have just the amount of heart as a human being and should always be treated with respect.

    Bold Community Activist Scholarship
In my community I always tend to teach the youth to never give up. In doing so, not only has it been beneficial for me but for the children to understand the meaning of life. As I go through the stages of my life entering adulthood, there were many challenges that ultimately changed my perspective on the world. With time came hardships and there was much negativity thrown into the situation. Through those times I learned not to be alone, and teach others to help those that are in need as well. When it is seen that one of our friends have fallen, we lend out a hand and strengthen those around us. Through the meaning of bond, and the power of connection, new meanings can become far than what they ever appeared to be. Another way I am able to commit positive change towards my community is through media. In history media has evolved into something the world would have never expected it to be, and through this new technology much improvement can be made if put in the right hands. Spreading awareness of major events on social media, telling news to a family member or friend, and even posting new ways of creating change is neccessary to making the world a better place. The world runs on a cycle, and when our generation fades away a new generation will arise. When that time comes it will be up to us to teach the youth of our generation so that the world will be a much easier fit to live in. Although times can be tough for any community, not just my own, the effort that is put into the community itself is what will make it last for a lifetime.
