Born and raised in Harford County, Maryland I am a Senior Architecture Major at Howard University who is currently on a five year track to earning both my Bachelor's and Master's degree by the end of the fifth year.
In addition to being a full-time student I am currently the Chairwoman for the Youth Commission for the City of Havre de Grace. In this role I converse with my fellow commission members to create events and activities for the youth of Havre de Grace to enjoy while providing them information about job and internship opportunities, scholarships and college. In this role I also manage and create posts, stories and videos for our social media pages.
Before joining the Youth Commission I continued to be heavily involved with organization that contributed to both community service as well as academics such as the Department of Veterans' Affair (in which I earned two Presidential Service Awards (Gold)), the National Honors Society and my local food pantry. I continue to be involved with organizations that deal with community service and academics through the Youth Commission and the National Society of Collegiate Scholars.
In my free time I enjoy painting, singing, reading as well as listening and making music with my family.

For as long as I can remember I have always had a passion for traveling and seeing the different structures each destination had to offer and how each landmark would contain different variations of a certain structure. For example, although every town may have a library no two structures are the same each building's design complements and resonates with that of the town.
As a child I would search for pictures of famous architectural structures and check out books from my local library just to see the different architectural styles of different countries. Paired with my love of art, mathematics and science I knew in middle school that Architecture was the right pathway for me. Not only could I still incorporate my love for math and science into projects but, I could physically see the beauty of my work in front of me rather than only on a sheet of paper. The art I create has the ability to go from my imagination to reality while in this field, and I found it to be a perfect fit.
My parents have always encouraged me to choose a career that you can not only thrive in but, one that you can enjoy because then your work does not feel like a burden to you, but rather an enjoyable experience. By obtaining my degree not only would I be honoring my parent’s wisdom of choosing a career that best suits me but, I will be the first person in my family to obtain both my bachelor's and my master’s degrees. Although my career plan is to become a fully licensed architect, I plan to open my own design firm and inspire other black girls that they are able to not only survive but thrive in a male dominated major.
