As Trevaughn Sheppard, a college-bound student at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, my journey is deeply rooted in the rich tapestry of my family's immigrant background. My grandmother's brave migration from Haiti to the United States has been a source of inspiration, instilling in me values of resilience, hard work, and the importance of education.
Being part of an immigrant family, I have experienced firsthand the struggles and triumphs that come with adapting to a new culture while preserving one's own. This unique experience has bestowed upon me a profound appreciation for diversity and the power of perseverance. My academic path in Aviation Business Administration, focusing on Supply Chain Management in Aviation and Aerospace and a minor in Project Management, is not just a pursuit of personal ambition, but a tribute to my family's journey and sacrifices.
The loss of my father and the challenges that followed have been pivotal in shaping my worldview. As the eldest child, I stepped up to support my mother and siblings, balancing the dual responsibilities of family and education. This experience has taught me the value of empathy, resilience, and leadership—qualities that are essential in making a positive impact on the world.
My involvement in community and leadership roles, such as the president of Future Business Leaders of America and my service in the Army National Guard, reflect my commitment to serving and uplifting others. These experiences have honed my leadership skills and deepened my understanding of the importance of community support and mentorship.
Looking ahead, I plan to use my education and experiences to make a lasting positive impact on the world. My goal is to revolutionize the aviation sector by integrating the principles of sustainability and innovation. I envision contributing to the development of more efficient supply chain processes within the aerospace industry, reducing environmental impact, and improving global connectivity.
Additionally, I am committed to mentoring young people, especially those from immigrant families or underserved communities, guiding them in their educational and career pursuits. I aim to establish initiatives that provide mentorship and resources to these individuals, helping them navigate the complexities of higher education and career planning. By doing so, I hope to empower a new generation of leaders who are equipped to tackle the world's challenges with empathy, innovation, and a global perspective.
Moreover, as someone with a direct connection to the Haitian community through my grandmother, I plan to engage in projects that foster development and educational opportunities in Haiti. This will not only honor my heritage but also contribute to the global community, promoting intercultural understanding and cooperation.
In conclusion, my experience as a college-bound student from an immigrant family has been both challenging and enriching. It has equipped me with a unique perspective and a set of values that I am eager to apply in my future endeavors. Through my education and experiences, I am committed to making a positive impact on the world, driving change in the aviation industry, and empowering the next generation of global leaders.

My name is Trevaughn Sheppard, a first-generation college student and a junior at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, pursuing a degree in Aviation Business Administration, focusing on Supply Chain Management in Aviation and Aerospace and a minor in Project Management. I am forging a path to influence the aviation sector.
From my early fascination with aviation sparked by a tour of The Boeing Company in fifth grade, my academic choices have been strategic steps towards my ultimate career goal: becoming the Vice President of Supply Chain at Boeing Defense, Space & Security. This ambition was etched into my mind when I witnessed the dedication of Boeing's team, igniting my passion for the field.
Joining the Army National Guard has empowered me to serve my country while managing college expenses to some degree. As the president of Future Business Leaders of America and a dedicated member of the Student Advisory Board, I am deeply engaged in community service, leadership development, and mentorship. I serve as the Vice President of the Business Eagles program at the O'Maley College of Business, a prestigious group that aims to launch high-achieving students into the dynamic aviation, and aerospace sectors. These leadership roles are instrumental in equipping me with the necessary skills to navigate the challenges in the aviation and aerospace industry.
The internships I secured at The Boeing Company, first as a Supplier Quality Intern and later as a Property Management Analyst intern, provided me with a real-world application of my studies and a deeper understanding of the aerospace sector's supply chain complexities. They also afforded me the opportunity to contribute to the industry I am so passionate about, directly linking my academic experiences with my professional development.
This scholarship is more than financial aid; it's a beacon of hope in the wake of my father's passing. His absence left a void, not just of love and guidance, but of economic support, shaking the very foundations of our home. As the sole breadwinner for five, my mother's unyielding efforts to keep us afloat have deeply moved me. Determined to lighten her load, I've shouldered the responsibility for my education costs, doing so to ensure that my siblings' futures remain bright and unhampered by our present trials. The scholarship funding will empower me to continue serving my community, maintaining my academic excellence, and contributing to the aerospace industry without the burden that financial constraints often bring. Your support would not only ease a financial burden—it would honor my father's legacy and fortify a family's dream of a better tomorrow. This scholarship will afford me the invaluable opportunity to engage in advanced projects and research initiatives, attend pivotal industry conferences, and network with leading professionals in the aviation field.
Each step of my journey is dedicated to inspiring young black professionals, demonstrating unequivocally that the peaks of success can be scaled through sheer perseverance and unwavering commitment. By advocating for inclusivity, I will encourage a more dynamic dialogue within the industry, where different viewpoints lead to smarter, more creative solutions. Granting me this opportunity is not just an investment in my future—it's a vote of confidence in a vision that transcends barriers, and a celebration of the power of ambition to redefine what it means to be the business leaders of tomorrow.

Holt Scholarship
My name is Trevaughn Sheppard, the third child of Dorothy Butler and Dewayne Sheppard. I am a first-generation college student. I'm currently a sophomore at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical Unvisierty. I am pursuing a degree in Aviation Business Administration, majoring in supply chain management in aviation and aerospace, and minoring in project management at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University. To further my education, I decided to join the Army National Guard to help offset the cost of college and a productive member of society. I am the current president of Future Business Leaders of America; I'm also on the Student Advisory Board. I work on community engagement, Leadership, and teaching skills in FBLA (Future Business Leaders of America. I recently got selected to join the Business Eagles program, a highly selective undergraduate student organization within the O’Maley College of Business that exists to launch high-performing business students into the dynamic aviation, aerospace, and space industries. I need this scholarship in order to further my education at the O'Maley College of Business. This is because with my father passing away in December of 2021, my mother is not able to support me financially to accomplish my goals. With a family of 5, my mother is doing her best to support my siblings and me. To take the load off my mother, I took on the responsibility to pay for college myself so she can continue to raise my younger siblings.
My short and long-term goals consist of graduating with honors and revolutionizing the aviation industry. I always had a strong passion for the aviation and aerospace industry and that is why I chose to go to Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University to accomplish my goals. Boeing inspired me to pursue a degree in supply chain management. I plan to work as a project manager in the supply chain industry. I previously interned at Boeing as a Supplier Quality intern last year. It was a wonderful learning experience; I was required to oversee 17 Quality High School Interns as a project manager to offer support and leadership. Also, I conducted regular meetings to track the progress of their projects and provide performance feedback and appraisals. Maintain regular communication with senior management, providing them with updates on all improvement projects. In the near future, I dream of being the vice president of the supply chain organization at Boeing Defense, Space & Security.
I want to continue studying at Embry Riddle Aeronautical University and inspire future business leaders to achieve greater heights than ever before. Through the scholarship, I will be able to work harder to achieve my goals. Aerospace technology has always intrigued me, and I hope to be able to increase my skills and knowledge in the field while completing my degree. Together with my future colleagues, I plan to research logistical strategies and change the supply chain world. In honor of my father and my dreams, I will be the first member of my family to graduate from college.
