I have always had a very big passion for technology ever since I was 7 years old because my cousins helped me discover the online world at a very early age of my life. Because of that, I am a very tech-savvy person and am often more familiar with it compared to peers my age. However, as I continue to grow, I recognize that the Internet is no longer what it used to be; it is becoming more "dangerous" rather than a place where people can connect with each other and make use of the vast pool of information offered by the Internet. This realization was what fuels my passion to make the Internet a safer place because I do not want my loved ones to someday come back to me and tell me that all their money in their bank was taken away just because they accidentally clicked on a link sent to them through text messages. That is why I will pursue an associate degree in cybersecurity at Minneapolis Community and Technical College in the upcoming Fall of 2024 and then transfer to the University of Minnesota Twin Cities to pursue a bachelor’s degree in information systems. Pursuing a degree in Cybersecurity and Information Systems, I am committed to harnessing the power of technology to generate new innovations and further fortify our current defenses against cyber threats. I am interested in safeguarding critical infrastructure, protecting sensitive data from being stolen by hackers, and upholding the principles of confidentiality, integrity, and availability. Through a multidisciplinary approach that integrates the principles of both Cybersecurity and Information Systems theory, I plan to innovate solutions in the realm of cybersecurity to bring it back to its golden age and keep online users safe, helping to take their worries away every single time they put their credit card number on a website for online purchasing. One of the many ways I currently have in mind to utilize technology to foster innovation in my field of study is through the enforcement of advanced data encryption techniques. By using encryption algorithms and cryptographic protocols, I plan to secure communication channels, safeguard data at rest or in transit, and minimize the risk of unauthorized access from outsiders. In addition to this, I am also interested in the realm of threat intelligence and proactive defense strategies. I plan on using big data analytics and machine learning algorithms to analyze vast quantities of cyber threat data in real time, identifying emerging threats, and actively fortifying the defense against cyber-attacks to help make the online world a safer place for all. Furthermore, I also want to contribute to the cybersecurity community through research and collaboration to understand more about the continuously growing power of technology in hope of being able to help address our current cybersecurity challenges that are ongoing around the world. In conclusion, technology will serve as a powerful catalyst for innovation in my upcoming course of study, enabling me to push the boundaries of cybersecurity and information systems and pave the way for a future where the Internet is safe and cyber-threats free.
