Hi, my name is Timothy Robinson and I'm from Raleigh, NC. I grew up in Goldsboro, Nc and I have 3 siblings my older brother, older sister, and younger brother. I'm 19 years old and I currently play basketball at Richard Bland College of William and Mary. I've excelled in the classroom averaging a 3.3 Gpa throughout high school as I did homeschool my senior year, and a 3.8 Gpa in my freshman year of college. Growing up I played basketball, football, and soccer but, ultimately basketball was the sport that I loved the most. Goldsboro is a very small town, so in terms of talent at a young age I was one of the best basketball players in my city being picked for local Recreation all star teams and travel basketball programs. My family and I moved to Raleigh, NC at the age of 12 I had to transfer to a whole different middle school and make new friends and relationships in the capital of the state. Moving to Raleigh would be the biggest transition for me as a basketball player as Raleigh has produced multiple NBA and high level players throughout the past years. It was difficult at first for me to adjust to as the talent in Raleigh was much better than my hometown and this pushed me. I got cut from my middle school team 7th and 8th grade year, this was very disappointing because I knew that I worked harder than everybody sacrificing hanging out with friends, family time, missing senior prom ,and losing sleep to workout in the gym for hours. It was a hard pill for me to swallow too considering that I had played for one of the top middle school travel teams in the country at the time. I even got cut 9th grade,For most teens not making the team 3 years in a row would be the end of their hoops dreams and aspirations. Even then, I had been invited to the southeast freshman camp, as I competed again many highly ranked national level players and held my own. But for me, I used getting cut as motivation to keep pushing toward my dream and shaping a unique work ethic that not many people have. At that age I knew my failures had nothing to completely deal with my skill set and it had more to deal with my confidence. My sophomore I dominated Jv tryouts my first game and instantly got moved to the varsity gym for the rest of tryouts. I made the JV team for that year, and it meant so much to me because I proved to so many peers who didn't believe in me and myself that I could do it. Proving doubters and even my own wrong has been a challenge itself, I went from getting cut left and right from school and travel teams to having recruiting interest from division one programs and being ranked as one of the top players in the state of North Carolina going into my senior year. I've stayed humble and trusted god throughout my whole journey, as I earned a full scholarship to play junior college over these last 2 years. I major in sports management and marketing as I hope to pursue becoming an agent in professional sports, specifically the NBA. My character, relationship building and communication skills have led me to connect with NBA trainers and players already to this point. Due to the adversity within my journey kids at my local gym look up to me as an example. I would appreciate this Scholarship.
