Hi, my name is Taylor Dubois. I'm currently a senior at Desoto High School in Desoto, Texas. I was born and raised in Dallas, Texas. I lived in Pleasant Grove for most of my life then moved to Desoto in middle school. My hobbies consist of drawing, reading Wattpad books, and analyzing/watching Netflix shows. I'm that one person that comments on the CGI the show used and how it could've been better. I've been interested in the arts for as long as I can remember. I have taken an art class almost every single school year since kindergarten. I use to bring my notepad to church and draw all the time, help the art department make posters for upcoming events, and I always somehow became in charge of the creative aspects in every group project. I have switched what I wanted to do as a career so many times, but I always come back to a career that deals with art and being apart of the Art World. After I graduate, I plan to attend the University of Texas at Austin to receive my Bachelor of Science degree in Arts & Entertainment Technology. While I'm there, I want to be heavily involved. I want to help set the lights up for a play or dance expo, create flyers, shirts, create graphics, or do anything that involves creating. I want to be a helping hand in anything in the Arts. The career I want to pursue is a graphic designer and work my way up to become an art director. I want to work for Marvel, Universal, or Netflix to help create graphics and special effects for movies and tv shows. It would be a dream to work on a big show like Stranger Things or an Avengers movie. While also being on the path to get my degree and getting my dream job, I also want to start my own business. I want to start a paint & sip business in Downtown Austin or Dallas. Just the idea of helping and sharing my passion for drawing with others while having a good time is exciting. I can't wait to get all my ideas laid out so I can bring my vision to life. I plan on adding a twist to it to make it different, but I'm not quite sure what I want it to be yet. All in all, I hope to achieve greatness and make an impact during college and in my career. I want to be able to say, "I was able to help put that award-winning show together" or "My business has gained major success and I'll be opening more in different states soon." I know if I stay headstrong, have faith, the support of my family, and perseverance I will be able to accomplish the goals I have already set and more. Applying to these scholarships has made me realize I'm growing up. I'm starting a new journey to adulthood, becoming more independent, and having a better sense of what I want to do in life. Lastly, thank you for being a reminder that the fight continues for black women not only in the workplace but in society in general. This will surely push me to get my degree and dominate the Arts & Entertainment industry as a young black woman.
