Greetings, my name is Taylor Bennett from Mount Vernon, New York. Political Science is my selected academic area of study because it provides me with the opportunity to study government, public policies, and political patterns. This major is the right fit for me because I will learn about the United States and the world -- and how ethics, justice, and democracy affect collective decisions. Making a difference in the American justice system will result in the dismantling of the barriers African Americans face. While in college, I want to take advantage of the opportunity to understand politics by gaining theoretical and practical knowledge. I hope to learn about American politics, relations between states, political processes, and theories. Understanding the complex justice system will aid in my fascination with law. I’m pursuing a career in law because I want to make a difference in this world, and I know I can do that by practicing. As a lawyer, I would get to advise individuals or government agencies on legal issues and represent them in court. I want to inform people of their rights and help steer them through disputes. Obtaining a college education will allow me to serve and help people in my community.
