Online gaming has been around for generations. However, it started getting more popular around the 90’s. Playing these games online leads to children social interactions in the outside world to change, whether it’s negatively or positively. The negative side of online gaming could be people losing focus o real life tasks quicker and feel the need to always be in some sort of fast paced motion going through life. They also tend to get more shy around other people and start to lose the ability to communicate thoroughly and openly. Online video games for hours can strain the eyes and can cause children to get lost in the game in a sense and lose track of time. Leading them to staying up all night and messing up in school the next day. Though gaming doesn’t have to be so frowned upon as there’s positives as well. The perks of online gaming is exactly that, it’s online; it is still interactive game play with other people. A lot of the time requiring teammates to speak with one another to beat levels or opposing teams. Video games can also give people the ability to have faster reflexes in dangerous situations. There’s no such thing as normal anyway, everyone is looked upon as their own individual. If an online gamer would like to take a crack at life in his or her own way perhaps they should be able to without interference. Social norms are often used to tell someone when they aren’t acting like how others are, yet we shouldn’t be teaching our kids to follow such norms anyway, just to be themselves and do what’s right at the end of the day. Though it can cause issues within in real life social interactions, that doesn’t mean they can’t learn those skills online or later on when they are ready to.
