    ife is an unpredictable journey, and my path has been no exception. I have faced my fair share of adversity, but through determination and unwavering perseverance, I have emerged stronger and more committed to making a positive impact on my community. Growing up in a low-income neighborhood, I encountered numerous obstacles that often threatened to hinder my dreams. The lack of resources and opportunities made it challenging to envision a brighter future. However, I refused to let these circumstances define me. With the unwavering support of my family and mentors, I devoted myself to my education, viewing it as the key to unlocking a better life. As I progressed through my academic journey, I encountered a significant setback when my family faced financial hardship, and I had to take on part-time jobs to contribute to our household expenses. Balancing work, school, and personal responsibilities was immensely taxing, and there were moments when I questioned my ability to persevere. However, the challenges I faced only fueled my determination to succeed.I sought solace in community service, discovering that helping others provided a sense of fulfillment and purpose that transcended my personal struggles. Engaging with local organizations, I became involved in initiatives aimed at uplifting underserved youth through mentorship and academic support. Witnessing the positive impact of my contributions on these young minds was transformative. It reinforced my belief in the power of compassion and empowerment to break the cycle of adversity. My experiences have ignited a deep-rooted desire to create lasting change within my community. I envision a future where every individual, regardless of their background, has access to quality education and essential resources. To achieve this, I plan to establish a nonprofit organization that focuses on providing comprehensive educational support to underprivileged students.Through this initiative, I aim to offer mentorship programs, scholarships, and skill-building workshops to equip young minds with the tools they need to thrive academically and personally. Moreover, I intend to collaborate with local schools and community centers to create after-school programs that foster a positive learning environment, enabling students to explore their passions and talents. Recognizing the importance of mental health and well-being, I wish to incorporate counseling and emotional support services within my organization. Adversity can take a toll on one's mental health, and I believe providing a safe space for individuals to share their experiences and seek guidance can be transformative.Furthermore, I aspire to establish partnerships with businesses and professionals to offer internship opportunities and job training to underprivileged youth. By facilitating access to mentorship and real-world experiences, I hope to bridge the gap between education and employment, empowering young individuals to achieve their aspirations. In conclusion, my journey of overcoming adversity has taught me the value of resilience and the power of community support. I have experienced firsthand the transformative effects of compassion and mentorship, and I am determined to give back to my community by creating opportunities for others to rise above their circumstances. Through my future nonprofit organization, I aspire to empower underserved youth, providing them with the tools, resources, and guidance they need to thrive academically, emotionally, and professionally. I am committed to fostering a future where every individual can realize their full potential, and where adversity becomes a stepping stone to success rather than an obstacle in their path.

    As I reflect upon my upbringing, I am immensely proud to call myself the product of a strong, determined, and loving single mother. Growing up in a single-parent household has been both a challenging and transformative experience that has shaped me into the person I am today. Through adversity and unwavering determination, my mother has instilled in me the values of resilience, compassion, and gratitude. The early years of my life were defined by financial struggles and limited resources. My mother worked tirelessly to provide for me and ensure that my basic needs were met. Witnessing her relentless efforts to make ends meet while sacrificing her own comforts taught me the significance of hard work and perseverance. I learned to value the importance of education, as my mother constantly emphasized its ability to uplift our circumstances and open doors to a brighter future. Living with a single mother, I quickly became aware of the countless responsibilities she bore. She was not only the provider but also the nurturer, disciplinarian, and emotional support all rolled into one. In her, I found a role model who exemplified the essence of selflessness. Her dedication to my well-being has inspired me to strive for excellence and give my best in everything I pursue. I have learned that even in the face of challenges, one must hold onto hope and strive for a better life. One of the most significant aspects of growing up with a single mother was the quality time we spent together. In a single-parent household, the parent-child bond often becomes even stronger, as both parties depend on each other for emotional support. Through our heartfelt conversations, my mother taught me the value of empathy and understanding. Her unwavering support during difficult times provided me with a sense of security that helped me navigate the storms of life. Despite the hardships we faced, my mother never allowed me to develop a sense of entitlement. She taught me to be grateful for the little things and to appreciate the efforts of others. Through her actions, she demonstrated that it is not the possessions we have, but the love we share and the connections we build that truly matter. Growing up without a father figure was not without its challenges. I had to learn to be resourceful and independent from a young age, acquiring valuable life skills that have proven invaluable throughout my journey. Moreover, this experience has given me a unique perspective on diverse family structures, fostering a sense of inclusivity and acceptance toward others. My upbringing with a single mother has been the cornerstone of my ambition and drive to create a positive impact on the world. Witnessing her perseverance in the face of adversity has taught me the importance of giving back to the community and helping others in need. I am committed to breaking the cycle of poverty and ensuring that every child has access to education and opportunities, just as my mother did for me. In conclusion, growing up with a single mother has molded me into a resilient, compassionate, and grateful individual. Through her determination and unconditional love, my mother has shown me the strength that lies within us to overcome obstacles and emerge stronger. Her guidance has ignited a desire within me to be a force for positive change in the world and to inspire others to rise above their circumstances. During my high school career, my vision of my future has changed countless times and it is reflected in the clubs/activities I partook in. For the longest time, I believed it was my calling to become a writer. There was no particular reason for it other than the acclaim I got from my humanities teachers and the push for me to pursue this career path. But that dream quickly turned into a nightmare when I learned I do not particularly love writing and would detest my existence if I had to do it for the rest of my life. At the time of this realization, It was my sophomore year while I was an active member of the School Newspaper and Journalism club. I asked myself, “Will I be a leader in my own story?” The next year, I made a vow that I would only do what made me happy so I resigned from those clubs and took a new interest in the robotics club at my school. Where I found my love for artificial intelligence and technology. In my journey, I was able to recognize who I am and who I wanted to be without the influence of others. Though it was a challenge I wouldn’t take it back because it made me the strongwilled leader I am today. As a low-income, first-generation college student, this scholarship will help me greatly in my pursuit of higher education. In 2020, my mother who is my primary guardian had a heart attack which put her out of work. Therefore, she cannot afford to give me any money for school which is limiting my options for school without debt. I have no problem working a little harder for my dreams. No matter what career path I choose, my goal in life has always been to be a positive change in the world. With eighteen years of life, my volunteering experience is quite expensive and that is due in part to my family. As the youngest child of seven, I often feel like an afterthought my parents are waiting to get rid of. So, as young as twelve I started volunteering at my local REC center, warming food on the weekends to kids in need and tutoring after school to feel needed. Over the years I have participated in environmentally friendly organizations which have in turn bled into the lives of my family. For instance, getting my family to recycle, limit their running water, walk places instead of driving, and use metal water bottles instead of disposable plastic ones. In the future, I hope to inspire the young people in my family to get a higher education because that has not always been at our disposal, and pursue their dreams. While in college, I plan on going into computer science which will prepare me for my pursuit of creating designs and artificial intelligence later on in life. I hope to engage with preexisting environmentally friendly organizations to better their standing with whichever tech company I find myself in

At the time, I was going through one of the worst times in my life. My junior year was not ending like I wanted it to. My grades were falling further than they ever had before, I was not happy, I had no friends and just stayed home and slept all day. My mother got enough and pushed me to go to the doctor. And over the course of several weeks and months, I go a lot of maybe diagnoses and but they finally settled on one, BPD( Bipolar Depression). This came as a shock to me. Through it all, I was okay with the depression and anxiety diagnoses because to me " they weren't that bad" but when I found out I was on the spectrum of being schizophrenic, I lost it. Growing up, I didn’t have many inspirational role models that I would want to mirror my life after. My mother was in one abusive relationship after another. I went into an endless loop of feeling crazy, denial, depression, and finally acceptance. Until one day something snapped in me. Honestly, I think I just got tired of feeling alone. With the help of my therapist coupled with my exhaustion from being overcome with negative emotions, I was able to get out of that dark place. Following that summer I entered my senior year, where I am now. This year has been a rollercoaster, though as of now we are only 100 days in. Only 100? What am I saying, this year feels like it just started. This year my goal was to try to give back more, to myself and other. I try towake up everyday and shower, drink water, eat and appriciate the people around me. All of which I've struggled with before. For years now, through my depression and now bipolar diagnosis, all I wanted was to make the people around me feel better than I did. No matter what career path I chose, my goal in life has always been to be a positive change in the world. To not just worry about the economic side of the career but happiness as well because I cannot stress this enough. It matters. Your mental health is just if not more imortant than your physical. While in college, I plan on going into computer science which will prepare me for my pursuit of creating designs and artificial intelligence later on in life! .

    Encountering many obstacles at an early age, I didn’t foresee making it to this point in my life: A high school senior just a couple of months away from graduation. I am currently Eight-teen years old and a senior at Acellus Academy, which is an online accredited homeschooling program. Due to bullying and social anxiety my mother and I decided it would be best to finish my last year at home so I could do my very best. Now six months in, I don't think I could've made a better choice. Though learning on your own can be harder than having a teacher there in present, I wouldn't trade places. Growing up, I didn’t have many aspirational role models that I would want to mirror my life after. My mother was in one abusive relationship after another. She was in and out of school wanting to make something of herself but it seemed like nothing ever aligned for her. To date, my mother currently has seven children, me being the youngest. A product of their environment, my mom's first couple of children traveled a similar path that my mother did. They found trouble with the law and were in and out of jail constantly. Noticing the overwhelming struggles that they encountered in part to their lack of education and poor choices, I sought a different path in life. set goals for me, I made the choices to put myself out there even when I wasn't treated the best by people, and finally, I surrounded myself with positive individuals that could provide me with the guidance and nurturing needed to achieve my goals. If I could pursue anything in my life it would be to continue problem-solving and expanding my knowledge to help the people around me. Though, STEM has always been in my life, being I was born in 2005. STEM started to be an obsession in my Sophomore graphic design class. After many years of just cruising and having no passion for doing much, being introduced to designing on a computer opened me up to a whole world of things. Like computer Science. That summer I entered a Program where I was forced out of my comfort zone and immersed in the actual world by the program directors. They challenged us to design and build our own websites and codes while demonstrating the forethought and imagination needed to stay happy while doing this. Because I now understand that what I do in this school is the greatest opportunity of my life, anyone you ask will tell you that I'll be the first one inquiring what everything. Other than the ability to turn things from scratch into something, the over-joyous feeling you get when solving a problem is what keeps me going in this career. There's nothing like that euphoric joy when you create something that a couple of months ago you wouldn't have dreamed of is what keeps me going. As a low-income, first-generation college student, this scholarship will help me greatly in my pursuit of higher education. In 2020, my mother who is my primary guardian had a heart attack which put her out of work. Therefore, she cannot afford to give me any money for school which is limiting my options for school without debt. With this scholarship, if given the opportunity I know I could excel. I have no problem working a little harder for my dreams.

    It would be justified to say that my experiences throughout my 18 years of living have been rough.Though there isn’t one experience that hasn’t shaped me, there is one that comes to mind from over a decade ago that I can’t seem to forget. A little backstory is needed in advance. Growing up both my parents were alcoholics and addicted to nicotine. Given they were born in the 60s/ 70s and this was normalized, having children was not wise. My first time being affected by their addictions was in the womb. My mother smoked while she was pregnant so 4/7 of her kids have lung and breathing problems including me. This has hindered me from trying different sports on an accelerated level. One was for the longest time I thought my destiny was to be a track and field racer. My doctors and instructors would tell me to stop but at the time nobody could stop me. I would work out and run until I passed out. This was my routine until one day I passed out for longer than normal and ended up in the hospital. There I confessed to it all. Still, all I heard was it's not my fault I was born this way. It infuriated me but all of my anger came to a head when he said if I didn't stop I could die. My way of making friends, my love, and my future was all gone. After this transpired I removed myself from the track team of my own will. I was just tired and if I couldn't go as far as I wanted in the sport I felt there was no point. From ages 15-17, my mother became greatly ill and I had to take care of her. She had a heart attack and the smoking finally caught up to her lungs, giving her COPD. She began to have seizures and lose weight to the point that she was unrecognizable but eventually with the help of the doctors she was able to pull through. At age 17, 2 years after the track incident, I confronted my mother on how she affected my life and it was not the outcome I wanted. Because she was no longer drinking and we became closer over the years I figured it would be no problem for her to apologize. She expressed to me that the "hobby" I participated in as a child was not my future and she saw more for me. That " It was not her fault, God made me that way." That turned into a screaming match where she ended up the victim and complained that I was going to make her end up in the hospital again. No different than always when things did not go her way. Though I have not directly experienced drug and/or alcohol addiction it has directly impacted and been prevalent in my life whether or not I wanted it to be. I have never taken a drink or smoked anything and I am grateful for my fear. Not only that, I am grateful to have an understanding of drug addicts and alcoholics that I wouldn't have had if I did not experience what I did growing up.
    @normandiealise #GenWealth Scholarship
    Any asset that a family passes down to its children or grandchildren, including cash, investment funds, stocks and bonds, real estate, and enterprises, is referred to as generational wealth. Families can construct more secure financial futures based on generational wealth. As a Black American the lingering effects of redlining: a process in which banks impose barriers including higher APRs, fewer loan approvals, and higher risk profiles for mortgage applicants in historically black regions, is the reason why the racial wealth disparity in the U.S. is wider now than it was in 1960. One of the numerous economic injustices preventing minorities from creating wealth for future generations is redlining and the demolition of black cities. From the massacre of Tulsa to The drowning of Oscarville to the eviction of Seneca Village. Each and all thrived economically and culturally yet all were viciously put to an end. I plan to break the cycle by continuing to practice healthy spending habits and taking financial literacy classes in college as I did in high school. One fairly simple method to enhance the financial destiny of future generations is by passing on what I learn to my children and helping them form healthy financial habits at an early age. In addition, I'll also have a will and life insurance to provide for your family financially in the event of my passing. In my family, generational wealth was never a priority. My mother, father, grandmother, aunts, and uncles worked jobs that paid the bills. They either never went to college/ learned a trade which greatly affected my generation of young adults. Many of my ancestors stressed to their children the importance of hard work and perseverance but never knew or understood the value or significance of creating and passing on generational wealth. Growing up I might have not known what I wanted out of life but I knew what I did not. I do not want to work a job I hate to support a child that I had prematurely or work a job and not a career I love. The kids in my generation either went on the same path as their parents and had kids young and now work to support that child or are looking for generational wealth in college. Though we are still finding our way I’m proud of where we all are. Because we all are trying our best to be better than the ones before us. My goal is to make sure that the younger members of my family give priority to this idea and work to ensure that future generations are aware of and motivated to build generational wealth.

I hope to engage with preexisting environmentally friendly organizations to better their standing with whichever tech company I find myself in.

Though I work a part-time job after school, it pays just enough for me to eat. I have no problem working a little harder for my dreams. No matter what career path I chose, my goal in life has always been to be a positive change in the world. With eighteen years of life, my volunteering experience is quite expensive and that is due in part to my family. As the youngest child of seven, I often feel like an afterthought my parents are waiting to get rid of. Now six months in and I don't think I could've made any better a choice. Though learning on your own can be harder than having a teacher there in present, I wouldn't trade places. Growing up, I didn’t have many aspirational role models that I would want to mirror my life after. My mother was in an abusive relationship after another. Noticing the overwhelming struggles that they encountered in part to their lack of education and poor choices, I sought a different path in life. set goals for myself, I made the choices to put myself out there even when I wasn't treated the best by people, and finally, I surrounded myself with positive individuals that could provide me with the guidance and nurturing needed to achieve my goals. If I could pursue anything in my life it would be to continue problem-solving and expanding my knowledge to help the people around me. Though, STEM has always been in my life, being I was born in 2005. STEM started to be an obsession in my Sophomore graphic design class. After many years of just cruising and having no passion to do much. When I was introduced to designing on a computer, it opened me up to a whole world of things. Other than The ability to make things from scratch into something that could be priceless, the fun and feeling you get when solving a problem is what keeps me going in this career. The euphoric joy when you create something that a couple of months ago you wouldn't have dreamed of is what keeps me going. In STEM I know I could make a huge impact with my capacity attachment to art and fun. I won't ever give up on something that I started, which is one of the things I love about myself. Lastly my potential.

I was diagnosed with Bipolar Depression in the summer of last year you think I would've handled it better than I did. I went into an endless loop of feeling crazy, denial, depression, and finally acceptance. Until one day something snapped in me. Honestly, I think I just got tired of feeling that way. With the help of my therapist coupled with my exhaustion from being overcome with negative emotions, I was able to get out of that dark place.
