Hello! I am currently an undergraduate student at Duke University. I am majoring in psychology as well as fulfilling my requirements for medical school. I aspire to pursue a career in obstetrics and gynecology, through which I intend to provide care to underserved communities. My academic journey has been unique. I began my time at Duke in 2013 with the intention of graduating with the Class of 2017. However, significant mental health challenges led me to take time off from my studies. I've grown to feel immensely grateful for this time and appreciative of the personal growth that it has afforded me. I developed a beautiful and layered perspective of the world, along with an enhanced need to provide care. I am a strong advocate for mental health treatment and I hope to incorporate my education in psychology into my future treatment practices. Exceptional patient care is essential to me. I hope to offer an environment in which patients feel truly seen and are confident that their needs will be met. I am also an advocate of holistic care and seek to combine its benefits with Western medicine. I am excited to continue my academic journey and extremely eager to discover where my path will lead me. I have two years left in my undergraduate degree. However, I will not receive any financial aid for my final year. I would have to pay out-of-pocket or take out loans in order to graduate, neither of which are viable options given my financial situation and the cost of attendance. I hope to earn enough money in scholarships and grants in order to finally accomplish this dream.
