I want to be a data scientist, software application developer, web developer, cyber security specialist, full stack developer, coder, and musician. I know its a lot, but I want to be able to not only troubleshoot issues, but to create applications that can be beneficial to others. I want to design beautiful websites, and analyze code, correcting errors. It is my goal to be capable of doing many tech jobs, and also teach others about different tech skills. I have a passion for learning, and teaching, music (the whole industry), helping others, and fixing things. If you award me a scholarship, I will be using it to further my education bringing me step by step closer to my dream of changing the tech industry, and assisting others in acquiring in learning computer skills, and important skills everyone needs these days to survive in this new age.
I appreciate your consideration and look forward to having you come along on this journey with me.
Sincerely,
Talitha Hartmann

Cybersecurity & The Latinx Community Scholarship
Cybersecurity is one of the most important types of education a person can receive right now. With more and more smart devices and every manner of people on the internet, the need for information and individuals to be secure online has never been greater. With catfishes and hackers crawling through cyberspace no one is safe, but this doesn't always have to be the case. While the government wants a way into the black market, parents just want to know their children won't be groomed to be some stranger and taken away. We can do this together by working on an algorithm to block out accounts that are duplicated and protect the children from offenders that are connected through Facebook, twitch, Instagram, etc.
I also want to create a program to help children with autism and their parents better understand each other. As an individual who found out in her twenties that she was autistic, I have spent the last six years learning about my condition and attempting to recognize my coping skills so that I can help parents I have met calm their kids out of autistic shock. I want to build an application for smartphones and tablets that can help children to communicate when they can't find the words to say and for the parents a guide that can be created for the child's needs to soothe their anxieties and fears and allow them to use the magnificent brains God gave them. I want to do this through music curated with the specific needs and likes of the child so that the parent can place sound-canceling headphones over their ears to remove the tension the child is feeling by quieting the sounds around them. I find that this is the easiest way to help individuals with autism ease out of shock.
My dream is to be able to work a great job that allows me to shine, and gives me the freedom to work a flexible schedule, because of my health conditions my doctor recommended that I get a job that isn't stressful on my body so that I can thrive and help my family with finances in a more stable manner. I have been struggling with five different kinds of arthritis for around four years, this has caused me to work thirteen-hour days on broken limbs for two of the four years. The pain is excruciating so I will be unbelievably happy when things begin to work in my favor. Thank you for your time and consideration.
Ms. Susy’s Disney Character Scholarship
My favorite Disney character has always been Ariel. Ariel is a princess and a mermaid. The mermen are not supposed to have contact with the humans, because King Triton says they are barbaric and cruel. Ariel fell in love with this prince who is human and whom she rescued on a stormy night that ended in destruction. Ariel found beauty in all the simply human trinkets she found in sunken ships, she created her own gallery filled with all the spoils of her explorations of these ships. She watched as he searched for the girl who saved him, he always mentioned her singing voice. She longed to be with this human to walk with him in the sun and learn what human life is like. She sacrificed the best of herself (her voice) just for the slim chance that Eric (the man she saved) would fall in love with her. She had no voice, and three days to make this man realize she was the girl who saved him and make him fall in love. The witch who took her voice played dirty and made it next level impossible for any spark to ignite between Ariel and Eric, no matter how hard Ariel tried Eric couldn't see her for herself because she lost what was most memorable about her. Ariel is resilient though. She never gives up and she saves Eric from marrying the witch and gets her voice back, she saves he dad, and the whole ocean when she defeats The sea witch and her dad finally realizes that she truly loved Eric and gives her permanent legs so she can be with her love.
It is Ariel's determination, curiosity, strength, resilience, courage, humility, kindness, sympathy, loyalty and unconditional love that lead me to favor her above the rest. In fact I named my daughter after her.
In the face of complete chaos, calculated scheming that the sea witch used to gain her voice and steal her soul she didn't let her pain stop her from saving them all when she realized that the witch was the bride, she swam to the ship, defeated the witch twice in one day, and married her dream man. Now she really is a "Part of their world".
Thank you for the opportunity to share and for reading this.
Sincerely,
Talitha Hartmann
KT Scholarship for Individuals Coming From or Going to Cybersecurity
WinnerLast year I was scrolling my Facebook when one of my friend's profiles posted a challenge to present a name that started with a specific letter, ended with one particulanoteer, for a female, and five letters. I won, so I thought she had reached out to me. She said I won and needed my account info to send the money; she wanted my email address, my name, my phone number, and then in a twist, $100. I explained to this person I thought was my friend that I didn't have any money. This person hacked my accounts, stole my Facebook, and made it her own. I was devastated. I have had this Facebook account since 2007. My whole life was on this Facebook. Every picture of my children (who no longer are in my life), and my accomplishments, in life, were noted there with backing. I can never get any of this back. I called the police, fraud, and contacted Facebook support, but no one could return my account to me because this stranger not only hacked me but changed the email used and the password. This moment the felt like the end of my life, became the inspiration for my career path.
I choose to study not only cyber security but also software technology, programming, and development. I want to create an algorithm for social media sites that will drop accounts that show predatory intentions. We must stop identity theft, fraud, account theft, and the grooming of victims. We need to prevent cyberbullying. The very thought that these people can take everything from you just because you gave your email and name is terrifying. Protection.
My career path has opened my knowledge of computer software, coding, algorithms, programming, and website design. These are the tools used in cyber security. They allow me to see the flaws in social media websites' coding and correct them. These courses will also allow me to create a new, safe social media site should I choose to.
My most recent class is PHI103 Informal logic; it has changed how I view interactions with others and introduced me to critical thinking. I can now create a solid/valid argument and evaluate opposing arguments with the principle of charity; this gives the opponent the benefit of the doubt while carefully analyzing the premises and the conclusion to see if they have a more robust/weaker argument. I learned that it is essential to hold a growth mindset, allowing your viewpoint to expand and sharing the knowledge acquired non-persuasively. These few points I mentioned here are just the tip of the iceberg that is informal and logical. I have also learned that coding is very similar to argument forms and patterns, using calculus, algebra, probability, and set theory. These are just used in generating code, where cyber criminals seek a backdoor entrance. If they find a weak point, they will utilize it.
I hope what I have expressed here shows you my intentions and mission. I appreciate your time reading this, and I look forward to hearing from you.
Sincerely,
Talitha Hartmann
