Hello! Thank you for visiting my bold profile! My name is Tahliyah Hodge, and I hope to receive my bachelor’s degree in performing arts at American Musical and Dramatic Academy. After attaining my conservatory certificate at the New York City campus, I will be attending the campus in Los Angeles to finish up. In May 2021, I graduated from Bassett High. I wasn't sure what I was going to do for college. I knew I was in love with the arts, but never considered a performing arts school. I had a friend get accepted into AMDA, and immediately did my research. I figured I'd apply to schools starting with the one I wanted to get in the most, which was AMDA. I was told I'd have to wait about two weeks before I heard a decision. Only days later I was scrolling through my email looking for something unrelated to college, and there it was. When I imagined getting my decision letter, I wanted to record myself opening it, so if it was good news I could catch my reaction. That was not the case. The title of the email was "You've been accepted into AMDA!" Instead of having my surprised moment that I wanted, I got to surprise my friends and family with the news. I would call them and make normal everyday conversation, and then out of nowhere, blurt out, "I got accepted." The reactions were priceless! It felt like a dream. My family was proud, but they were worried. AMDA is a private school in New York City, so the price was pretty steep. I was originally set to leave in October 2021, but my financial situation fell apart. I hope to be set to start next semester. February 2022.
