I grew up in a small town of a population of 500 people. The school I attended
has 100 kids middle school and high school. Being part of such a small community gave us the opportunity to interact with one another in many social events and collaborate with other families growing up. Although the community was small and made it difficult for my Hispanic family to fit in at times. Throughout my high school career I had to translate for my parents during teacher conferences or other school events. Seeing the need of bilingual students impacted the way I viewed society. I grew up with different cultures compared to the American families in the community. We learned from their families and they learned from My family and shared a lot of new. Despite all of the differences, we came together and trusted one another to create a special bond the united, our small community. We offered support to local businesses and received support from staff members and community members whenever we needed. Of course giving back was a big part of my life. Road cleanups and City beautification were some of the events we had to contribute to community service which impacted not only us but the people around us. All that was required was a helping hand. Of course growing up with a class of 26 students competition was a big part of school. Having those friendly competitions pushed me into being a better person, a better member of a community, a better student and overall has taught me some valuable skills that I will use throughout my life and career. Being able to participate in many school clubs and extracurriculars has taught me that teamwork and Trust work well together and at times you have to be a leader but it is good to know when to be a follower. I am glad I grew up in a small town and I am ready to participate in the next phase of my life because of it. For my future career I plan to pursue a bachelor's degree in pre imaging technology and continue to work towards achieving my life dream of becoming an imaging technician. I have always wanted to help people around me and because of the small community I grew up in, I was able to find my passion in healthcare. I will use my bilingual skills as well which is very needed in healthcare.Thank you.
