Coming into the field of cooking, I never realized how competitive it would be. Being a young black woman in the industry of Culinary Arts is an extreme challenge because people tend to look down on you and the culinary world is a male dominant field. People see me as a child with no abilities and someone who does not know what she is doing because I am young and black. Well that isn't the case because I am persistent, dominating, powerful, and yet humble about my abilities in the kitchen. I know what I am doing and learn as I go. This might come off very confident and cocky however I am not cocky but very confident. I know my talent and I know my worth. I went to school and graduated with a 3.6 and when I walked across the stage with my degree I was very proud of myself. My goal is to learn everything about cooking as I progress through these years of school. My passion is cooking and learning everything about food because it brings me joy and comfort. It makes me so peaceful and happy that I am in Culinary Arts school after all these years. I want to be the best female chef, no I want to be the best chef in the whole wide world. My goal is to have a beautiful restaurant with a great team who wants to grow and become someone with me. That is my goal and passion to send my love through my cooking.

Everybody has goals in their lifetime, but do they achieve them. A goal is the object of a person’s effort or ambition. In life people truly do not know where they would end up as far as their career path. Goals are particularly important to me and I feel really accomplished when I fulfill them. Goals also let you be the best that you can be, and it will let you live your life to the fullest. Being a person who went to a few colleges and not being satisfied with the outcome from their major was a lesson learned. I have always had a goal to become the best female chef and own my own restaurant one day.
Going to Culinary Arts school is the most important goal in my life right now. I am happy that I have accomplished one of my goals in life already. The passion that I have with food is breath taking because it sends me to another state of mind which is at ease. I love to learn new techniques and learn basic ideas with food. My goal now is to finish Culinary Arts school with all A’s and come out with the beauty of knowing I can go to the next level of cooking.
There are many things that I am certain about myself and three of them are persistence, passion, and most importantly love. It was not always easy to agree with becoming a chef one day. Growing up as a child I wanted to become a judge. I steered in another direction in middle school because I learned that I can really cook and being in the kitchen was always my happy place. Making people smile as they are eating my food was always a great feeling in my heart. Listening to someone bragging about your food is a trophy that you are giving yourself each time. Having the ability to heal someone's soul through your cooking is breathtaking. I chose this career path because it is so much to learn, it is peaceful, it's international, and I will never get bored with it. Food makes me happy, the smell of it, the taste of it, and the presentation. Also, food is the way of life and you cannot live without it.
In 2019, the year of obstacles and breakthrough for me because I have gone through so much. I started off with a bad car accident , I went into a bad depression that made me lose 25 lbs in less than 2 months, and then I found a small lump in my breast with inflammation. In 2020, I wanted to quit school so bad because I was so tired. I was working long days and going to school full-time, however I didn't give up. 2021 came in and it's getting better for me so I think then anxiety hit me to the point I couldn't feel anything at all. Stayed on me for 2 days and then went away. April 21, 2022 first graduation and then May 7th came in I graduated with my Associate's Degree in Culinary Arts. If anyone doesn't know 7 in the Bible is the finished work of God and completion. 3*7 is 21 and it's three weeks before you get to the 21st and it's also 7 days a week. I just wanted to let the devil know we came, we conquered, and we completed. I learned that never give up on your dreams and goals because you are almost there at the door to fulfill them.
