Bio

Currently advancing my education and remaining purposeful in my career field of emergency medicine. I’ve been giving back to my community and advocating for public safety since 2001 as a NC Paramedic. I was adopted at the age of 2 by a military family and raised in a disciplined but loving structured environment. Raised with morals and attended private Christian academies and public schools through the states as my parents transferred bases. I love traveling and experiencing different cultures and find respect for all. I’m currently a mother to 5 children, 2 biological and 3 adopted. I have always found solace in community service and advocating for others. Married into a law enforcement family and promote leadership and accountability in all aspects of life. I’m well diverse in a wide range of subjects and can overcome obstacles and remain resilient.

I just turned 43 and finished my first semester at my local community college. I’m perusing my Associates in Nursing. I’ve been a certification Paramedic for over 20 years after completing my Adult High School Diploma at a community college. Core classes and a degree were never a foreseeable option for me due to income. I’ve decided to go to school after all these years because it was available to me after significant financial changes in the home. I was adopted and raised by my aunt and uncle and now my two nieces and nephew have been adopted by my husband and myself. Being a full time Paramedic made ends meet for our two children but now that our family is bigger, I am furthering my education and skills to provide for our new future. Our bank accounts is small but our home and our hearts are big and full. I will break a generational barrier and be the first to graduate and complete a degree. I’m also setting an example for these children. Anything is possible and you are never to old, it’s never too late and selflessness. I’ve given back to my community for over 20 years and been in the service of others. The gift of service has always given me purpose and now I’m applying it in several different ways. I also set the example of making all As and Bs this first semester. My nieces and nephews have been following in my footsteps and have maintained honor roll. July 2025 will make two years they have been in our home. My husband is in law enforcement and we have instilled in them the gift of service. I have recently been applying for scholarships due to income restrictions in the home as currently he is the only one working. I was working over 60 hours a week to increase our income and missing out on family moments. I’m looking forward to finishing my Nursing Degree and not have to work so many hours and being able to raise and enjoy my family. Stressful situations have always been well controlled in my line of work but on the home front they require a different stance. I’m excited to see what the future holds for our family. Each day is a new day and our family becomes stronger with every achievement. I can’t wait to look back and reminisce on the stumbling blocks that became stepping stones.

Resigning from my job to become a full time student and mother was one of the hardest decisions I’ve ever made. I knew without a doubt it had to be done. This was a complete identity switch for me but I am more fulfilled with this purpose than my prior role. Stressful situations have always been well controlled in my line of work but on the home front they require a different stance. I’m excited to see what the future holds for our family.
