Hello, My name is Serenity Kell. I graduated Castle Rock high school June 2022, and am currently attending Perry Technical Institute for the Instrumentation and Industrial Automation and Technology Program. I chose this program during my senior year of high school, and I have many reasons for deciding to go into trades. One of them being I didn’t want to go to a 4-year university to study something I can go elsewhere and complete it in half the time and get hired out of the schooling. Another deciding factor is that at this trade school, they treat the days as a work day, where you clock in and out for the day and then only have a 30 minute lunch. What they are doing is reciprocating what we most likely will be doing out in the field. I also chose this program because I know of many people who came and went through this program and graduated with a great job. These are just some factors that I used to decide that I wanted to attend a trade school. Instrumentation is a great program for many reasons as well. There are many job opportunities exiting this school, they help you get a job at the end of the program, and they also let you leave up to one month early to start your job and you are still eligible to receive your certificate. There will always be a large amount of job opportunities for the upcoming years. This is because today is a world of automation, and instrumentation technicians are a very important part of the automation process because if something were to break or go wacky then they are there to fix it. Some job opportunity examples are working at a paper mill, liquified natural gas plant, water treatment plant, any sort of manufacturing facility. I am excited to complete this program and begin working because I should always be able to find a job in this profession. I will also be earning enough money when I begin working to sustain the lifestyle I grew up in. I am also gonna be a female in trades so that will be exciting to be able to be women in trades. The trade I want to and currently am learning is Instrumentation and Industrial Automation and Technology. As you can see there are many reasons I chose this as my future career in trades.
