My community has been a source of many learning experiences for me. I am always involved in some kind of service activity. Volunteering became a passion for me, as I enjoy the feeling of making a difference. I love to demonstrate my skills and abilities to others and earn their appreciation. I have a strong motivation to succeed and please people.
My community is like my family, they have shown me things I didn't even know I could do. My work in environmental cleanup has inspired me to pursue positive change. My family always told me I had a lively personality and a lot to say; I still think that’s true. In elementary school, I participated in plays at the Britt every year. I wanted to be a lead actor because I was confident and outgoing. However, I soon realized that acting was not my forte, but I excelled at stage crew and setting things up. That’s how I developed a passion for volunteering.
When I went to Ruch Outdoor Community School, I did a lot of volunteer work. I helped clean hiking trails, worked at Sanctuary One, applied plaster to earth houses, and more. As I grew older, I took on bigger projects, such as cleaning up Cantrall Buckley Park and Applegate Lake. Once, I even found a car battery in a bush. When I finish high school I want to put the gifts I was given from my community to work.
Growing up, I learned how to network effectively with different kinds of people. This skill has inspired me to pursue a career in marketing, where I can connect with customers and clients. In my college decision-making class, I had the opportunity to job shadow a principal broker, who impressed me with his or her ability to work with people.
I felt a strong passion for this kind of work, and I decided to plan my college education accordingly. I know that I have to work hard to achieve my dreams, and I am ready for the challenge. I am grateful for the skills and values that my community has taught me, and I want to give back to them by using my talents.
My family has also had a huge impact on my life, my mom being my number one supporter through everything has always made me feel like I am good enough to pursue my goals. She has encouraged me to follow my passions and never give up on my dreams. She has also taught me how to be patient, respectful and responsible. My mom is my role model and my best friend, and I am so thankful for her presence in my life.
