FinalistBio
I am a high school senior who has been volunteering since I was six years old. I have volunteered at various locations because I love to help people as often as possible. I am hoping to make a difference and positive impact in the lives of those who I encounter.
I have played numerous sports since I was 3 years old. I have played basketball, wrestle, dance (I danced for 2 years doing hip hop, acro, and praise dance because my mom wanted to prepare my feet for football. It worked, I'm quick and light on my feet), football, and my favorite sport is lacrosse.
Growing up in a single parent low-income household, I saw how difficult it was for my mother to save money. She invested most of her money in making sure me and my sister participated in positive activities and went to good schools.
This has inspired, encouraged, and motivated me to want to learn about finances, which is my major when I attend college.
I will be the first male in my family to ever go to college (and I will graduate) and I am super excited about attending college.

My name is Sean Bailey II and I'm a 17-year-old senior at Roman Catholic High School.
During my time at Roman Catholic, I have learned so much about myself, the importance of
getting a good education, and the meaning of brotherhood.
I grew up in North Philadelphia, which is a low-income community. Growing up in my
community I noticed that the majority of the people do not know the importance of properly
investing, saving money, building their credit, have life insurance, or wisely spend their money.
The vast majority of people in my community are not educated in the financial field nor have
anyone to educate them in the field of finances.
I grew up in a single parent working-class family where we lived paycheck to paycheck
with very little resources to save. My mother worked up to two jobs to provide for me and my
sister. This is why I'm so enthusiastic about learning finances and I will major in
Finance/Accounting when I attend college.
My grandfather, who is my mentor, was the main person to point out the importance of
finances to me. He told me about the importance of paying your bills on time, saving money,
having a will, having life insurance, building your credit, and investing in stocks and bonds.
Then when I started looking into it I realized he was correct. I then fell in love with the thought
of finance and helping others in my community with their finances and financial education.
I also prayed and asked the Lord if this is His will for me, and he showed multiple signs
that it is. I'm not only going into a field that I know I would love but something that I know I'll
be amazing at and help educate people about finances. I love math, helping others and most
importantly I love God, who is the joy of my life. "I can do all things through Christ which
strengthens me," Philippians 4:13 KJV.
I am looking forward to attending college and will be the first male in my family to ever
go to college and I plan to graduate from college. I am willing to do my best to succeed. I will
utilize 100 percent of my time and effort at all times to complete all schoolwork, assignments,
and projects. I promise you I'm one of the most hard-working, respectful, ambitious, unique, and
most dedicated young man you'll ever meet.
So, please consider me for this opportunity and to assist me to go to college. Please
consider me for any available scholarships so that I will have the opportunity to attend the
college of my choice which is Virginia State University.
Thank you in advance!

Thomas Mashig Foundation Scholarship
My name is Sean Bailey II, I'm a 16-year-old who is a senior at Roman Catholic High
School. I grew up in North Philadelphia, which is a low-income community. Growing up in my
community I noticed that the majority of the people do not know how to properly invest, save
money, build their credit, have life insurance, or wisely spend their money. The vast majority of
people in my community are not educated in the financial field nor have anyone to educate them
in the field of finances.
I then fell in love with the thought
of finance and helping others in my community with finances and financial education.
I am looking forward to attending college and will be the first male in my family to go to
college and I plan to graduate from college. I am willing to do my best to succeed. I will utilize
100 percent of my time and effort at all times to complete all schoolwork, assignments, and

My name is Sean Bailey II, I'm a 17-year-old who is a senior at Roman Catholic High
I then fell in love with the thought
of finance and helping others in my community with finances and financial education.

My grandfather, who is my mentor, was the main person to point out the importance of
finances to me. He told me about the importance of paying your bills on time, saving money,
having a will, having life insurance, building your credit, and investing in stocks and bonds.
Then when I started looking into it I realized he was correct. I then fell in love with the thought
of finance and helping others in my community with finances and financial education.
I am looking forward to attending college and will be the first male in my family to go to
college and I plan to graduate from college. I am willing to do my best to succeed. I will utilize
100 percent of my time and effort at all times to complete all schoolwork, assignments, and
projects. I promise you I'm one of the most hard-working, respectful, ambitious, unique, and
most dedicated young man you'll ever meet. So, please consider me for this opportunity and to
assist me to go to college. Please consider me for any available scholarships so that I will have
the opportunity to attend the college of my choice.

Scholar Budget Define Your Dream Scholarship
My name is Sean Bailey II, I'm a 16-year-old who is a senior at Roman Catholic High School. I
grew up in North Philadelphia, which is a low-income community. Growing up in my community
I noticed that the majority of the people do not know how to properly invest, save money, build
their credit, have life insurance, or wisely spend their money. The vast majority of people in my
community are not educated in the financial field nor have anyone to educate them in the field of
finances.
I grew up in a single parent working-class family where we lived paycheck to paycheck
with very little resources to save. My mother worked up to two jobs to provide for me and my sister.
This is why I'm so enthusiastic about learning finances and I will major in Finance/Accounting when I attend college.
My grandfather, who is my mentor, was the main person to point out the importance of finances
to me. He told me about the importance of paying your bills on time, saving money, having a
will, having life insurance, building your credit, and investing in stocks and bonds. Then when I
started looking into it I realized he was correct.
I then fell in love with the thought of finance and helping others in my community with finances and financial education. I also prayed and asked the Lord if this is His will for me, and he showed multiple signs that it is.
I'm not only going into a field that I know I would love but something that I know I'll be amazing at an help educate people about finances. I love math, helping others and most importantly I love God, who is the joy of my life. "I can do all things through Christ which strengthens me," Philippians 4:13 KJV.
I am looking forward to attending college and will be the first male in my family to go to college
and I plan to graduate from college. I am willing to do my best to succeed. I will utilize 100
percent of my time and effort at all times to complete all schoolwork, assignments, and projects.
I promise you I'm one of the most hard-working, respectful, ambitious, unique, and most
dedicated young man you'll ever meet.

For myself, I grew up in a working-class family where we lived paycheck to paycheck
with very little resources to save. This is why I'm so enthusiastic about learning finances and
Finance will be my major in college.
I also
prayed and asked the Lord if this is His will for me, and he showed multiple signs that it is. I'm

First-Gen Futures Scholarship
My name is Sean Bailey II, I'm a 16-year-old who is a senior at Roman Catholic High School. I grew up in North Philadelphia, which is a low-income community. Growing up in my community I noticed that the majority of the people do not know how to properly invest, save money, build their credit, have life insurance, or wisely spend their money. The vast majority of people in my community are not educated in the financial field nor have anyone to educate them in the field of finances.
For myself, I grew up in a working-class family where we lived paycheck to paycheck
with very little resources to save. This is why I'm so enthusiastic about learning finances and Finance will be my major in college.
My grandfather, who is my mentor, was the main person to point out the importance of finances to me. He told me about the importance of paying your bills on time, saving money, having a will, having life insurance, building your credit, and investing in stocks and bonds. Then when I started looking into it I realized he was correct. "I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me," Philippians 4:13 KJV.

He told me about the importance of paying your bills on time, saving money, having a will, having life insurance, building your credit, and investing in stocks and bonds. Then when I started looking into it I realized he was correct. "I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me," Philippians 4:13 KJV.
I am looking forward to attending college and will be the first male in my family to go to college and I plan to graduate from college. I am willing to do my best to succeed. I will utilize 110 percent of my time and effort at all times to complete all schoolwork, assignments, and projects. I promise you I'm one of the most hard-working, respectful, ambitious, unique, and most dedicated young man you'll ever
meet.

Janean D. Watkins Overcoming Adversity Scholarship
