Bio

My life goals are pretty big . I am attending New Mexico State University for my undergraduate degree in Animal Science and Veterinary Medicine. I then hope to attend one of the four Vet Schools which are Texas A&M, Texas Tech , Colorado State University or University of Wyoming. I have a passion for Large Animals and see that there is a need for more large animal veterinarians in the community. Being able to serve my community is something that i hold dear to my heart. As I pursue my degree in veterinary medicine being a small animal veterinarian is important for a large animal veterinarian because there are many house calls that are made. Being able to help in all aspect is important for serving the community. I have had an amazing opportunity to serve my community as a Rodeo Ambassador. I have been able to educate the community about the importance of rodeo and how these animals are treated like a family member. Being able to educate the community has led me to continue my journey to hold many different titles as a rodeo queen. I hope to continue pursue my Rodeo Queening Career and hopefully one day compete in Miss Rodeo America. I am very passionate about my rodeo queening and horse showing career. I want to hold many titles and make my way to Miss Rodeo America. I also want to continue showing horses and making a small career out of that. I feel I am a great candidate for this Scholarship because I’m a leader in many ways thru school, 4-h, and rodeo queening. I have done many community service work and plan to continue making a difference in this community.

Hello my name is Savannah McSween. I am currently pursing my dream of becoming a Veterinarian for large animals and would also like to have a back ground in small animals to be able to serve any client or patient that needs care to stay healthily or become well. To pursue this degree i will start my journey by attending New Mexico State University starting this year in Fall of 2023z I am hoping to be accepted for your generous scholarship and appreciate your commitment to furthering education. During my educational career I have had the pleasure of being a member of the National Junior Honor Society and National Honor Society. I have lettered in Archery where I have also received a bar and star, National Honor Society letter, Operation Smile letter and bar and an Academic certificate, letter, car and star. In addition I have held the titles of Junior Class Secretary, Senior Class Secretary and Operation Smile Vice President. During my Middle School career I was an active member of student council and the National Junior Honor Society. I have also held titles with my 4-H club and community as the Horse Council Historian, Secretary, Vice President and President. I am currently the Rodeo De Santa Fe Princess and have held titles of Sweetheart and Princess at a county level. I have participated in serving my community by planting trees, food and toy drives, hosting donation drives for underprivileged families and volunteered at the local homeless shelter. During my time I have had the pleasure of working with handicap kids at several rodeo and horse events and teach them about our great western heritage. I have also been able to travel not only our beautiful state but others as well promoting the western way of life. I have cared for and taken care of over 20 horses ranging from dietary needs and maintain overall health for several years. I have interned at the Corrales Vet where I have observed surgical procedures and basic animal care. I personally have experience caring for my own horse who suffers from a foot condition that requires a strict diet and care routine. If I am to be granted this scholarship I can assure you that it will be put to the best of uses to pursue my education for Veterinary Sciences where I can continue to care for and treat animals. I will also strive to keep promoting this life style we hold so dear and pass on my knowledge to the future generations.

My name is Savannah McSween, I am currently a senior at Cibola High school and I plan on graduating May 16th 2023. Im am very involved within not only school but other activities and clubs outside of school. I have done many community service projects for my community and made an impact on many things. Throughout high school I have participated in many clubs and activities such as Senate, National Honor Society, Operation Smile, National art honor society, and Archery. I have been in the Cibola senate for 4 years and within Senate I have held many leadership positions such as Junior class secretary, and Senior class secretary. I have completed many community service within Senate such as participating in Dude be nice week, where we have a week of being nice to others. I have also completed other community service projects such as cleaning out our schools community closet, helping with open house, making posters for school events, help set up and tear down for school dances such as homecoming and winter ball, help decorate and clean up assemblies, help with award ceremonies, helped at other schools with events, and many other activities. In National Honor Society and Operation Smile I have done many community service such as planting trees, raising money for kids, donating in food drives, filling bags for children in the hospital, and many more ideas. I have been on the archery team for 3 years. I have been in archery since I was in 3rd grade and it has always been a love of mine. My first year of archery in high school we took 2nd in the state championships, 1st the 2nd year in the state championships and this last year we placed 3rd out of the state. I plan on continuing archery and competing more. Outside of school I have two very important things in my life that I am a part of. The first one is 4-h. Within 4-h I show livestock which includes Market lambs, Dairy goats, Dairy heifers, Rabbits, Chickens and Horses. I have held many leadership titles in Horse council, County council and my club. Some of the positions I have held were President, Vice President, Secretary, Song and rec leader, and historian. I have done a lot of community service events for example helping with a community clean up, hosting dances, and making bags for the homeless shelters. Rodeo queening is very important to me. I have held three titles. The titles I have held are 2018 Sandoval County Sweetheart, 2020 Sandoval County Princess, and I am currently 2023 Rodeo de Santa fe princess. This year as a title holder we have placed wreaths on veterans graves, helped carry flags in rodeos, helped with the mutton bustin in rodeos and many more. I hope to continue my career in rodeo queening and hopefully one day make it to Miss Rodeo America. All these things are very important to me and I hope to help inspire others in ways and be the best leader I can be.
