Bio

I am passionate about my writing. Journaling gives me a voice even when I don't feel like speaking. I want it to become an outlet for other people too. I want to major in journalism because of the rush I feel when I write a good piece and in psychology to study how the brain works and interprets things.

I love writing because I feel like it is a way to cope. I truly become absorbed in the paper and decide to pour myself onto a page. My writing is my truth. No one else in the world could write like me. A person's writing style is like their fingerprints unique and cannot be duplicated. No matter how hard someone may try to mimic your style of writing it might be similar but it will never be the same. I love writing because I feel like words on a page will speak for me when my mouth truly can't. Writing is the blueprint of communication. When you get choked up trying to express yourself if you write it down it is like calm waves after a storm. You can finally gather your thoughts. I always say I have a passion for writing because I love that I can write my thoughts on a piece of paper and come back with a sound mind and clear thoughts it is a moment of reflection. The beauty of writing is that what is set in stone is forever. Your words written down hold more weight than the words spoken out of your mouth. I want to further my education in writing because I want to be able to touch the minds and hearts of people around the world. When I read a good book I feel a rush and goosebumps come over me. I want to write books that do the same for people. I want to feel like every time a piece of my writing goes out to the world it sticks with every person it reaches. I want to make masterpieces that shake up a room when it is discussed; disturbing and soothing at the same time. Something so real it should be shunned but can only be accepted. I love writing because it is not supposed to be simple. Writing can be so contradicting that it's beautiful. Furthering my education would help me in my goals of strengthening my writing because I will be able to study different ways of writing and find my signature style. I am still on the search to find my particular kind of writing style. I want to learn the depth of writing and what kind of meaningful work comes into play when you take up this kind of career. I know the career field I would love to pursue is journalism and learning about writing would help me master that.

It was 3rd-grade summer and I was going to be in 4th grade finally the senior of my elementary school. Mom's car broke down and because of this, she lost her job. we were living off of Section 8 and some food stamps which we were barely approved for. Walking from the grocery store it was maybe 95 degrees out but to a child, it feels like 110. I saw these classmates of mine playing out in their front yards. I dropped my head. All I could remember was what they would brag about. Their parents bought them that and this one got the newest iPhone or "my dad's car is better than yours". I felt ashamed my mom didn't even have a car and my dad was never anywhere to be found. I was about 9 years old when I started to learn that my life was going to be harder than others. I am the youngest of 7 and I would always wonder why my mother had to work twice as hard as other kid's parents. The simple fact was that she was raising us by herself. My mother was always hard-working she would never cry in front of us and she always made sure that we all felt loved in our hectic household. She worked doubles and sometimes even two jobs because of that my older sibling would often have to watch me. As a young child, I was attached to my mother so when it was time for me to go to school and her to work I was going through trial and error a lot of days where I whined and cried for my mother. There were days when she couldn't make it to the parent's day or back to school night sometimes even school concerts because my mother had to work and she had bills to pay. I used to not understand I used to think that she didn't care and that if she did she would be there to support me. I used to resent my mother and for so long I was upset that I couldn't have everything that I wanted I was upset that she chose my father somebody who was absent more than he showed up. It was 9th grade when I stopped wishing my dad would support me and I stopped blaming my mother for what we couldn't have but thanking her for what she was about to pull out of nowhere. my mother a Black woman and single mother did everything and all she could to get me through high school by herself. She pushed and pushed for me to have everything I needed and could ask for. Having a single mother means making something out of nothing. Growing up with a single mother showed me that there is always a way.
