My educational journey has been shaped by both determination and the challenges of coming from a very financially tight background. Growing up, I saw firsthand the barriers that financial hardship can create, particularly the hesitation that it creates to access expensive healthcare. This experience set me towards my dream of becoming a doctor who provides care to those who cannot afford expensive treatments. I am driven by a deep understanding for individuals who face the difficult choice between health and financial stability. Through my academic path, I experienced a significant amount of personal loss during my sophomore year of highschool when my uncle, aunt, and their baby tragically passed away in a car accident. The inability to go see them in India for the last time due to financial reasons and immigration laws made me realize just how tolling it can be on a person. The grief was overwhelming, and for a while, it felt like I was going to be consumed by it. There were moments when I doubted my ability to continue, but the memory of their lives became a source of my inspiration. Their memories stayed and planted in me the strength to honor their legacy through my medical journey. In my journey, I've held onto values like resilience, empathy, and perseverance. These qualities have helped me face obstacles and keep going despite setbacks. I've learned that asking for help isn't a sign of weakness; it shows courage and self-awareness. Getting support from mentors, peers, or counselors has been essential in navigating tough times and academic challenges, the first step I had taken towards help without feeling vulnerable. My curiosity, strength and passion lies in research, especially in medicine. I love exploring new ideas that could make healthcare more accessible and affordable for everyone. Research allows me to dive into important problems and come up with creative ways to help underserved communities. My goal is to contribute to making healthcare fairer and more inclusive for all by creating a community with those who are like minded. Asking for help and getting it has changed me in big ways, it has shown me that it is okay to ask for help. It's shown me the value of being humble and relying on my community. Whether I needed advice for school or someone to talk to during tough times, this helped me realize just how willing to help others are. I've seen how people are often ready to help when you're honest and open. This has made me believe even more in how important it is to connect with others and support each other through hard times. Looking forward, I am committed to continuing my journey of becoming a doctor who serves with compassion and integrity. I would like to create meaningful change by addressing healthcare faults and advocating for accessible healthcare options for all, regardless of their financial circumstances. My dream is not just to practice medicine but to contribute actively to a healthcare system that keeps compassion as its core, ensuring that everyone receives the care they deserve.
