I am a senior at the University of Wyoming pursuing a Business Degree. I am majoring in marketing, management, and professional sales with a minor in leadership. I am a transfer student with an associate's degree in Business Administration from Central Wyoming College. My goal after graduation next spring is to continue my education at the graduate level to attain my Master's in Business Administration.
While here at the College of Business, I work as an advising assistant at our Student Success Center. I also work doing marketing, social media, and event planning for a local business. On campus, I am an officer for our ethics club and a member of our sales club. I enjoy participating in all my extracurriculars and work to build relationships, learn from those around me, and gain knowledge through my own experiences.
Some of my interests outside of school include sports and exercise, the outdoors, reading, and spending time with family and friends. I hope to be able to incorporate these interests into my future career. My goal is to find a position that I enjoy, is fulfilling, and can sustain me and my future family. I am doing my best to make all of my aspirations a reality, and am grateful to all of those who have helped along the way.

My local FBLA chapter was where I found my passion for marketing. I competed at the state level in the marketing category and qualified for nationals. That trip was the most inspiring, eye-opening, and fun event I had ever participated in. I met many people, learned about the business world, and participated in activities that allowed me to explore my interests. This life experience spurred me to pursue a career/education in marketing.
When covid hit, I attended a junior college in my home area, where I received my Associate's Degree in Business Administration. I transferred to the University of Wyoming in 2022, and am now an upcoming senior. I have loved learning about marketing research, consumer psychology/behavior, and communication. This field is exciting because it is challenging and allows me to be creative in my content creation and problem-solving. The business world is ever-evolving. Growing and expanding my knowledge in my personal and professional life is important to me.
This past year, I had the opportunity to use my electives to explore other interests. I took a sales class last semester that tied so well into marketing that I decided to add sales as a major. I believe sales gives you invaluable interpersonal skills that help you in whatever field you pursue. These abilities allow you to be competent in dealing with people, communicating, and thoroughly understanding how to better your business through the needs of consumers. These are aspects that I want to practice and incorporate in my doings, which is why I decided to invest my time in these sales classes along with my marketing ones.
Other aspects I decided to explore were management and leadership. I took an Organizational Behavior and Leadership class, which was all about understanding how people function (and why) in the workplace. What piqued my interest in this class was my professor. He is my favorite teacher I've had throughout my college education. He is one of those people that knows how to inspire others because he is so passionate about what he does. He wants his students to excel, so his class was engaging, insightful, and fun. I learned a lot from him, especially life lessons that weren't always in the textbook. I decided to pursue management as a major and leadership as a minor because of him, as he teaches most all the classes required for those programs. I want to be like him. I want to glean all I can from him so I will be a leader in my fields and better understand and relate to those around me. Throughout this class, I decided to continue my education after graduation and attain my MBA. I want to have the opportunity one day to teach students at the college level about my knowledge in the business field and teach as he does. I know that he has made a difference in many of his students' lives, including mine, which I greatly admire.
I am grateful I have been able to take advantage of my education to participate in several majors and a minor. I hope my effort will be worth it so I can achieve my dreams and support myself and my future family. I'd love to work in the sports industry, as I have always loved to play and watch sports with my friends and family. My education will help me in many aspects of my life and is something I will always have with me, which is why I prioritize it the best I can.
Thank you for your time, consideration, and generosity!

I am an upcoming senior at the University of Wyoming pursuing a Business Degree. I am a transfer student from the junior college I attended after I graduated from Lander Valley High School in 2020. My majors are marketing, management, and professional sales with a minor in leadership. I will graduate in the Spring of 2024 with hopes of continuing my education within the Business Administration Masters graduate degree program. I have already attained my associate's degree in Business Administration from Central Wyoming College in 2022.
The challenges I have faced financially can mainly be attributed to covid and the help available to me from my family. I come from a very large, extended family of 16 children. I knew that my parents would be unable to help me pursue higher education, so I've put myself through college. I maintained a 4.0 throughout high school and college (still relevant to this day) to make sure I could be eligible for scholarships and prove to myself that I could achieve my educational goals. I worked for nearly two years within the Fremont County School District at an after-school program for elementary children that is free for parents in the community. I worked there while attending CWC and living at home. I transferred to UW in the Fall of 2022, where I now work for the College of Business as an advising assistant in the Green Johnson Student Success Center. My second job is doing digital marketing and event planning for a local business here in Laramie. I work hard to provide financially for myself, as it is the only avenue I have to receive the income necessary for me to complete the degree programs that will help set me up for my future.
In addition to my jobs, I am involved in the Ethics Club and Sales Club on campus. Ethics Club is a fantastic group of individuals that meet every other week to discuss ethical dilemmas in our world today and learn about how to handle issues ethically. We have leadership panels, case competitions, and guest speakers. Our spring semester is focused on an event called SparkTank, where we raise money to give to local nonprofits. This year, we raised and donated $160,000 to give to 4 local nonprofits that make a difference in our community. The Sales Club, and the sales classes, are heavily involved in meeting with donors and collecting said donations. This gives us real-world experience in communicating with businesses and potential employers while acting for a great cause. It is a year-long, rigorous process. Yet, seeing the effect we have on people and the businesses we support is truly amazing, and this is an annual event of 5 years that we hope to grow in the coming future.
I came to UW with marketing in mind and will continue to pursue that. However, many doors have opened up to me since arriving here. I want to take advantage of every opportunity available so that I may be best set up in life after college. While I want to pursue my interests in business, I have enjoyed my time here so much that I want to stay and receive my Masters's degree and potentially put it to use by teaching at the higher education level at some point.
Thank you so much for taking the time to review my application and for your generosity and consideration!
