Bio

My goal in life is to affect as many people in a positive way as possible. In the future, I hope to be a Pediatric Medical Oncologist. After my grandmother was diagnosed with cancer, I realized the importance of choosing a profession not only for yourself but also based on how you want to affect the people around you. I strive to be a part of the process that gives people second chances to live their lives to the fullest. I want to help provide hope when they have lost it and inspire them when they feel like giving up. I work hard to do this as I know that not everybody can. I continue to remind myself of my passion to inspire people to live healthier lives in order to increase their quality of life. I continue to work hard to maintain my 4.0 GPA and AP/Honors classes and continue my life goal by completing projects like Walk4Water and performing community service.

When I was 12 years old, my Mother told me that my Grandmother, my heart and soul, was diagnosed with breast cancer. I was distraught, along with the rest of the family, and as much as I wanted to have control, I had none. Every time we tried to sing, dance, or cook with my Grandmother, we ended up in tears, scared of what was to come. Finally, just as I was about to turn fourteen, my Grandmother showed us her certificate for completing Chemotherapy. Additionally, I began searching for my purpose in life as I entered high school. I did not want to go through life working just for money; I wanted to affect the world positively. After my Grandmother went through her life-changing experience and seeing her lose hope as her journey continued, I realized that I never wanted anyone to go through that again. If they did have to go through it, I wanted to be the one to help them through it, not only for the patient but for the families as well. I realized that my goal in life was to affect as many people as possible positively. I found that Pediatric Medical Oncology was my way of completing my goal, and my purpose in life. I want to provide hope to both the patient and the families and remind people of the meaning of life and not to give up. I also want to be a part of the process that gives these kids another chance to continue life and live it to the fullest. I feel that life is a gift, and every trial and tribulation, no matter how big or small, shapes who we become and how we live. I want to inspire people to openly welcome any trial that comes their way and help them conquer them and become stronger. While I see that I may be unable to impact the entire world, I hope that by touching one life at a time, I may inspire others to spread the message of what life truly is. I have been told that the path I am about to embark on is challenging, sorrowful, and disheartening, but I choose not to think pessimistically, I only think about the lives I will help save and inspire. Every time I am exposed to a challenge, even during times I want to give up, I think of my goal and the people I want to help. I am aware of the difficulty of the path I have chosen and am ready to overcome the challenges to become a doctor and continue fulfilling my goal in life.
