As a 39-year-old first-time mother, I am determined to build a stable future for my family. My husband and I spent several years struggling with homelessness, doing everything we could to get back on our feet. With the birth of our daughter, things began to improve. San Bernardino County provided invaluable support by helping us secure housing and assisting my husband with job opportunities. However, despite these strides, we are still living paycheck to paycheck, barely making ends meet. My goal is to further stabilize our lives by pursuing a career in medical billing through the online program at American Career College. This field offers the potential for steady income, enabling me to support my family and ensure a better future for my daughter. I have already started the program and successfully completed one course. Now, I am focusing on the remaining five courses before starting my unpaid externship. This journey represents a pivotal step toward financial independence and long-term stability. Being from a low-income household, the financial strain of tuition and associated fees weighs heavily on me. I constantly worry about how I will manage school expenses and keep my student loan payments affordable while also covering basic living costs. To ease this burden, I have been diligently applying for scholarships, though I have not yet found success. Despite these challenges, I remain determined to continue my education and complete the program. This opportunity means so much more than a career change—it represents a lifeline for my family. It is a chance to escape the cycle of struggle and create a secure and sustainable future. With the support of scholarships and resources, I can complete my education, build a meaningful career, and provide my daughter with the stability and opportunities she deserves. I am hopeful that by investing in my education and seeking assistance through scholarships, I can achieve this goal and inspire my family to overcome any obstacle. This program is not just about me; it is about shaping a brighter future for all of us.
