FinalistBio
Hello! I am an aspiring graphic designer and photographer. I enjoy serving in my community and for my church, primarily when I am able to use my skillset to make a difference.
I originally started out in the medical field and had a strong passion for helping others. I was working on a nursing degree when COVID hit and lost my joy and passion for helping others through medicine. I saw how my patients were being treated, and how they were expected to pay way too much for the little care they received. I got into the medical field to help and heal people, not take as much money from them as I can. So I had to make a change not only for myself, but for the individuals that I was helping; and I would start helping them in a new way.
Leaving that field and entering into an unknown one, has probably been the scariest thing I have done; but I know that this is the next chapter of my life and where God has placed me. So far in this current chapter I have started volunteering in church and in my community, I have made art that has brought smiles to others around me and even captured precious memories through my photography.
I am along for the ride wherever God chooses to take me, so I hope you can join me and support me on my ride too! I would love to share my accomplishments with you!

Arthur and Elana Panos Scholarship
My personal faith has been a guiding force in my life, providing me with strength, purpose, and a framework for understanding the world around me. Growing up in a faith-based community, I was instilled with values such as compassion, service, and integrity. These principles have shaped my character and influenced my decisions, especially during challenging times.
One of the most significant ways my faith has helped me is through times of uncertainty. Whether faced with academic pressures, personal struggles, or the responsibilities of being the oldest sibling in my family, I often turned to prayer and reflection. This practice allowed me to find peace amid chaos and gain clarity on my path. I learned to trust in God’s plan, which has encouraged me to approach obstacles with resilience and optimism.
In addition to providing comfort, my faith has inspired me to serve others. Acts of kindness and service are core tenets of my beliefs. Volunteering at my church and community centers has not only deepened my connection to my faith but has also shown me the tangible impact of helping others. Whether tutoring children, organizing events, or supporting local nonprofits, these experiences have taught me the value of community and the importance of uplifting those around me.
As I pursue a career in public service, I believe my faith will continue to play a crucial role. Public service inherently involves serving others, advocating for justice, and working toward the common good—values that resonate deeply with my beliefs. My faith compels me to approach my work with empathy and a desire to make a meaningful difference in the lives of others. It motivates me to seek solutions to societal challenges, ensuring that my efforts reflect compassion and understanding.
Moreover, my faith encourages me to uphold integrity and ethical standards in my professional endeavors. In a world that can sometimes prioritize personal gain over the common good, my beliefs remind me of the importance of honesty, accountability, and fairness. I strive to be a leader who listens, values diverse perspectives, and fosters collaboration—all principles that are integral to both my faith and effective public service.
In summary, my personal faith has profoundly shaped my life, offering guidance during challenging moments and inspiring me to serve others. As I embark on a career in public service, I am confident that my beliefs will continue to influence my actions and decisions. By grounding my work in compassion, integrity, and a commitment to the greater good, I hope to honor my faith while making a positive impact in my community and beyond.
Cheryl Twilley Outreach Memorial Scholarship
My name is Sarah Collins, and I am a graphic design student at Grand Canyon University, balancing my studies with a full-time job at The City of Denison. Growing up, I witnessed firsthand the impact of socioeconomic adversity on my community and family. This experience has profoundly shaped my beliefs, relationships, and future aspirations, fueling my commitment to making a positive impact.
Growing up as the oldest of four siblings, I felt a strong sense of responsibility to set a good example and support my family through challenges. We faced financial struggles that often limited our access to resources, opportunities, and experiences that many take for granted. This reality instilled in me a deep empathy for those facing similar hardships and a determination to create change. I realized that socioeconomic adversity affects not just individuals but entire communities, limiting potential and growth.
These experiences have influenced my beliefs about the importance of community support and collaboration. I firmly believe that everyone deserves access to opportunities, regardless of their economic background. This belief drives my desire to contribute positively to my community, particularly in ways that address socioeconomic disparities.
One of my primary goals is to leverage my skills in graphic design to support local nonprofits and community organizations that focus on education and empowerment. I plan to offer my design services pro bono to help these organizations enhance their visibility and reach. Effective marketing and communication can significantly impact a nonprofit’s ability to engage with the community and attract support. By creating compelling visual narratives that showcase their missions and stories, I hope to amplify their voices and extend their reach.
Additionally, I want to create workshops that teach design skills to underserved youth in my community. By sharing my knowledge and experiences, I hope to empower young people to express themselves creatively and explore potential career paths in the arts. Providing them with tools and skills can open doors and inspire them to pursue their dreams, regardless of their economic circumstances. I believe that fostering creativity and critical thinking is essential in helping individuals rise above adversity.
My experiences with socioeconomic adversity have also shaped my relationships. I have developed a strong network of peers and mentors who share similar values and goals. This support system has reinforced my belief in the power of collaboration and community. I plan to engage with these individuals and organizations to create initiatives that promote social equity, focusing on education, access to resources, and skill-building.
Looking to the future, I envision myself not only as a graphic designer but also as an advocate for change. I aim to work with organizations that address socioeconomic issues, contributing my skills to campaigns that raise awareness and inspire action. I want to be part of a movement that empowers individuals and communities to overcome obstacles and achieve their potential.
In conclusion, my experiences with socioeconomic adversity have profoundly influenced my beliefs, relationships, and future plans. I am committed to using my skills in graphic design to support my community and help address disparities. By offering my services to nonprofits, creating workshops for youth, and advocating for change, I hope to make a positive impact on those around me. Together, we can build a more equitable future for all.

My name is Sarah Collins, and I am a dedicated graphic design student at Grand Canyon University, currently balancing my studies with a full-time job at The City of Denison. Growing up as the oldest of four siblings, I’ve always felt a strong sense of responsibility to set a positive example for my brothers. This role has instilled in me a deep commitment to hard work and perseverance, values that I carry into every aspect of my life.

This passion has only grown as I’ve honed my skills through coursework and freelance opportunities. I believe that design is a powerful tool for communication, capable of telling stories, sparking conversations, and driving social change. With this belief at the forefront of my aspirations, I am determined to use my skills to make a positive impact on the world.
One of my primary goals is to create visually compelling narratives that raise awareness about important social issues. I envision myself working with nonprofit organizations and community groups, using my design expertise to help them convey their messages effectively. Whether it's developing marketing materials for a local charity or creating campaigns that promote environmental sustainability, I want my work to resonate with audiences and inspire them to take action. My vision is to create designs that not only look good but also reflect the values and mission of each client. Moreover, I aspire to integrate my love for photography into my career. Capturing moments through the lens adds another layer to my creative expression, allowing me to tell stories visually in a different way. I hope to document community events, local culture, and social issues through photography, highlighting the narratives that often go unseen. This dual focus on graphic design and photography will enable me to create comprehensive visual campaigns that speak to a wider audience.
Ultimately, my goal is to leave a lasting, positive mark on my community and beyond. I envision a future where my artwork contributes to social change, fosters dialogue, and brings people together. Redefining Victory Scholarship
Success, for me, is a multifaceted concept that encompasses personal growth, academic achievement, and the ability to positively impact my community. It’s not solely defined by external markers such as wealth or status but rather by the fulfillment of my potential and the meaningful connections I build along the way.
Academically, success looks like achieving my degree in graphic design. This goal is vital not only for my career aspirations but also for personal satisfaction. I envision myself mastering the skills necessary to create impactful visual narratives that resonate with audiences. This degree will provide me with the knowledge and technical abilities to explore various avenues in design, from freelancing to working for nonprofit organizations that address social issues. While there are challenges in navigating the complexities of graphic design, the opportunity to hone my craft and make a difference is a driving force behind my educational pursuits.
Moreover, success means cultivating strong relationships with my peers and mentors. I believe that collaboration and support are essential in any field. The graphic design community is vibrant and diverse, and I aspire to learn from others while contributing my unique perspective. Building a network of like-minded individuals who share my passion will not only enhance my learning experience but also create opportunities for collaboration and innovation. However, it can be daunting to reach out and form these connections, especially when anxiety creeps in. It’s crucial for me to confront these challenges and embrace the potential for growth they present.
In addition to academic and professional goals, success is about giving back to my community. I want to use my skills to raise awareness about important social issues, particularly in light of the current global challenges we face, like the war in Ukraine. By creating compelling visual stories, I hope to inspire action and empathy among those who see my work. Engaging with community projects and volunteering my design services can be a powerful way to contribute to meaningful change. However, this requires balancing my time effectively, as I juggle work, school, and personal commitments.
This scholarship opportunity represents a significant step toward achieving my vision of success. Financial support would alleviate some of the burdens associated with my education, allowing me to focus more on my studies and less on financial stress. It would enable me to engage in extracurricular activities, workshops, and internships that enhance my learning and provide real-world experience in the graphic design field.
On the flip side, while financial aid can ease some pressures, it’s important to acknowledge that achieving success also requires self-discipline and hard work. Scholarships can provide the means, but they don’t guarantee results. It’s essential to remain committed to my goals and utilize the resources available to me effectively. This means actively seeking out mentorship opportunities, engaging with my professors, and participating in collaborative projects that challenge me to grow.
Ultimately, success is a journey rather than a destination. It involves continuous learning, adaptation, and resilience in the face of obstacles. This scholarship would serve as both a validation of my efforts and a catalyst for future achievements. It would empower me to not only pursue my degree with greater focus but also to extend my reach into the community, using my talents to uplift others.
In conclusion, success for me encompasses academic accomplishments, personal growth, and community engagement. It’s about finding fulfillment in my passions and making a difference in the lives of others. This opportunity would provide the support I need to navigate my educational journey while enabling me to contribute meaningfully to the world around me. With determination and the right resources, I am confident I can turn my vision of success into reality.
Social Anxiety Step Forward Scholarship
My experience with anxiety has profoundly shaped my life, particularly since I’ve struggled with social anxiety since middle school. Throughout my educational journey, I’ve often felt like an outsider, struggling to fit in with various groups at school, church, or art clubs. This feeling of not belonging has made it challenging for me to form friendships, maintain connections, and reach out to new people. The anxiety can be paralyzing; I often find myself overthinking social interactions and worrying about how I come across, which makes engaging with others feel overwhelming.
This anxiety also extends to academic situations. I frequently experience anxiety about reaching out to my professors for help with assignments, fearing that my questions might seem trivial or that I will come across as unintelligent. This fear can hinder my learning and prevent me from seeking the assistance I need, which only compounds my feelings of inadequacy. It’s not just about social situations; I grapple with anxiety regarding many aspects of my life, including my future, my studies, and even daily responsibilities.
Recognizing the impact of anxiety on my life, I’ve taken steps to address it, such as speaking with a therapist. This has been a crucial part of my journey, as it has helped me develop coping strategies and gain a better understanding of my feelings. I’m also considering anxiety medication, as I believe it might provide additional support in managing my symptoms.
Pursuing a college degree is incredibly important to me for several reasons. First and foremost, it represents a significant step toward achieving my long-term career goals, particularly in graphic design. Despite my anxiety, I have a strong passion for this field, and earning a degree would provide me with the skills and credentials I need to succeed professionally.
Moreover, obtaining a degree signifies personal growth and resilience. It demonstrates my ability to confront my fears and challenges head-on, transforming anxiety into motivation. College offers opportunities for new experiences, and I hope to find a supportive community where I can connect with others who share my interests.
In essence, pursuing a college degree is not just about academic achievement; it’s about proving to myself that I can overcome the barriers that anxiety has placed in my path. It’s a chance to break free from feelings of isolation and build a future that aligns with my passions and aspirations. By continuing my education, I aim to foster not only my professional development but also my personal growth, ultimately empowering myself to manage my anxiety and thrive in all areas of my life.

Diane Amendt Memorial Scholarship for the Arts
Growing up, arts education played a pivotal role in shaping my identity and nurturing my creativity. My journey began at the age of seven with Mr. D, my first art teacher. He ignited my passion for art by introducing me to various painting techniques and encouraging me to explore my creativity. His enthusiasm and genuine support created a safe space for self-expression, making a lasting impact on my artistic development. Mr. D continued to be a guiding influence throughout my formative years, pushing me to experiment and refine my skills. His passing in 2015 was a profound loss, but his teachings remain a source of inspiration that motivates me to pursue my craft with dedication.
Now, as I balance full-time work with The City of Denison and my studies at Grand Canyon University, I often reflect on Mr. D’s encouragement. The pressures of being the oldest sibling to three younger brothers weigh heavily on me, as I strive to set a strong example for them. I want to demonstrate that following your passions is possible, even amidst challenges. This responsibility fuels my drive to succeed, as I fear letting my brothers and parents down.
While I am still exploring the specific direction I want to take with my graphic design degree, I have found joy in freelancing and working on projects for The City of Denison. Each opportunity allows me to apply what I’ve learned and continue growing as an artist. I also volunteer as the audio and visual team lead at my church, where I further develop my skills in a collaborative environment. These experiences have enriched my understanding of art and design, helping me to realize the various ways I can contribute to my community.
Mr. D's teachings continue to inspire me to embrace experimentation and seek growth, even when I feel uncertain about my future. I carry his legacy with me in my artistic endeavors, reminding myself that creativity knows no bounds. The skills I’ve developed through arts education have equipped me with the resilience to face challenges, whether in the classroom, at work, or in my volunteer efforts.
In summary, arts education has profoundly impacted my life, providing a foundation of creativity, self-expression, and perseverance. The influence of Mr. D and my commitment to my craft drive me to push forward despite uncertainties. As I navigate my path, I am determined to honor his legacy and serve as a role model for my brothers, showing them the importance of pursuing one's passions and making a positive impact through art.

As the oldest sibling in my family, I have three younger brothers, which adds another layer of responsibility to my life. I strive to be a positive example for them, and I often feel the weight of their expectations, as well as those of my parents. I want to ensure that I pave a path that they can look up to, but this pressure can sometimes be overwhelming.
As I navigate through my educational journey, I’ve realized that I haven’t yet fully determined the specific direction I want to take with my graphic design degree. While I have enjoyed freelancing and working on projects for The City of Denison, I’m still exploring the vast possibilities within the field. Jackanow Suicide Awareness Scholarship
The year 2023 was not for the faint of heart, and not for those who could not handle loss. I was the one that had no other choice but to handle the loss of 6 family members and 2 friends. Skylar was a loss that I did not expect for a long time, and was so fast from when I last spoke with her that I could not comprehend that this was the reality now. She was gone. The ones that were expected I never thought would come, and hit hard; but the ones I was not expecting hit even harder. As a youth counselor at my church I see so many young ladies through their years of middle school and high school, even watching some graduate from college; you never expect to get a phone call from their parents that she relapsed and died from an overdose. What was I supposed to say in that moment to the parents who just lost their daughter and while grieving the loss of the young lady that I watched grow up. All I could do is sit silently on the phone frozen from the shock of the news I just received. This young lady had a heart for God and would serve in our church in every way she could, we even went on mission trips together; how did she go from being on fire for God to stripping her life away from everyone who loved her. To say that she impacted my life is an understatement, she and her family became part of my life; they saw me through heartbreak and pursuing new adventures to help me grow as a young adult. I was ready to see what she was going to do with her life, she was so close to completing college and was pursuing Christian vocation to serve as a youth counselor in churches. We knew she struggled before, and had to go through getting into trouble in order to learn from her lesson; but none of us knew that she was considering it again. Her loss was probably one of the ones that hit the hardest, and I needed help understanding why and how I failed as her youth counselor. I tried medicine for depression and anxiety, but it did nothing to alleviate the pain I was feeling. I thought going to therapy would help me talk about it and walk through what I was dealing with, and some days it does; then some days it doesn't and I find myself still frozen in shock unable to believe that it is real. It has not been long since her loss, it has only been since September; and her loss on top of other losses I have experienced has made my healing become impossible. My depression is real and my emotions unable to be controlled. I do not know what it will feel like to overcome her loss and the other losses I have experienced, but I do know that getting up everyday and continuing to push for my own sake helps drown out the sadness. The biggest thing I can take away from this unexpected loss is that you cannot believe people who have struggled with substance in the past when they tell you their fine if you know they have been under stress lately. Keep showing up and checking in on them, because they are not fine they need you and need the reminder that they have made it before without substances and they can do it again. I miss you Skylar.
Level Up Scholarship
Video games have played a significant role in shaping my life, bringing numerous positive experiences that have enriched my relationships and personal growth. One of the most profound impacts has been on my connection with my brothers. Growing up, we spent countless hours together immersed in various gaming worlds, from cooperative adventures to competitive matches. These shared experiences fostered a unique bond, filled with laughter, teamwork, and friendly rivalries. Whether we were strategizing to defeat a difficult boss or just goofing around in an open-world environment, each gaming session reinforced our brotherly connection and created lasting memories. These moments helped us develop communication skills and problem-solving strategies, essential not only in games but also in our everyday lives.
Beyond the social aspect, video games have provided a valuable outlet for relaxation. After a long day, immersing myself in a game allows me to escape reality and unwind. Whether it’s exploring the serene landscapes of an open-world game or engaging in the fast-paced action of a multiplayer match, gaming offers a much-needed respite from daily stresses. This form of entertainment enables me to recharge mentally and emotionally, promoting a healthier work-life balance. The ability to dive into different narratives and experiences also cultivates a sense of adventure and exploration, giving me a chance to experience things I might not encounter in real life.
Moreover, video games have continually challenged me to think outside the box. Many games require creative problem-solving and critical thinking to overcome obstacles and advance in the storyline. Puzzles, strategic planning, and adapting to unexpected challenges enhance my cognitive skills and encourage me to approach problems from multiple angles. This has translated into real-world benefits, as I find myself more adept at tackling challenges, both personal and professional. The imaginative worlds and intricate narratives often inspire me to innovate and think creatively in my daily endeavors.
In summary, video games have significantly enriched my life by strengthening my relationship with my brothers, providing a much-needed outlet for relaxation, and challenging me to think creatively. Each gaming session is not just about entertainment; it’s an opportunity for bonding, stress relief, and personal development. As I continue to explore new games and experiences, I am grateful for the positive impact they have had on my life and the invaluable skills I’ve gained along the way. Whether I’m laughing with my brothers over a shared victory or finding creative solutions to in-game challenges, the benefits of gaming are clear and meaningful.
Wicked Fan Scholarship
I’m a huge fan of "Wicked" for several reasons, from its compelling storytelling to its unforgettable music and powerful themes. The musical offers a fresh perspective on the beloved characters from "The Wizard of Oz", particularly Elphaba, the Wicked Witch of the West. By exploring her backstory, "Wicked" challenges the conventional notions of good and evil, prompting audiences to reconsider their judgments about characters we thought we understood.
One of the aspects I admire most is how the narrative delves into themes of friendship, identity, and the consequences of societal expectations. Elphaba and Glinda's relationship is beautifully complex, showcasing both the joys and struggles of true friendship. Their bond resonates deeply with me, as it reflects the challenges we all face in navigating our paths while remaining true to ourselves and our loved ones.
The music, composed by Stephen Schwartz, is another reason I’m drawn to "Wicked". Songs like “Defying Gravity” and “For Good” are not only catchy but also emotionally charged, capturing the essence of the characters’ journeys. “Defying Gravity,” in particular, serves as an anthem of empowerment, inspiring me to embrace my individuality and strive for my dreams, no matter the obstacles.
Visually, the production is stunning, with elaborate costumes and innovative staging that create a vibrant world. The choreography and performances bring the story to life, making each viewing a unique experience. The way the story unfolds on stage, paired with the impressive talent of the cast, creates an atmosphere that captivates the audience.
Moreover, "Wicked' encourages self-reflection and compassion. It reminds us that everyone has their own struggles and that we often don’t see the full story behind a person’s actions. This resonates with my personal values and encourages me to approach others with empathy and understanding.
Ultimately, "Wicked" is more than just a musical; it’s a celebration of individuality, friendship, and the courage to stand up for what you believe in. Its messages stay with me long after the curtain falls, making it a lasting favorite. I find myself returning to its themes and music time and again, grateful for the inspiration it brings into my life.
Karl L. Burnell Memorial Scholarship
As a first-generation college student balancing full-time work and school, diabetes has profoundly impacted my daily life. Managing my condition requires constant attention to my diet, blood sugar levels, and overall health, which can be overwhelming alongside my academic and professional responsibilities.
One of the most challenging aspects is the fatigue that often accompanies diabetes. I frequently struggle with low energy, making it difficult to focus on assignments or stay productive throughout the day. This can be particularly tough during long study sessions or when I have deadlines approaching. I find myself needing to take breaks more often to manage my blood sugar, which can interrupt my workflow and affect my time management.
Despite these challenges, I’m determined to succeed academically and professionally. I’ve learned to prioritize self-care, such as meal planning and incorporating physical activity into my routine, to help manage my energy levels. My experiences with diabetes have not only made me more resilient but have also fueled my passion for understanding health issues, especially those affecting underserved communities.
Ultimately, while diabetes presents significant challenges, it has also shaped my determination to advocate for better health resources and support systems, both for myself and for others navigating similar struggles.
Emma Jane Hastie Scholarship
My name is Sarah and I am a first generation college student in my family. I am currently attending Grand Canyon University for a Bachelors degree in Graphic design with a minor in photography and animation. I work full time as the Welcome service representative for the City of Denison and also volunteer at my church (Portrait Church) as the team lead for the audio, visual, and sound team.
In my community, we have a lot of families that do not have high incomes or have a hard time completing projects around their home. Our city puts on an event called "The Big Event," this event was originally started by Texas A&M and has spread to other universities and cities. I helped in facilitating and organizing the event for our community and was able to help more than 20 families and their homes. We did home improvements that ranged from painting their fence and fixing broken doors, to hauling off old furniture and clearing backyards for kids to play in; all of this in one day. Our community came together with around 300 volunteers and provided their own equipment and trucks without expecting anything in return. We helped single moms, older men and women, and those who are disabled. With each home that we stopped at and completed, I saw how much it made an impact on that individual and their family. For them it was a weight taken off their shoulders, and they felt like they could finally breathe and enjoy life. I wished that we were able to take on more projects, but there are only so many hours in a day and so many people that we had available.
Community service is vital because it fosters connections, builds trust, and strengthens the fabric of society. When individuals come together to support one another, they create a sense of belonging and shared purpose. This collective effort not only addresses immediate needs—like helping families in crisis—but also inspires others to get involved.
The impact of community service often creates a chain reaction. When one person volunteers, it can motivate friends, family, or even strangers to join in. This ripple effect expands the reach of goodwill, transforming communities. For example, when our volunteers help to repair a neighbor’s home, it not only improves that family’s living conditions but also encourages others to take action in their own neighborhoods.
Moreover, participating in community service cultivates empathy and awareness of social issues, prompting individuals to advocate for change and contribute their skills in new ways. As more people engage in acts of service, the community as a whole becomes more resilient and interconnected. Ultimately, community service not only addresses immediate challenges but also lays the foundation for a more compassionate and active society, where everyone plays a role in uplifting one another.
Bookshelf to Big Screen Scholarship
My favorite book-to-film adaptation is "The Secret of Moonacre", inspired by Elizabeth Goudge's "The Little White Horse". This adaptation is special to me for several reasons, particularly its enchanting visual representation and the way it bridges the gap between reading and viewing experiences.
The film captures the whimsical essence of the book while bringing the story to life with stunning visuals and a magical atmosphere. The lush landscapes, beautiful costumes, and captivating cinematography immerse viewers in a world that feels both familiar and fantastical. Watching the film evokes the same sense of wonder I experienced while reading the book, making it a delightful experience that deepens my connection to the story.
One of the most remarkable aspects of this adaptation is how it emphasizes themes of love, family, and the importance of heritage, which resonate in both the book and the film. While the film takes some creative liberties, it retains the heart of Goudge's narrative, inviting viewers to explore the character's journey in a new light.
Additionally, "The Secret of Moonacre" has inspired me to revisit the book, leading to a richer understanding of the characters and themes. The film enhances the reading experience by providing visual cues that make certain elements of the story more vivid and memorable.
I always envisioned myself as part of the storyline and wished that I was the moon princess in the story. She got to be part of a fairytale that she didn't realize was real, and it sparked a deep seeded desire to want a fairytale of my own. She was a confident young lady who displayed bravery, confidence, diplomacy, and overall elegance. Her dress at the end of the movie has always been my favorite, how it was covered with pearls and fell beautifully within the landscape. I never really cared for Disney princesses, but I have always wanted to be this princess.
Overall, this adaptation is special to me because it beautifully captures the essence of the original story while inviting a broader audience to experience its magic. It bridges the gap between reading and viewing by creating an engaging narrative that celebrates the power of storytelling, both on the page and on screen. Both the book and the movie adaptations whisk me away into their fantasy world, and I always hate when I have to leave it. If you have not watched this movie or read the book, I strongly encourage both; but maybe watch the movie first so you can understand where I am coming from.

Whether or not he’s the greatest may depend on personal perspective, but there’s no denying that he has left an indelible mark on basketball history.
Billie Eilish Fan Scholarship
Choosing just three Billie Eilish songs is a challenge, but here are my top picks and why they resonate deeply with me:
1. "Bellyache": This song captures the feeling of guilt and the complexity of emotions that can come from making choices. The juxtaposition of a catchy melody with darker themes speaks to my own experiences of feeling remorseful about decisions I’ve made, especially during my teenage years. It highlights the internal conflict of wanting to be carefree while grappling with the weight of one’s actions.
2. "When the Party's Over": This track beautifully explores feelings of isolation and the struggle to express vulnerability. The haunting vocals and minimalistic arrangement create a raw atmosphere that resonates with my own experiences of feeling out of place. It reminds me that it’s okay to feel alone at times, and that acknowledging those feelings can lead to deeper connections with others.
3. "Everything I Wanted": This song delves into themes of self-acceptance and the pressures of expectations. The lyrics reflect the importance of having a support system and the comfort of knowing that someone believes in you, even when you doubt yourself. It resonates with my journey of navigating self-doubt and the challenges of adolescence, emphasizing the significance of surrounding myself with people who uplift me.
Each of these songs speaks to different aspects of the teenage experience—guilt, isolation, and the quest for self-acceptance. Billie Eilish’s ability to convey such deep emotions through her music makes her work relatable and impactful, providing comfort and understanding during difficult times.
GUTS- Olivia Rodrigo Fan Scholarship
The lyric "I stumbled over all my words / I made it weird, I made it worse" from Olivia Rodrigo’s "GUTS" resonates profoundly with my own teenage experience. It captures the awkwardness and uncertainty that often define adolescence, a time when social interactions can feel incredibly challenging. Especially when you are the new kid entering a group that has grown up together since kindergarten, I wasn't exactly welcomed to the party.
As a teenager, I frequently found myself struggling to express my thoughts and feelings, which made fitting in even harder. I often felt like an outcast, and the fear of saying the wrong thing only amplified my anxiety in social situations. This lyric perfectly encapsulates those moments when I would try to connect with others but instead ended up feeling even more isolated. It highlights the pressure to communicate flawlessly in a world where every interaction can feel scrutinized, especially when dealing with bullying.
The line reflects a common teenage struggle: the fear of making things worse. When you already feel like you don’t belong, any misstep can feel magnified, leading to even more feelings of rejection. I often made social situations awkward and uncomfortable, which only added to my sense of being an outsider. In those moments, I wished for the confidence to speak freely without worrying about how I would be perceived.
Despite these challenges, I found joy in my two best friends, who made school feel like a safe haven. They provided the support I desperately needed, reminding me that I wasn’t alone in my struggles. We shared about how each of us struggled socially and found that working together we could overcome that obstacle. Their acceptance helped me navigate the ups and downs of adolescence, making me realize that genuine connections can exist even amidst the chaos.
In essence, this lyric captures the essence of adolescence: the awkwardness, the desire for acceptance, and the complexity of relationships. It reflects how stumbling over words can feel like a personal failure, yet it also speaks to the shared experience of growing up. We all have those moments where we make things "weird" or "worse," but it’s through these experiences that we learn, grow, and eventually find our voices. Olivia Rodrigo’s ability to articulate these feelings resonates with anyone who has navigated the rocky terrain of teenage life, reminding us that we’re all just trying to find our place in the world.

This exposure will help me build a more extensive network, allowing me to connect with others who share my interests and passions. I believe that every interaction is an opportunity to learn, grow, and build rapport, and I want to seize these moments.
Additionally, I am focusing on active listening and empathy as foundational skills for building relationships. I understand that effective communication involves not just expressing my thoughts but also genuinely understanding and valuing others' perspectives. By practicing empathy, I can create a supportive environment where people feel comfortable sharing their ideas and experiences. This approach will not only strengthen my relationships but also position me as a trustworthy collaborator who values contributions from others.
Building this confidence in relationships will have a profound impact on my future. Many opportunities—whether internships, jobs, or community initiatives—rely on strong interpersonal skills. When people trust and feel comfortable with me, they are more likely to consider me for collaborative projects and roles that align with my talents. By establishing myself as a reliable and confident individual, I can open doors to experiences that will enhance my skills and enrich my understanding of the world.
Moreover, this commitment to building relationships extends beyond personal gain; it is about creating a positive impact in my community. When I become a more confident communicator, I can contribute to creating inclusive spaces where diverse voices are heard and valued. By fostering strong connections, I can collaborate on initiatives that address community needs and promote positive change. Whether it’s through volunteering, mentoring, or simply supporting others in their endeavors, I hope to inspire and uplift those around me.
In conclusion, building my relationship confidence is a multifaceted goal that will shape my personal and professional life. By actively engaging with others, practicing empathy, and focusing on effective communication, I will lay the groundwork for a future filled with meaningful connections and opportunities. This journey will not only enhance my confidence but also enable me to make a positive impact on my community, fostering collaboration and support that can lead to shared success.

John J Costonis Scholarship
My goals for the future are centered around personal growth, academic success, and ultimately, making a meaningful impact in my community. I aspire to earn a degree in a field that not only excites me but also allows me to help others. Achieving these goals requires dedication, resilience, and effective planning—qualities I have been actively cultivating.
To work toward these goals, I have implemented several strategies. One of the most significant changes has been learning to let go of control. As the oldest sibling, I often felt the need to manage everything around me, from my own responsibilities to those of my younger siblings. However, I’ve realized that relinquishing some control can lead to greater collaboration and support within my family. This shift has not only eased my stress but also strengthened our bond, allowing us to face challenges together.
Budgeting my finances has been another crucial step. Understanding the importance of financial literacy is vital as I prepare for college. I took the initiative to educate myself about budgeting, saving, and managing expenses. By tracking my spending and prioritizing essentials, I’ve learned to live within my means and set aside funds for future educational expenses. This skill will be invaluable in college, where managing finances can become overwhelming without proper planning.
Staying organized has been essential to my success thus far, and I’ve found that scheduling everything in a planner has been a game changer. I began using a planner to map out my daily, weekly, and monthly tasks, which has helped me prioritize my time effectively. By breaking down larger projects into manageable steps, I have been able to stay on top of deadlines and maintain a balanced approach to schoolwork and extracurricular activities. This habit will continue to serve me well in college, where the demands on my time will be even greater.
One of the most significant hurdles I’ve faced is the fear of asking for help. I’ve always prided myself on being self-sufficient, but I’ve come to understand that seeking support is not a sign of weakness. This realization has been difficult, especially when I needed assistance with academic challenges or personal issues. Over time, I have learned to reach out to family, mentors, and friends for help, which has made a profound difference in my life. It’s a skill I know I will need to refine further in college, where asking for guidance and utilizing resources will be essential.
In summary, my goals for the future revolve around personal and professional growth, along with a desire to make a positive impact. By learning to let go of control, budgeting effectively, staying organized, and overcoming my fear of asking for help, I am laying a strong foundation for my college experience. I know that hardships will arise, but I am prepared to face them head-on, armed with the skills and strategies I have developed. Ultimately, I believe that these experiences will shape me into a better person and leader, ready to contribute to my community and inspire others along the way.
First-Gen Futures Scholarship
Choosing to pursue higher education is a decision deeply rooted in my aspirations, responsibilities, and the desire to set a positive example for my siblings. As the oldest of four, I often feel the weight of expectations—not just from my family, but from myself. I want to carve a path that not only fulfills my dreams but also opens doors for my brothers. Higher education is the key to achieving that goal.
Growing up, I witnessed how education can transform lives. My parents, while supportive, had limited opportunities to pursue higher education themselves. Their hard work and sacrifices instilled in me a strong desire to succeed academically and to seize the opportunities that were unavailable to them. I want to honor their sacrifices by striving for excellence and breaking the cycle of limited options. Pursuing a college degree is my way of not only advancing my own future but also creating a legacy of educational achievement for my siblings.
However, the pressure to be perfect can be overwhelming. I often find myself grappling with the fear of letting my family down or not meeting the high standards I set for myself. This pressure motivates me to work hard but can also lead to anxiety. I’ve learned that embracing imperfections and viewing setbacks as opportunities for growth is crucial. This mindset will be essential as I navigate the challenges of college, where I know I will face obstacles along the way.
To prepare for this next chapter, I have taken concrete steps to ensure I’m ready for the academic and social demands of college life. First, I focused on what I wanted my 5 year goal to be and where I wanted my finish line to be at the end. I saw that doubling up my classes will help me meet that 5 year goal and also establish a good internship opportunity or job.
Moreover, I have worked on building resilience. I’ve embraced challenges, whether they be academic setbacks or personal struggles, as opportunities to learn and grow. This perspective will help me adapt to the demands of college, where challenges are inevitable. I’ve also learned to communicate openly about my feelings, seeking support from family and friends when the pressure feels too intense.
Lastly, I have prioritized my mental health. Recognizing the importance of self-care, I’ve engaged in activities that help me unwind and maintain a balanced perspective. Whether through hiking, photography, church, or simply spending time with my siblings, I ensure that I take care of myself.
In conclusion, pursuing higher education is about much more than personal ambition; it’s about setting a standard for my siblings and honoring my family’s sacrifices. While the pressure to be perfect is a constant companion, I am committed to embracing growth and resilience. I am ready to embark on this journey, knowing that each step I take not only shapes my future but also paves the way for those who follow.
Let Your Light Shine Scholarship
Hello, My name is Sarah and I am a first generation college student in my family. I am currently attending Grand Canyon University for a Bachelors degree in Graphic design with a minor in photography. Out of high school I tried attending community college for a nursing degree, but quickly found myself burnt out from the classes and the education that I was receiving. I left college and got certified as a medical assistant so I could start working full time, this helped me start my career path for the next 4 years. However after COVID hit I started to feel like being a medical assistant was not where I was being called and not where my gifts could really be used. I have always had a passion for art and decided that after a long time of pursuing medical I would take the leap of faith and pursue art through graphic design. I started at Grand Canyon University in 2022 and instantly felt like I was making a decision that was going to change my future for the better. I received support and teaching that was more student/ professor focused, unlike what I received at the community college. Going to school full time and working full time is not for the faint of heart, but it is worth it for me to get my bachelors degree and to pursue a passion that brings me joy. This scholarship will help me feel supported in my endeavors for pursuing my passion and building my skillset. There is one movie that helped me realize that my gifts can become my passion and that I should not limit myself because it is in the art field; I saw how the main character soared through pursuing her gifts and talents, now I want to do the same. Through the classes I have completed so far, I have been able to step into a volunteer role at church to make the sermon media graphics and to also run the graphics during our Sunday services. I have watched my graphics change and become more refined over time, and it has helped propel me forward in other areas as well; like my photography and communication skills. My light shines through volunteering and exceeding my own expectations for creating an environment where I can grow, and also help others grow who are interested in the graphics field like I was when first starting out. I want to be someone our youth students can talk to if they are interested in the field of Graphic Design, I want them to be able to ask me questions and I be able to provide the support for them, just like the support I have received from my church team. I want to give them opportunities to try and get started in an area where our support can be positive and life changing. For me it is all about providing the opportunity to those that are interested, just one experience can make a major impact. A legacy that I want to leave is the following mindset: "My passion has become my mission," and I hope that it encourages all that come after me.
Sharra Rainbolt Memorial Scholarship
Hello! My name is Sarah and I am a first generation college student in my family. I am currently attending Grand Canyon University for a Bachelors degree in Graphic design with a minor in photography. I work full time as the Welcome service representative for the City of Denison and also volunteer at my church (Rock Creek Church) as the graphic sermon designer and media runner. Cancer and disease has been something my family has dealt with for a long time, and most recently I lost my aunt to stomach cancer, and my mom's bestfriend and mentor to breast cancer. Both of these losses have affected our family very heavily, and they were not the only losses we experienced in the year 2023; we lost 5 family members and 2 close friends. Working through each of these losses feels like there was always another one coming and we would dread phone calls that usually would have the same message about someone we have lost. The losses of my Aunt and my moms best friend were very hard, because there was nothing we could do but watch from the sidelines as they were constantly told that nothing was helping and that they needed to try something else. Eventually we got the news that the had been given their "amount of time left," and we knew at that time the battle was lost and it was only a matter of time before they left us to be with God and fully healed. The heavy losses, heavy news, and Facebook updates were hard for me to see while completing my classes; I would run out of joy during those times and feel like giving up altogether. I still have times where I feel like giving up, but I know that is not what they would have wanted for me. Therapy has helped me work through those losses and also through the others that were just as hard or even harder, so at least I had that to lean on when I was reaching a breaking point. Communication with my professors, employers, and counselors has helped me overcome the year 2023 by giving me the time I needed to heal and finding ways to work through my bad days. I am thankful to how supportive they were and how I was not allowed to give up because of the amount of support they gave me. Cancer is awful, loss is awful, and trying to work through that sorrow is even worse; but having the support that I had during those times and still now has helped me keep going.

2. My degree does not stop at Graphic Design and Photography, it exceeds into areas that I am still learning and is constantly changing. In Information Technology I have to be up to date on the changes that occur through the programs I use and how that affects the computer software that I have installed. Sometimes it is me learning that I have to update my computer, or change passwords on certain software in order to keep my information and projects safe. I enjoy how this area is always under development and trying to find new ways to make life easier for those who do not know how to use all the fancy equipment or settings; they try to make it user friendly and also super detailed for those who need all that can be offered. Being a small branch of STEM does not mean that I am not aware of how important computer security and training is, it means that I might be even more aware and careful of what software I use and what emails I choose to open. I may not know coding or software development, but I do know a lot of it is through trial and error, and that is a lot of what I experience as a graphic designer.
3. The greatest challenge I have had to overcome is leaving college and finding the courage to come back and start on a new degree that I have no prior knowledge of. I had to learn about software, how to install it into my computer, how to use the software, and even what to do when the software makes your computer crash completely; that was a horrible lesson, lost all my work and had to purchase a new computer (which set me back on my finances for school). Every single challenge is going to come with hard lessons, that is why it is called a challenge; and mine really opened my eyes to what I needed to get prepared for. Another challenge that I experienced that coincided with the original challenge is that the information and tools did not come as easy to me as it did when all I had to do was read text books. I actually had to show that I knew the work and knew the design concepts that we were learning; talk about a bunch of late nights with me reviewing tutorials and watching YouTube videos. What I learned is that not every path is going to be like the one you had before, be open and be ready because it is better to be prepared.

Dr. Christine Lawther First in the Family Scholarship
As the first in my family to obtain a college degree, I feel like I am setting an example for my younger brothers and the opportunity for them to be able to ask me questions and what they need to do for their college experience. It also means that I am setting myself up for success and a prosperous career path. Having a college degree will help me feel more secure in the fact that I will have something that shows I put my time in for the respective field and that I am qualified; it gives me the confidence I need to know I am good enough for the jobs I am applying for. When I first started college, I wanted to pursue nursing because of how significant the pay was and how I would be able to help people get better from their ailments. I worked on this degree plan for about two years through my community college, and when COVID hit all of the hard I have been doing came to a crashing halt. All I could do is online classes and online clinicals, and that pretty much killed my spark for the nursing profession. I left college for awhile because I could no longer pursue something that I was going to be miserable in, even if it provided financially. I started working full time at this point, and did so for the next 4 years. It provided fine for while I was still trying to figure myself out, but I soon realized that I needed to do something more to be better off and finally complete my college degree. My mom helped to remind me that I have a passion for art, whether it is drawing, painting, photography, or some sort of design, it is my passion. Because of her influence I considered looking into different art degrees that would help me finish up my degree plan, and I found Graphic Design. Through Graphic Design I have been able to turn my passion into my mission, and to be able to use my gifts not only for myself but for my community. I plan to stay with the City of Denison, and become the first head of the Graphic Design department. I do not know if this will happen in the next couple years or if it will be 10 years down the road, but it is my first goal with the City of Denison that will be influenced by my degree and experience.

Starting school full time in October of 2022 was new and had its challenges, but after working through the first few classes I was able to set up a schedule that worked for me in order to get my classes completed with excellence and still be present at work like I need to be. I have been blessed to be part of an area that allows me to work on my school work and scholarships at work during down time when I do not have any projects that I would be working on. A big part of this being so successful, has been my communication that I have with my professors and with my supervisor; it also helps that I have a support team at work, church, school, and home that wants to see me achieve all dreams. I realize that my schedule is not perfect and may not work for others, but for the dreams I have I know that having this schedule even for a few years will be worth it when I walk across that stage and receive my diploma. This is a great example of what multi-tasking in my life looks like, usually busy and sometimes chaotic, but this is a great time for me to figure out what I can and cannot handle so I have a better idea for the future. I know that as I grow in my career as a graphic designer, I am going to have many projects that might be back to back and even overlapping; so learning how to work through that now will help me be better prepared in the future. Professionally, I see my self being a great manger of time for projects, meetings, and staying ahead of deadlines before they need to be completed. I do not want others to be hurt by my time management skills lacking, so I will make sure that I become efficient in my time management. When you love something that is your passion, you do not stop trying because it becomes your mission.

When you love something that is your passion, you do not stop trying because it becomes your mission.

Hello! My name is Sarah and I am a first generation college student in my family. I am currently attending Grand Canyon University for a Bachelors degree in Graphic design with a minor in photography. My mental health has always been something that I have been battling since I was in middle school, and started with how I was bullied and teased for my weight. I have been on the road of healing for almost 11 years, and still find myself affected by how I was treated in my past and how it makes me feel less worthy of things that I know I am worthy of; not to mention how hard I work for my success. Being a Christian I have been able to find support and healing through changing my way of thinking and focusing on how I can better myself without the influence of others in my life. It has not always been easy nor has it been perfect, but I do recognize how it has given me more strength to know how to navigate my emotions in a more stable way. Being an adult now has helped me learn along the way people that I am able to trust and those I shouldn't, I can see from their actions and their words whether or not they will truly be supportive of me and the plans I have for the future. My circle is pretty small because of this way of thinking, but it has proven to be very beneficial when I am looking to open up to my friends and share with them what I am going through; I have not had to worry about if they will think less of me. My circle has been by my side through break ups, family losses, and even job losses. The worst year of my life hit last year when I lost 8 people, friends and family members, in my life that each held significance; their support as they came to the funerals and reminded me that they were there for was everything that I could have asked for. I am still struggling with those losses and on the days where I am struggling the most, I know that they will lift me up from my sorrow and remind me of the things that I find joy in everyday. Without their support I would not have considered college ever again, but they saw my gifts and talents for what they really were and encouraged me to expand on those through getting more education and finishing my degree. My mental health holds me most days, but through my support system and the way I hold myself now, I can fight through it because I know what it all will be worth once I complete my degree. I have been helped to see that my passion has become my mission.

Through the classes I have completed so far, I have been able to step into a volunteer role at church to make the sermon media graphics and to also run the graphics during our Sunday services. I have been able to watch my graphics change and become more refined over time, and it has helped propel me forward in other areas as well; like my photography and communication skills. Through volunteering I have exceeded my own expectations for creating an environment where I can grow, and also help others grow who are interested in the graphics field like I was when first starting out. I have become part of a team that has become my support system and encourages my talents to grow and become fruitful because they see my capabilities. I am so thankful for what others see in me through my work, because it is helping me to open my eyes and see it too. I am seeing my passion become my mission.

WCEJ Thornton Foundation Music & Art Scholarship
Art, through many mediums, has the ability to make a positive impact in the world, serving as a universal language that bridges cultures, communicates deep emotions, and inspires change. At it's core, art has the power to evoke empathy and understanding among individuals, enabling people from diverse backgrounds to connect over shared human experiences. This ability to foster connections is crucial in a world where empathy is often the first step towards addressing social issues and building a more inclusive society.
Keeping this in mind, I want my work to speak and express, creating those moments of understanding and deep rooted thinking. I believe that a positive impact can be as small as a smile that you give someone when waiting at a stop light, so if something that small and lasts seconds can make an impact; imagine what my work can do since it is designed to stay around forever. I like to think of my art carrying the weight of the creator, when I am sad the art is dull and lacks creativity, but when the I am in a cheerful mood it is bright and colorful with different ideas all wrapped into one piece. I want my work to be able to help individuals feel peace, joy, happiness, and comfort through my art; I want them to know that my art will be there for them when they need a smile or a chuckle because it is hard to find now and days.
The art I have provided:
- A "thank you" card that I water color painted and turned into a digital file. I love using water color when painting flowers, plants, or some kind of landscape; the colors just flow together and make the art connected.
- The Eisenhower statue is from my home city at a state park, and it was part of a school project where we had to do a digital painting on a series of "interesting places" in our city. This one was my favorite because it made me laugh using my sunglasses to make it look like the statue was wearing them, it also provided an unusual point of view.
- The canyon picture, I loved how the canyon walls guided my eyes to the patterned sky. Helped me remember how remarkable nature can be.
Mental Health Scholarship for Women
My mental health is quite literally a roller coaster, and I have not managed to keep it stable like it needs to be. In my academic and personal life it has kept me from doing things that I love and has also left me paralyzed when realizing the amount of work I need to do. It has made me feel like I cannot do anything at times and I start to give up then give in to the thought that I am done with all the stuff life has thrown at me. I have outlets such as going for a run, talking to my best friend, cuddling with my corgi and pursuing my passion through my art. I may be struggling but I know what I need to do to get out of a funk and push myself to keep showing up and trying. I have noticed that during my worst times, my grades slip from A's to B's because I feel like giving up, and I hate that I do that to myself and my GPA. I have made the Dean's list and I have made the President's list, so I know what I am capable of but the weight of my mental health can pull me down so far.
My strength is not one to be envied because it took work that in the beginning was very ugly and not a journey I want for anyone. My mental health has been a battle since high school and I would say continued to get worse from that point; half of the time I am pretty sure I masked it so others would not feel uncomfortable by it. But for those that I let into my life, I was honest and opened up to them; most of those individuals were supportive and helped me find ways that I could get help and create positive outlets. I truly believe without those people in my life, I would not have been as resilient as I am now because they taught me how to be strong and take care of myself even when they are not available. Your strength comes from the experiences you have to go through, whether they are good or bad, they are the experiences that define you later down the road and that is how your strength grows. The first step is always to communicate with someone who will listen, that alone will help you know and feel that you are no longer alone in your mental health battle.

I strongly agree with your attention grabbing sentence "The world of art offers a valuable outlet for countless people around the world." Younger me had a hard time just being present at school and at home, so I would turn to doodling as an outlet for my stress and anxiety. Granted I got in trouble for doodling and not paying attention, but I felt I was still doing good and understanding the information; but hearing it for so long killed my motivation for art and I lost all joy that I found in my art. I hate that the school system I was in took that away from me, because I know that my art was an extension of me and how I expressed myself. After elementary school I stopped pursuing my art altogether, the only time that I used it was for projects that required me to be creative and put something together. I made the mistake of letting others keep me from my skillset and what gifts God gave me, and that slowed down the time it took for me to discover what I wanted to do with my life and what degree I wanted to pursue.
My mediums have usually been focused around drawing, painting, and piecing stuff to create art (like scrapbooks or paper mache). Graphic design did not become part of my life until I started getting into photography and was gifted an iPad for drawing. I did not know anything about using the new iPad for drawing, but after many YouTube videos and doing my research I finally found ways that I can create my art through Procreate. First it started out as copies of other art that I was inspired by on Pinterest and then it expanded into art that I offered as practice for my family friends by creating cartoon characters from their original images. I love how I am able to put my own creative touches in the work that I do that help set my pieces apart from others, but also my pieces stand out because I did them. They were my thoughts that I wrote down and let my hands turn it into real life work. My passion for graphic design is the learning aspect that never seems to disappoint me or bore me, because there is always something new to learn or try creating. Graphic design is always evolving and changing with the world and it helps me stay caught up with the world and what people feel influenced by.
Don't let barriers that have been set up by others slow you down or keep you from being able to create from your heart. Your creativeness is yours and yours alone, and the world is just waiting to see what beauty comes from your work.

Within my church, I am more of the behind-the-scenes person when it comes to serving and helping people meet and follow Jesus. I run the media, graphics, and music so no one knows where we are located or who we are because they are focused on the worship or the message. However, I did have one situation where I felt called to be outside of my media room and in the sanctuary so I could be part of the congregation. I do not think I was out of the media room for more than 10 minutes and I had one of the students I lead on Wednesday nights come up to me and ask for prayer because he was struggling and had no one to talk to. I was able to hand off my duties to another one of the staff members and sat with him in the lobby to listen to what he needed to talk about and receive prayer for. We talked for the whole service and there was not one moment that I allowed myself to not pay attention or get distracted, because I was able to tell that this student needed me in that moment and I was able to be there for him.
I feel like it is important to help others because you do not know what they are going through and what a small difference could make in a moment that did not mean much to you, but meant everything to them. Helping someone is going out of your way to be the positive light in someones life that they did not know they needed or even had available to them. Helping someone is learning to be selfless in a society that has become nothing but toxic and selfish, leaving people behind to fend for themselves while others flourish in their absence. Helping someone goes far beyond what I am able to do for another person, but what one action can do to create more actions around the world that ends up helping thousands. It is my strong belief that God has called us to be disciples and follow the example that Jesus came down and laid out for us; even with his sacrifice. His love was so deep for us, his perfect creation that lives imperfect lives, and was still willing to die for us and do everything he could so that we may live beside him again. Jesus set the example for how I want to help others and how I would want others to help me, so I will do what I can selflessly and with sacrifice.
