William M. DeSantis Sr. Scholarship
An important life lesson that I have learned is that you should take nothing for granted. Nothing that you have is automatically earned and everything that you have you should be thankful for that. I have learned that that there are people out there that are suffering and they have very little of the basic things they need. There are billionares around the world that are living in mansions and yet there are others that are unable to feed their family or have a safe place to sleep. I think that if some of the worlds biggest millionares pitched in to help solve the problem then we would be better off. I know throwing money at the problem isnt going to solve much though and that is why there needs to be changes made to the system.
I have also learned how easy it is to go from having enough food and shelter to having nothing. That is why you should be thankful for everything that you have. The final thing that I have learned is how much the system is agasint helping people. There are people all over the world asking for help and they are doing everything that they can and yet the government is not helping the people asking for help.
Right now I would like to expose the issue but because I am one person it is probably not going to do alot. That is why later in life I would like to have systems and places where people struggling with money, food and shelter have a place to go and get back on their feet. I know how hard it can be asking for help that is why I would want to make it as easy as possible for people to get the help they need. I also want to make sure these people are not shamed for needing help and I know that this is one of the biggest reasons why people are not asking for help.
While this has not made me stronger as a person this will make the world a stronger and better place. I know that this is a big thing and that one person isnt going to be able to make the needed changes though and that is why others need to get involved.
That is what I have learned, how it has affected me and what I would like to do about it.
Bold Persistence Scholarship
Persistence is not just something that you use one day. I use persistence every day. Every day brings new challenges and persistence is needed. It is hard for me to pick just one time when I used persistence. Persistence means a lot to me because it shows that you are stong and that you are able to overcome the challenges you face. I think that one of the biggest things that I had to overcome was my senior year of high school getting destroyed because of COVID.
I worked so hard during my junior and beginning of my senior year of high school. I took school seriously, took some of the hardest classes offered, had perfect attendance and never got in trouble and was ready to have a graduation and everything that came with graduation. COVID however had other plans and all the things I looked forward were taken away.
It took alot but I knew that I couldnt be sad about losing my graduation. I knew that I would hopefully get a college graduation and that things would get better. I also didnt let it get to me becasue I still got my diploma, cap and gown and got to cross the stage. I just didnt get the normal graduation in front of a crowd of people and my classmates that I shared this journey with for 12 years.
I know a lot of kids went though this exact same thing and that is why I think that the entire class of 2020 had to use persistence when everything they worked towards was taken away.
Deborah's Grace Scholarship
The thing that I have had to endure is getting through covid. I was graduating in 2020 and had all of these senior year things that I was so excited to do. Once covid hit all of those things got taken away and the only thing I really got was a walk across the stage with only the principal and my parents present. I worked for years to get to this goal and it got taken away due to circumstances out of my control. While my story is similar to millions of other kids' graduation stories due to covid, I have found ways to adapt and change.
I overcame this because I knew that I will get college graduation. I also overcame this knowing that some kids didn't get graduation at all. I will continue to see that as a hiccup in the plans but it is not going to stop me from achieving my goals. The final way I overcame this is that knowing things will get better. One quote that stuck with me is one thing that does not define your entire life. Life is a collection of activities and adventures, not just one thing.
This resistance will help me in the future because I am learning that I can take over my life and that I need to savor the little things and not stress about the hiccups that come my way. I am looking forward to the future so I can continue to apply the things I have learned from my previous experiences.
AMPLIFY No Code Scholarship
No code will help me reach my goals of running a business. For many years I have wanted to run a bakery. I have dreamed of making cakes, cookies, cupcakes and so much more and sell them to the public. Now that technology is rapidly advancing and more businesses are running online no code will help me get my business to more people. I would want to create a website so people can make orders and they can get to know my business. I also want to my business out on all social media platforms because I know that social media will help more people see my business. This will help when we have sales or when things run out we can let people know when they are back in stock. By no code making this more efficient that will mean that I have more time to focus on my customers and making the best-baked goods possible. That is how no code will help me reach my goals.
Better Food, Better World Scholarship
I am very passionate about food because it has many uses for us. While we eat foods to nourish our bodies, food can also bring us together as people. I am very passionate about getting working with foods and finding natural food resources. In the future, I want to work with food and I am very passionate about cooking. Currently, I am majoring in nutrition and wellness in college. In the future I would like to open a restaurant or bakery and I would love to be able to use natural foods and bring awareness to these causes.
One of the reasons that I am passionate about natural food and the environment is very complicated. We have a growing number of people in the world and food is something that we could run out of if the population continues to rise. We need to find sources of foods that can be replenished and can sustain us for a long period of time. Another reason that I am passionate about natural foods is the fact that they can be healthier. There is a rising obesity pandemic or crisis in the world. Natural foods can be healthier and need to be produced more. We also need to make it easier to get natural foods because that will be a big help in the obesity crisis. All over the world, there are plenty of fast food places and that food is not healthy. If we replaced some of those fast-food restaurants with natural food stores or stands then that might help with the obesity numbers in the world. Those are the reasons why I am passionate about natural foods and the environment.
I am learning more about these topics every day because I am currently majoring in nutrition and wellness. The classes that I am currently taken are giving me more insight into these important topics. I also want to continue to learn more about this topic because this is a growing and evolving situation. This is not something that you learn about then it is over with. I hope that I can contribute to this because I feel that this is very important.
Overall this is a cause that I feel that I want to continue to learn about and one that is very important in sustaining human life. Working on and supporting these causes are just the first step in starting changes that need to happen.
Imagine Dragons Origins Scholarship
I am a first-generation college student and while there are tons of first-gen students all around the world, I feel that I am a deserving recipient of this scholarship. I have struggled with multiple things but, those things only make me stronger in the end. I feel that I am always learning and growing as a person and that I will never stop growing as a person. I feel that we begin growing the minute we are born and grow until the day we die. Change can be big or small and even things such as waking up 30 minutes earlier are progress in my eyes.
One of the challenges that I have faced is my anxiety. I get freaked out easily and I take one idea and always think of the worst. I have since gotten better at managing my anxiety but, I know that it is still a part of me and always will be a part of me. I know that there are some people that have it much worse than I do and I am thankful for the people that helped me find ways to manage my anxiety.
Another challenge I have faced is struggling to pay for college. My family and I are not able to pay for my college. I have younger sisters that my parents have to support. I have to apply for every possible scholarship and grant in order to get my education. This has been a struggle because it is stressful worrying about how to pay for college.
Another challenge is being the first in my family to go to college. No one in my family has gone to college so I am learning everything on my own. I am also attending my first year of college during a pandemic, which makes going to college even harder. I am finding things that work for me and finding things that I would not do again. An example of this is packing too much. I ended up packing multiples of some things and I learned that I should have only brought one instead of two or three.
The final challenge is figuring out what I want to do with my career. Over the course of my life, I have changed my career choice many times. When I was in elementary school I wanted to be a teacher. I always have like helping kids and thought teaching was for me. A few years later my dreams changed and I wanted to become a chef. I like to cook and thought that if I cooked for others then that would be something that I would enjoy. My dreams then changed again and I wanted to become a special education teacher. This was after I tutored some kids in middle school and thought that this could become the career for me. My dreams then changed again but, this is what I am currently sticking with. I am majoring and getting a degree in nutrition and wellness. I chose this because I am still working with food and helping others at the same time. I hope to take my degree and do something good with it. I plan to work in a hospital or nursing home and teach others about nutrition.
The changes and struggles that I have gone through have only made me a better person. I would not change the struggles that I went through and I am happy that I went through. Life is never easy or perfect and I have learned that firsthand.
Nervo "Revolution" Scholarship
My biggest artistic ambition is cooking. I like making cooking and baking. I then like to plate my foods like they are a piece of artwork. I know that cooking is not a true form of art but, I view my cooking as a piece of art. I have been cooking for many years and I am wanting to continue cooking in my life.
This scholarship will help me take another step towards my goals. My goal is to graduate with a degree in nutrition. I am not able to pay for my education on my own so winning this would be a big help in reaching my goal. I also might want to open a bakery so I can sell some cakes and cookies. Winning this would also help reach that goal. I also enjoy community service and I have put in many hours during my time in high school. I hope to continue doing community service on top of all my other goals.
I always have had big dreams and I don't give up. I always put 100 percent of my effort into my work. If I win this scholarship it will give me, even more, drive to reach my goals.
Fleming Law College Scholarship
My experience with smartphones is a good one. I don't use it for social media. I don't have any social media accounts because I think that it leads to unneeded drama in a person's life. I don't like the idea of likes and everyone seeing what you are doing or where you are. I feel that there are somethings that should be left private life should keep private. I think social media crosses a line in some places and I don't like putting my life in the public eye. I use it to connect with my friends and family. I don't spend hours looking at random things. Most of the time I just put on some music or a podcast and then work on chores and homework. I think that it makes me more productive because I do better when I have something to listen to. I could do the same with tv, but I find myself getting distracted because I need to see the scenes behind what is happening. I think that the way I use my smartphone is very mature.
I don't think my phone impacts me behind the wheel because I do not let what is on my phone affect me. I try to keep my phone in a bag or in the passenger seat, so I am not tempted to look at my phone. I think that more people need to do that because they are always wanting to find the newest and biggest things that are happening. I try not to let those things bother me because I know that they will still be there because they are not going to go away. It is not like the text message is magically going to disappear.
I believe that we need to create a type of technology that can stop phone usage when people. This will cut down a lot of car crashes with people that are distracted. I also think that we need to change the stigma around phones and find better uses for them. Phones can be used for connecting with others but, I think it goes too far when it reaches cyberbullying. I think that if we make these changes then we will get one step closer to making the world a better place.
I believe that I am mature when it comes to the usage of smartphones. They can be good but, they can also create a lot of stress that is not needed in a person's life.
Mahlagha Jaberi Mental Health Awareness for Immigrants Scholarship
I have faced many things in my life and one of them is battling my mental health. I have had a battle with anxiety and being worried. I have tend to freak out about a lot of different things and that tends to make my mental health not be as good as it can be. I also tend to forget and worry if I remembered to do certain things such as grabbing my keys or locking the door. I know that I will not be able to fully get rid of my anxiety but, I know that I can find better ways to calm my anxiety. I also will not let my anxiety try to define me. I want to rise above my anxiety because that is just a portion of my life.
I have a whole list of things that I hope to achieve in the future. One of the things that I hope to achieve is graduating college and getting my degree. I also hope to be successful in life and get a job that I will enjoy. I plan to get a job in the food industry because I like cooking. I also like helping others and want to do community service in the future.
That is my battle and how I plan to rise above my anxiety because it does not define me. I will always try to better myself and make the world a better place.
Nikhil Desai "Favorite Film" Scholarship
My all-time favorite film is the high school musical series. This is my favorite film because I like the storyline and it is very relatable. I also enjoy listening to the soundtracks of the movie. These movies help me relax because they are easy to watch. That is why high school musical is my favorite movie.
AMPLIFY Mental Health Scholarship
Mental health has affected me greatly. I have battled anxiety for many years and since then I have begun to learn to deal with my anxiety. I also have a sister that has been diagnosed with ADHD. In the beginning, I did not want to get help because I was scared of what people were going to say but, today I am not afraid to speak my mind. There are times though when I do get scared about things but, I have found coping techniques that help. I have chosen not to let this affect my career goals because I know that I am so much more and that I have so much more to give. I also know that my anxiety does not define me and that it is just a little part of my life. I have learned that you can have a little freak out here or there but, it is just a small chunk of time and that you need to eventually move on from the stressor and find something else to think about or do. While I know that I may always have to deal with anxiety something I hope to achieve is to get rid of the stigma around not getting help. There are many people that are afraid to get and then they sit and feel sad and in some extreme cases they end up taking their own life. I am thankful that I was able to get over my battle but, I know that many others are still out there fighting their own battles. I want to make it a safe space where people can get help and they will not be made fun of for speaking out and getting the help that they so desperately need. I would like to share my story and let others know that they are not alone and that there are people all over the world that are going through what they are going through. Overall I know that there is a bigger problem that needs to be solved and I want to be there for others that are still fighting their battles. That is my story and what I plan to do to change the stigma around mental health because if your mental health is not the greatest then the other parts of your life will not be greatest. An example of this is your school or job performance deserializing because they are not focused on what they should be doing. Now on my sister's battle with ADHD and how this is another thing that I would like to change. She has had it for almost a year but, she was afraid to speak out even though she thought all the signs lined up and she was 100 percent sure she had it. I wanted to make sure that she knew that she could get the help that she needed. That is my story and stance on mental health.
Darryl Davis "Follow Your Heart" Scholarship
I am a college freshman who depends on scholarships because I would not be able to pay for college myself. I graduated in the class of 2020. I was in the top 20% of my class and I got a technical and academic honors diploma. I had a GPA of 3.5. I am attending college at ISU and I am majoring in nutrition and wellness. Some of my hobbies are reading, cooking, and baking. During my time in high school, I volunteered a lot. I put in over 60 hours and did not receive payment for any of the work that I did. All of the events that I helped out at were nonprofits.
My goal is to graduate from ISU and get my degree in nutrition and wellness. I then plan to take my degree and work in a hospital and I hope to educate people on how they can improve their eating habits. I also want to open a business one day and I would sell baked goods in my community. I also would like to continue to give back to the community, so I would want to find ways for me to get involved.
The thing that excites me most about this world is the number of opportunities. There are many things that you can do and there are the resources to get you to what you want to do. Another thing that excites me is the ability to continue to improve and continuously move on in life.
I am very determined and I am hoping that I am able to reach my goals. Winning this scholarship will help me in paying for another year of schooling. I am very appreciative of what I am given and I am thankful for the help. I hope that I am able to reach my goals and that I am able to do great things with my life.
Bubba Wallace Live to Be Different Scholarship
My story when I faced adversity probably sounds like a lot of other people's stories too but, I have bounced back and I am stronger than ever after facing my adversity. I am a part of the class of 2020 and got my senior year cut short and I entered college in the middle of a raging pandemic and in a new town full of new people. I have since then bounced back stronger than ever and this has taught me a lot about life.
I was able to overcome my struggles by looking at the positive things in life. I looked at things like my health, family, fact that we had small graduation, and that I am still able to get the college experience even if it is a little different. I then decided that I was going to try my hardest and make friends and get used to the college experience. Since then I have had one semester and I was able to keep the same GPA that I had in high school, I had in college. I also made some friends and participated in things such as game night and painting on my floor.
The things that I learned from this are the fact that the little things don't matter. I may not have gotten to do senior skip day or senior prank but, I was able to walk across the stage and move on to the next stage of my life. I am also able to attend college even if half of it is online and I am thankful for that. I also learned that not everybody has what I have and that it is good to give back to others. The final thing that I learned was to persevere and keeping pushing harder to reach your goals. The pandemic taught me that there will be issues in life but, they are not your whole life and that there will be a time when till all goes away and the world returns to normal.
This will contribute to my future endeavors because I am going to keep attending college and getting closer to getting my degree and completing another chapter in my life. This scholarship would be a big help in helping me pay for another year of college so that I can continue my journey.
JuJu Foundation Scholarship
I have two greatest inspirations in life. The first one is getting to live another day. This is one of my greatest inspirations because I know that some people are not able to have the life that I have so, I want to live to be able to help them out and let them reach their goals. I am big on volunteering and working in the community and that brings me closer to the people that are around me.
My other inspiration is getting to reach my goals. I have goals in life and I want to achieve them before I am not able to achieve them. My goals are to get my degree in nutrition and wellness from ISU and making the dean's list at least once. I then want to be able to take my degree and do something good with it. I want to take my degree and skills and work in a hospital and teach people how to better their nutrition.
There are many things that drive me. Some of the things that drive me are my family and friends. They push me and encourage me that I can do anything that I put my mind to and that tells me that I am on the right path. Another thing that drives me is my drive and determination. I will fight through anything and everything to reach my goals and I am not afraid to go through the hard times because I know that those struggles will make me a better person in the end. The final thing that drives me is wanting to do more. I know that I can do more with my life and I want to do big things with my life and help others because I know that they might not have the opportunities that I have.
I love helping others and I know that I have so much more to give. I have so many plans and dreams and this scholarship would help a lot with helping me reach my dreams of helping others.
John J. DiPietro COME OUT STRONG Scholarship
My role model in life is my area, thirty teacher. She taught the culinary arts class and we learned how to cook different foods. Also, we had mini restaurants where we served the public. I was a server every time and I also was able to grow on my people skills because prior to taking this class I was nervous about talking to strangers. I have learned so much from this teacher and she is one of my favorite teachers that I have had. I have learned that you have to be hardworking and you can't give up. She has also taught me that nothing gets done without communication and being open with your peers and coworkers. She also showed how time management, teamwork, and attitude can affect things in the workplace and school.
I have applied these to my goals and everything that she has taught me has made me a better person. I always have had good time management but, she showed me how to apply and grow on the skills that I already have. I have also taken her resilience and positive attitude to keep reaching my dreams and goals in life. I am hoping to take everything that she taught me and get a job in the food section.
I will pay forward what I have learned and try to teach others what I learned from my role model. I don't think a lot of people understand things such as time management and communication. I think that those are important things and that they need to be taught to kids at an earlier age. I was taught this as a senior in high school but, I think that it should be taught to freshmen or sophomores in high school because by then a lot of them are either in the workforce or planning on entering the workforce soon.
My role model taught me a lot of fundamentals that can be taken into the workforce and into higher education. I feel that these are important topics and I am glad that my teacher taught me these things because no one else has taught me these things and I had to learn them on my own. She made me a better person and I am happy to have taken her class and it was an experience that I will not forget.
"What Moves You" Scholarship
A quote that I find motivational is " If you cant do great things, do small things in a great way". I like this quote for many reasons. One of the reasons is that it shows that you don't always have to the most extravagant things. It also shows that if you put your heart and soul into something then you can do great things no matter if they are big or small. It shows that attitude and effort are the two most important things rather than what you are doing. That is the quote that speaks to me and why it has inspired me to pursue my goal of being a dietician.
Charles R. Ullman & Associates Educational Support Scholarship
I think that it is very important to help others in your community. There is always someone that needs help. It can be big or small but, someone needs help. Helping others can be good for you because it raises your self-esteem and it is good for the other person because they got the help that they needed.
I have helped in my community in many ways. One of the ways that I have helped my community is by becoming a camp counselor. For one week in the summer my community holds a non-profit summer camp for kids in middle and elementary school children and they have high school and college students be the camp leaders. I have done this camp for 3 years and was set to do another year but it got canceled due to the pandemic. We walk the kids to different stations and then we also help the station leaders if they need help setting up games of crafts. I have also helped at community garage sales. I helped serve food and handled the money. I also served food at a community banquet and food at an elementary school choir concert.
I plan on helping out in my community in the future. I plan on becoming a nutritionist/dietician and help people make choices when it comes to their food. I also plan on doing smaller activities and helping out at other events, similar to what I have done in my community.
I believe helping others is important and I hope to continue to do it in the future. I also wish that other people helped others more often because that would be a major step in making the world a better place.
Elevate Women in Technology Scholarship
While my career choice is not in technology, I still want to make the world a better place and one way that I plan on doing that is by making an online database. I want to make an online database full of healthy recipes. I want to provide things where you can select what diet or health problems you have and then you will get recipes that follow those guidelines. Most times you have to substitute things out or take hours searching for foods that work for your diet but, this would make it very easy and quick. This will make the world a better place because it will make people healthier. It will also help people by not having them stress as much when they are figuring out what they want to make for dinner or lunch.
Another part of this database is how easy it is to make a grocery list off of the site. This will make it easier for people when they are shopping. All of the ingredients and exact measurements will be listed and then you can compile all of the things and the site will make a list. This makes it very easy when you are going to the grocery store and shopping. In this database, they can also save recipes in their own virtual cookbook so if they like them then they can easily find them again.
All of these things help the number of people who don't know what to make for dinner and helps them find recipes. It also helps people that follow certain diets and makes it very simple for them instead of them having to figure out which ingredients need to be taken out. This makes it easier and takes up less time when something as simple as finding what to eat should be. This will also help cut down on the number of obese people because it can introduce you to different diets that you may not have been aware of. The final reason why this would help humanity is that it is easy and that is important because one of the number one reasons why people stop diets is because they don't like the food or they can't find anything to eat. This makes it easy and they do not have to stress over finding something to eat.
My idea of using technology to make people healthier is something I would like to do because I think it is important. There is a lot of misinformation and people need things to be quick and efficient so that they can finish one task to move on to another. Something as easy as meal planning should not take a long time and it should not cause significant amounts of stress. I hope that my idea works because it is a needed tool in the world of meal planning and eating. That is my idea for using technology and making the world a better place.
Act Locally Scholarship
My goals for the world and my community are probably unrealistic but, I would like to get to a point where some things are going to get better. While some things like viruses and violence cant are avoided I would like to get rid of the things that can be fixed. I would like for everyone no matter their race or political affiliations to get along. I would also like for people to stop getting into fights and using fights to solve their problems. There are better ways to solve problems rather than pointing a gun or killing the others involved. I would also like to make the world a healthier place. I would like to cut down on the number of gas emissions that are being put into the air. The final thing that I would like to see is the fact that fast food can be so cheap and then the price of buying fruits and vegetables is so much higher. I would like to make buying fruits and veggies more accessible for people and make them cheaper. I think that will cut down on the number of people that are obese in the country. While these goals are most likely not going to be reached I am still taking actions to make the world a better place.
The action that I am taking to make the world a better place is volunteering in my community. I have put over 70 hours of help in my community. I have worked at a summer camp for 3 years and was hoping to do a fourth year until it got canceled due to the pandemic. I also helped at garage sales. I set up all of the tables. I also served food and took care of the money. I also served at banquets and I also helped make some of the food for the banquets. I also helped at elementary Christmas concerts and passed out cookies and juice. During all of these events I did not receive payment and I was one of the only people to show up and help. I think that more people need to help out because there are people that need it. Even if just one or two show up that is great but, if we got so many more people coming out to help then we could be more efficient at public events and then more people would not have to work as hard.
I think that helping out is a great thing to do. While what I would like to see for our world in the future is most likely not going to happen, I still like to know that I am making a difference in my community because I know that it is a start and once you get started you don't know how much you could end up doing. That is why I think helping out is important and that more people should do it. The world needs to improve and I think that what I do is just a little step in the progress that needs to be made.
Brady Cobin Law Group "Expect the Unexpected" Scholarship
Legacy means one thing to me and that means to let your story live on for others to see. Leaving a legacy means letting others see what you achieved and then letting them add on to your legacy. Yes, there are different kinds of valuable legacies. One of the valuable legacies is achievements in a certain field. You could discover something new in science or you could discover a new part of history and then you would always be a part of the legacy of finding that thing or idea. Another type of legacy is the legacy for your attitude. There are some people that have everything given to them and then there are others that have to work hard to get what they have. The ones that have to work hard yet have a good attitude should have the legacy of never giving up despite the rough times and the hardships.
When I am being asked what kind of legacy I want to leave behind, the answer is easy and that is a good one. While that answer is the one most people would say there are reasons behind why I want to leave a good legacy. I want to be remembered for something good. Whether it is small or big or in math or science, I want to leave my mark on the world. I also want to show my kids that you can do whatever you set your mind to and I would want them to have the same goals. I want to leave behind a legacy of kindness and hard work and am known for my good attitude even through the hard times. That is the kind of legacy that I want to leave behind.
Austin Kramer Music Scholarship
The song that I picked to build my playlist around is " How they Remember You" by Racal Flatts.
These are songs that I enjoy listening to. All of these songs give me the motivation to get things done. They all also have good messages in them because I like learning the story behind the songs. My playlist spans multiple genres. There is country music, rock music, pop music, and even music from Disney songs.
Great Outdoors Wilderness Education Scholarship
My wilderness experience comes from when I was a young teenager. When I was 15 years old I worked at girl scouts camp. I led tours in the woods, did activities in the cabins, and taught them how to make food that is good for camping. I also had to help set up some of the tents. I also had to make the lunches for the kids in the wilderness. My other experience in the great outdoors is when I became a little older. I then became a camp counselor in my hometown and took kids to different stations and there we learned everything about animals to science to math.
I have learned that the great outdoors needs to be preserved because all of the gases that we are putting out into the air is affecting the health and the quality of the animals that depend on the great outdoors to thrive. Almost every day we lose some animals and some of them are going completely extinct if we do not change our habits. I think that we need to find ways to preserve the wilderness so we can protect those animals that need those things for them to survive. That is why we need to protect the animals as much as possible.
Elevate Mental Health Awareness Scholarship
The dictionary defines mental as the person's condition with the regard to their psychological and emotional well-being. Mental health has helped me a lot. I always take time to see how I am feeling before I talk to others because I know that if I am in a bad mood then that can put them in a bad mood. I also like to take into account how the other person is feeling when I am talking to them because if they are upset, I do not want to upset them more.
I also think mental health is a good thing to look at when you are looking for careers because your mental health will be better if you are doing a job that you enjoy instead of being in a job that you are miserable while you are doing it. I feel that if you make choices that help you in making you happy then your mental health will be better for not only you but everybody around you.
Mental health affects many things and it is important for people to see that you need to make sure that you understand how you are feeling because that can affect a lot of things in life. I am always concerned with my mental health because I tend to overthink things and then I get worried about things that turn out to be nothing. That is why I try to make sure that I go through everything before actually making decisions and talking to others.
Many people don't understand how much mental health can really affect. Some people like to force things or they want to try to cover things up from others and that can cause their mental health to deteriorate and that is not good for them because I believe that if your mental health is not good then that can lead to other sicknesses. It can then escalate to them taking their own life if they are not comfortable with the way they are feeling. I believe that mental health can affect your body as a whole and that is why protecting your mental health and knowing how you feel is important for people to do.
I think more people need to be taught more about mental health because this was not a topic that I learned in school and I think that if it was something that was taught to kids then maybe the world would be a better place. A reason why I say this a lot of bullying incidents happen because the kids don't have the right mental health and they pick on others because they want them to feel the same way that the other kids feel.
Overall I think that mental health has affected me greatly because it affects the way I talk and the way I go about doing things. I think that this is an important topic that I think more people need to be talking about because I think that I would help the world a lot of this was talked about more.
First-Generation, First Child Scholarship
My experience as a first-generation college student has been good but also stressful. This combination means that I am the first to go to college in my family. This is added to the fact that I am entering college during the middle of a pandemic which makes things harder because I have to worry about staying healthy and attending online classes. It means that I will have to go through all of the college experiences alone and I won't be able to ask anyone for advice. It has not affected my school work because I am hardworking and have never given up. I have kept all a and b honor roll through high school and now that has continued into my college education. It has affected me mentally because there were times that I wanted to quit when things got hard and I got frustrated when things did not go right. Even though I had these struggles I still preserved through all of them. I have not let these struggles affect me mentally. I try to stay strong through the issues that I encounter and I am proud that I have been able to not let things bother me.
All of the things that I encounter make me a stronger person and I am happy that I have gone through them if it makes me a better person. Some people avoid situations when things get tough and some people crack under the pressure but, I like to stay strong and keep moving forward.
Scholarcash Role Model Scholarship
While I have had many role models in my life there is one that helped me the most. My biggest role model is my culinary arts teacher. I attended her class while I was a senior in high school. My culinary arts teacher supported me and wanted me to reach for the stars when pursuing college. She taught me so much about cooking and how the food business works. She was always able to help me and sometimes she pushed me to keep going when I wanted to give up. When things got tough she pushed me and would not let me stop reaching my goal. She also would not let me bake the easy things because she knew that I could handle making the things that are more difficult. She also kept me at server in a our restaurant everytime because she knew that I could handle working with people and she also knew that I would communicate well with the other servers. She encouraged me when I did good things in class and then during the times that I struggled she was there to help. I attended class everyday and couldn't wait to be in class and I participated a lot in the class discussions.
Another reason why she is my biggest role model is that while I am not in her class today she has stays in touch with me and has seen my progress. I have never had a teacher that has stayed with me and kept in touch to see how I was doing. I really appreciate her doing that and wish that more teachers checked in on their students after they graduate. It helps show me that she still cares and still wantes me to succeed even though I am not in her class.
My role model showed me that I can reach my dreams and that they are possible. She also showed me that I can be a leader because while I was in her class my leadership skills grew and grew the longer I was in the class. In the beginning, I was really unsure of serving strangers and having to work in a big commercial kitchen but once I got the hang of things I really liked being in the kitchen and serving the public. I learned so much from her and hope that others are able to have her as a role model too.
I have taken all of the skills that she has given me and I have used them to make me a better person. I have also taken her lessons while going to college. There were times that I have used her advice when I was struggling and it helped me through the hard times. I was sad that my time in class got cut short due to COVID-19 but, I enjoyed every day that I was in class.
That is the role model that has had the biggest effect on me. Taking her class has made me a better person and I am glad that I was able to take her class and gain those life experiences.
Pettable Pet Lovers Annual Scholarship
This is my dog, Max. He is a black lab. He was chilling in my sister's room while I was taking the picture. While he can make a mess sometimes and need a lot of attention and love I still love him. He is so much fun and loves to run around the yard with my other dogs.
Wheezy Creator Scholarship
I want to create a world where the world obesity rate goes down. While I know this is a hard thing to do I am going to keep pushing to reach my goals. I want to create a place where people can go to get help and they can better themselves because I know that eating healthy is an important thing to do. This is a vital thing for the world to see because if you exercise more and make healthier choices while eating then you will become a happier person. I know that some places charge people to create diets and follow an exercise program but, I think that if there were some free programs for everybody to participate in them then people will want to follow them more often. That is why I would create a program so people can get healthier and live longer.
Great Outdoors Wilderness Education Scholarship
My experience in the great outdoors is when I was in charge of running a girl scout camp for the weekend. Everything we did was in the woods and the theme had to deal with protecting the wilderness.
I have learned that the wilderness can calm people because during the time while I was running the camp I was not worried about the issues we were having to deal with. We were just dealing with the mistakes and not worrying about them after we took care of them.
Wilderness has not affected my career goals but, it has shown me what it is to be someone who protects the environment. I have greater respect for people that are in this career field.
