Going into college my planned major is to become an education major, and use that to become an elementary school teacher, as well as spend some time as a special education teacher. I have always known that I wanted to work in a field with children, at first I had my mind on a children's counselor or a social worker. Though I felt as though most of the time with those jobs it can turn a bit saddening. Then I fell into teaching and thought back to the teachers I had when I was young, and never saw them unhappy with their job. My passion in teaching gives me something to look forward to. The idea that I can make a difference and impact kids positively, as well as open them to the love of learning and growing their knowledge. Growing up I alway took learning seriously, I found it very interesting how once you learn one thing everything else builds off of that. How learning letters turns into learning words, then that turns into reading sentences, and then on. I always strived for the best in academics, trying to always come out on top, though during the end of my sophomore year of high school, I went through a series of complications that ended up making it difficult to attend school everyday. This made it difficult for me to complete, and receive any of the work like everyone else putting me at a disadvantage. I tried as much as I could to learn and understand everything on my own in the time that I had, as well as dealing with home situations. I ended up graduating with passing grades though I had to switch schools going into Junior year because home situations didn’t get better which caused me to move out from my guardians house and live with a cousin of mine. Starting Junior year it was hard to keep up with everything, new school, to new house. I didn’t challenge myself academically like I had wanted to because my mind was already preoccupied. Though I passed my classes and got through it. Later down the year in March I had to move back to my guardians house, and go back to my original highschool. This sudden move made me realize that all of this work I’m putting in can be of use, that I can push myself to do something greater. This challenge created a spark in me to actually accomplish something, to look forward to a career and a future. As well as look more positively on not only what's in store for me, but as well as just my own personal growth.
