    Mortar 2021 Scholarship
The most challenging experience that l encountered in my life is when my parents separated. I was just at the age of nine and still in primary school. As the oldest of four kids l had to step up and take care of my young siblings when my mother was struggling to make ends meet and put food on our table.I learnt to be responsible at a very young age. As time went by, my mother wasn't able to pay for the living expenses at the suburb where we stayed and my father didn't bother helping even with the tuition, fees and food. My mother had to make a very difficult decision to move to the rural areas where we struggled to adjust to the way of living there. Everything was just different. She encouraged us to study hard. We had a vegetable garden to sustain us and we started to farm maize as well. The rural schools had no libraries, no science laboratories and no means to access wifi. By that time l was now in high school.,the teachers were hands on, even though we didn't have much materials to use, we just made sure we maximized the little we had. After four year, l graduated my ordinary lavel with 6 A's 2 B's and a C. My mother was very happy and l encouraged my younger siblings to keep working hard because we had a vision. We used to promise each other that we'll make it despite our circumstances and we vowed to change our mother's life because she left everything and everyone and sacrificed her life to take care of us when our father had abandoned us.We just heard that he got a second wife and they had two kids. He went and never looked back. I started my advanced level in a peri urban small city and mainly did commercials and arts subjects. I did exceedingly so well, l couldn't even believe myself. My young brother passed his primary examinations and started high school. We were now used to rural life. I finished my advanced level in November 2018 and up to now, my mother and l, we've been struggling to raise money for my university tuition and fees. My young siblings are still going to school though and we're fending for them. My mother got a job as a house help in one of the peri urban in the city and we moved there. We now have access to wifi and someone l told my story encouraged me to look up for scholarships on the internet and maybe l might get lucky. So since then, I've been applying for as long as l can remember but sometimes, stop halfway because they require application fee and bank statements to prove l can support myself, when l can barely make it past the application fee issue. I was hoping if l can maybe get a scholarship at your institution, l promise l won't let you down. I will work hard because I really want something for myself so that l can change my mother's life and that of my siblings. I would really appreciate such a great opportunity.

I am passionate about entrepreneurship, to have my a successful business and be my own boss. I would like to major in manufacturing, l have a specific product in mind that l want to develop and see it take over in the global market. Having a business degree is going to help me achieve this goal because with l knowledge l will acquire, l will be able to do my stuff, from manufacturing, marketing, advertising, insurance, finance and auditing. I wish to see my product in highly reputable shops, websites and anywhere you can shop and purchase it.
