My name is Sage Angell and I am from Lovell, Wyoming. I am a second-generation college student that loves school! Ever since I was little, I have enjoyed going to school. I am currently enrolled at Sheridan College in Sheridan, Wyoming and I am perusing an associate of science degree in Elementary Education. In Sheridan, I run an after school program with my peers that are free to all students in the district and are held at the college. Here, we teach students about STEAM ideas, and we also have fun with hands-on projects! I have found a new love in the STEAM curriculum and have loved having the freedom of teaching small humans about science concepts! We do this for about 3 months in the springtime. After I graduate from Sheridan in May, I will be transferring to the University of Wyoming to pursue a double bachelor's degree in Elementary Education and K-12 Special Education. When I transfer, I am excited to bring my knowledge and background into STEAM and incorporate that into my educational journey at a university level. Someone that has influenced my degree choice is my high school Spanish teacher, Bob Weber. Mr. Weber gave us the opportunity as Spanish II students to teach elementary students a science lesson and an activity once a month. This was the time of my life when I really realized that I loved creating lessons, and activities and teaching students in a classroom setting. I will always credit Mr. Weber for helping me realize that I have a very strong love for teaching kids and learning from them along the way! Once I get my double bachelor's, I plan on using my degree to teach students in a Title I school. My dream position would be teaching special education in middle school. While I was obtaining my substitute teaching license, I spent a lot of time in middle school observing. There I found that I loved their energy, and intelligence that they brought. I have always loved the special education aspect of teaching and would like to work in that department long-term. I am getting both degrees so I can be hirable no matter where I go. Having freedom in my job choice is important to me, and having both would give me that freedom. I have also found joy in the elementary setting, so I would be extremely happy with either of those options!
