Hello, my name is Roman Rai, I have lived in Nepal as a Bhutanese refugee
ever since I was born (2002). Before I was even born my parents were Bhutanese citizens and they were deported from Bhutan during the protest against oppressive measures of the Bhutanese government by some of the Lhotshampas demanding Human Rights and democracy in Bhutan. Leading my parent into being Bhutanese refugees in Nepal.
Altho I was not born when my parents were deported from Bhutan, however, I was born in a Nepal Bhutanese refugee camp. Living there, they do provide you with the things like Ration, school, house, and chance of moving to a different country. However, it was not an easy place to live, for example, you can’t have electricity in the houses because the houses were built from bamboo, and getting water was not an easy task, but to this day I am thankful that they gave as refugees a place to live when we were deported from Bhutan.
As time went on me and my family was able to move to the U.S.A in 2015.
In the begging, we did not know how to speak English and it was hard not knowing what people were saying when they were talking. Many years passed we started to speak and understand English, we were getting more independent and we brought our first car, leading to my parents having a better job and having a little more money, however, I have seen my parents work ever since when I was young. Giving me the motivation to work harder because when I get my dream job I will take care of them.
After looking back from the past five years. I have come far from home, so I don't want to stop here, I want to go on and be the greatest I can be, All these past five years have Giving me the motivation to not stop and kept going till I get my dream job.
