Learner Math Lover Scholarship
I love math because math is very satisfying. The satisfaction of math is brought out by being able to solve a math equation. It makes me feel smart. A lot of people tell me they hate math and it makes me feel good that I'm good at math and enjoy doing it. The initial spark that created my love in math was that math didn't involve reading. I enjoy reading to a certain extent, however I would much rather do a equation that takes me a minute or two, then to read five paragraphs and answer some confusing questions. Now that I am getting older I am appreciating math more. Math is a vital part of life. From counting money to figuring the square footage of a house math is all around us. In college I am majoring in welding and minoring in art. Welding and art both involve math. Welding uses math in measurements and basic mathematical formulas. For example, welders have to figure out the pressure and volume of various gases using squared and cubed calculations. Math in art is more related to size. The size of your work piece will depend on the size of your art work. Therefore, math will help to determine the size of your artwork to make it fit into your work piece. So as you can see math is everywhere. Nobody can escape math so there is no sense of running from it. I challenge everyone who hates math to embrace math.
Lynn Welding Next Generation in Welding Scholarship
Why welding? I chose welding because I am very passionate about it. Welding is a vital part of everyday life. Without welding skyscrapers, bridges, highways, oil and natural-gas pipelines, giant wind turbines, and solar panels would be impossible to build. Over 50 percent of structures built in the United States are welded or involve some sort of welding. The field of welding is hurting for trained, skilled and long-term welders. Most welders today will quit, die, retire, or get fired. I on the other hand want a career in welding, and want to further my education in welding to get certified in all types of welding including submersion.
Welding is very important in ways such as building and art. Many people have a career in metal art. Metal art is becoming more popular and sought after. There are four metal art museums in four different locations around the world. I have a passion for art as well as welding. I enjoy making metal art, and regular art on my free time. I do a lot of drawings and metal art for my loved one and friends. I've got lots of great feedback from various people, which gives me confidence to pursue art of all types on in my free time or on the side.
I found my passion for welding my sophomore year of high school. I started studying at Career Tech West. I have now attended their program for 3 years. I am certified in core and level 1 with NCCER, and I am currently a 3rd year teacher assistant. The time I have spent there as revealed a passion for welding, and teaching. I hope to have a long career of on field welding, and to retire and teach welding at a high school or college level.
In conclusion, I am looking forward to my life after high school. I am very optimistic and excited to see what I can accomplish. I am also excited for the future experiences to come, I'm eager to learn more about welding, and anything that may spark my interests in the future. Welding is a great field to get into, and I have absolute enjoyed every second I have spent partaking in it. Welding is important, therefore it is important for the people that do it to be well trained, skilled, and passionate about the trade. I hope to be one of many workers that checks all of these boxes, and makes a difference in the world and the welding industry.
