I am passionate about my sport because it is my way to escape, it has made me lifelong friends, and it has taught me very valuable lessons. BMX racing is my way to escape from everything else going on in my life. When I get out on the track and do a lap, that is all I'm focused on, which is so peaceful. Also, ever since I started racing, I have continued to make amazing friends that I now can call family. I know that no matter what I go through in life, they will always be there for me. BMX has also been able to teach me some very valuable lessons that I will cherish forever. I have learned that nothing comes easy and you need to work for what you get. every trophy I have in my case is because of hard work and never giving up. I have learned to have great sportsmanship towards peers no matter how upset you may be. Sometimes I felt like storming off after a race but after watching others after races, I quickly realized that wasn't the correct thing to do. I also learned to focus by doing BMX. When you find something you love to do, you want to spend most of your time doing it. Focusing on an activity heavily keeps your mindset great and causes less distraction throughout your life. With all that being said, BMX plays a huge role in my life and how I have been shaped as a person. Sports have taught me a lot about myself through the years. Besides the BMX racing, I have played basketball, done gymnastics, and even tried out dancing for a while. All of these sports taught me that I am a very determined person who will never give up on the task at hand. Even when I wasn't the best on the field or the mat, I always was determined to learn from my mistakes and try to become the best. I have also learned that I can do anything I put my mind to. I may have not been great at any of these sports at first, but by sticking with it, I always progressed and became a pretty decent part of the team. I am thankful that I learned these things about myself because understanding how you, as a person, function and work is super important to a life filled with good quality living.

Some people may wonder what defines success; I define success as being something you work hard for that benefits the way you or others around you live. What I mean by this is that if you complete a task and it ends up propelling you forward in life, that means you have been successful. My mindset differs from my peers in the way that I will always aim for the highest standing in whatever I decide to do. I feel like a lot of my peers just put a minimal amount of effort into something required to complete it. However, I always put in 100% effort no matter what. I believe my mindset will bring success in my life because I will always stand out in jobs, schools, etc. Any organization looking to include someone in their program always wants the hardest working one that applied. Having the mindset that I do, I will almost always be the hardest-working peer.
