Bio

Raylon De'Shawn Larry is my name. On my father's side of the family, twins have a long history. As a result, I am privileged to be a twin descendent. Despite the fact that I come from a large family, no one in my family has attended college. I will be a First-Generation college student by the fall of 2023. I am dedicated to academic success. I have always showed a good work ethic and discipline throughout my school path. My good GPA indicates my commitment to studying and accomplishing my academic objectives. Aside from academics, I am active in extracurricular activities and community involvement. I believe in holistic development and want to make a good difference both within and outside of the classroom. I've been involved in a number of groups and organizations where I've gained leadership, collaboration, and a feeling of responsibility. I am facing financial difficulties that may impede my pursuit of further education. That is why I am actively pursuing scholarships and financial aid to relieve this load and allow me to concentrate on my academics. Receiving your scholarship would not only give me with the required financial assistance, but it would also act as recognition of my hard work, devotion, and promise. To summarize, I am a hardworking, determined, and deserving student ready to thrive academically, contribute to society, and make a difference in the world. Thank you for taking the time to examine my application. I Enjoy: -Serving my community -Science and healthcare -Mental health

    Jillian Ellis Pathway Scholarship
Due to income disparity, I had a tough childhood. My Great-Grandmother and mother raised me with my older sister, Lavonda, and brother, Raylin, in a three-bedroom house. My mother and grandmother would skip meals for my siblings and I to eat. During my school years, I would miss visiting my mother and grandmother because of my long work hours. Due to my living circumstances, I was unable to attend a school that provided a decent education. A few years later, I graduated high school. I say this due to the fact no one in my family has graduated high school. In addition to that, college. The high experience taught me to keep going and to never give up. Additionally, I can accomplish any goal I put my mind to. I will tell you more about my experience. "HIGH SCHOOL IS GOING TO BE THE BEST 4 YEARS OF YOUR LIFE!" said 14-year-old me. Mental health has been important to me as a student for the past four years. Throughout all 4 years of high school, I faced a variety of issues that exacerbated my sadness due to mental health. I had to witness the separation of a close family member at that time. In addition, not being accepted for my sexuality, and dealing with virtual learning. That includes the state of my living situation and having to live on the couch. I kept up my efforts and endurance. I was diagnosed with depression and anxiety. Still dealing with Coronavirus and mental health concerns, and I had no way to cope with the consequences of my health. I ended up being hospitalized. I wanted to give up and drop out, but I knew I had to break the cycle. After 2 months in the hospital, I started to gain motivation. I realized that I could not let depression and anxiety take over. I started to go outside more and communicate with some old friends. When August came around, I chose to be a member of The National Beta Club, 4-H, Theatre, Student Council, and Yearbook. Nobody in my family was able to accomplish this. These extracurriculars enabled me to improve my leadership abilities, something I could not accomplish previously. I was able to step out of my confront zone and get over my social anxiety, and deep depressive thoughts. I continued to do many activities throughout high school and graduated in the TOP 10%. Being the first person in my family to accomplish things like that was amazing, especially the greatest of all, being a first-generation high school graduate. My career ambitions include being a Medical Lab Technician. Since I was born premature, I acquired Chronic Asthma as a result of being born two months early. Asthma is the reason I decided to become a Medical Lab Scientist. Throughout elementary and middle school, I was hospitalized. I was fortunate to witness the impact of Medical Technicians on my life. I seen the lack of diversity, and realized I can be the change. As of now, my mother must take out six loans in her name for me to attend Louisiana Tech University. My mother did not have enough money to start a college fund. The school did not grant me any scholarships, I am seeking as many as possible. I require this scholarship to assist pay for my college tuition. I don't want my mother and I to remain in debt. One day, I hope to give back to my community and impoverished families in the same way that you do for students like me.

Asthma is one experience that motivated me to pursue a career as a Medical Lab Scientist. I was hospitalized throughout elementary and middle school. I had the privilege of witnessing the influence of Medical Scientists on my life. Even though my mom did not have the financial resources, the MLS's helped us. I learned a lot from them throughout the process. Mental health has been important to me as a student for the past four years. I realized that I could not let depression and anxiety take over. I knew I wanted to be officially an MLS and go to Medical School. I started doing programs to help me prepare to become a leader. For example, Day with the Doctors at Louisiana State University, and Day with AHEC. My first day as a freshman began on August 13th, 2019. Year, I was this bashful kid who had no intention of becoming involved. Four years later, the child has become an inspiration to others. COVID-19 debuted in 2020, and it had a significant influence on my school. I saw how students at my school had lost their school spirit and excitement. My class, the Class of 2023, has faced several mental health difficulties. My class has fallen from 75 to 37 pupils due to dropouts. I thought I could make a difference and benefit the current and future kids. Furthermore, I've seen many of them drop out of sports and extracurricular activities they planned to participate in months or years before they lost interest. I joined Student Government, 4-H, Yearbook, National Beta, and Theatre when school started in August 2021. I volunteered and helped to organize school events. Pep rallies, Trunk or Treat, open homes, and even a Fall carnival are examples. As time passed, I received three honors from my school for great character and improvement. Because children were dealing with mental health issues, I intended on collaborating with instructors and establishing the Raylon Foundation to assist them with their academic path. I aim to one day give back to my community and disadvantaged families in the same manner you do for youngsters like me. I've already begun working on an app to assist pupils who are dealing with mental health issues or parental issues at home. "A TAP AWAY FROM A HEALTHY TOMORROW" is the name of the app. As part of the Congressional App Challenge in 2023, this app was delivered to the Louisiana State Legislature and the Congress of Washington, D.C.://studio.code.org/projects/applab/fxNTbEn2a8kV0UkbH7aebblUGFNEMu4-t-tWdYTjt_w While in college, I plan on being involved on campus. I have plans to join different campus organizations to bring joy to other students. I plan on doing Union Board, Black Student Union, Peer Leadership, Student Recruiters, Tech Leadership, and Student Government Association. I want to show students that it does not matter where you come from. I want to express how you can succeed in any environment or circumstance. I want to create a non-profit organization in my town that helps students, and First-generation students like myself get ready to prepare for college. I want to help guide them through the process and help make sure they're mentally stable and that it is okay to struggle. I strive to give back to my community and disadvantaged families in the same manner you do for young people like me.

Mrs. Whitley picked me up without hesitation after my mother left the country, had doctor's visits, and was involved in a deer accident over the holiday season. My mother jumped over a bush at seven months pregnant to get chips. Yolanda Jackson and Raylon Daniel Larry delivered me 17 years ago, on Thursday at 2:32 a.m. at Mississippi Baptist in Jackson, Mississippi. My name is Raylon De'Shawn Larry. Twins have a lengthy history on my father's side of the family. As a result, I am fortunate to be a descendant of that line. I have a twin brother named Raylin Larry, who attends University View Academy. Even though I come from a huge family, no one in my family has attended college. By the Fall of 2023, I will be a First-Generation college student. My mother, Yolanda, and my father, Raylon, did not attend High-School. I was raised in Tallulah, Louisiana, but I attend Delhi Charter School in Richland Parish. I adore playing the piano, taking photographs, and painting. I was diagnosed with depression and anxiety. Still dealing with Coronavirus and mental health concerns, and I had no way to cope with the consequences of my health. I ended up being hospitalized. Suicide is the second-leading cause of mortality among teenagers and young people in today's culture. Many young people are reluctant to speak up for fear of being judged. As a student leader, I've witnessed how kids at my school have lost their school spirit and enthusiasm. My grade, Class of 2023, has dealt with mental health challenges in particular. Due to dropouts, my class has shrunk from 75 to 37 students. Furthermore, I've seen many of them cease participating in sports and extracurricular activities they wanted to join months or years before they lost enthusiasm. Mental health has been important to me as a student for the past four years. In today's society, many people are involved online. I would make an app to contribute and make mental health care more affordable. I would establish "A Tap Away From A Healthy Tomorrow Today," ''A Tap Away From A Healthy Tomorrow Today'' is an app that I would program to demonstrate to kids and adults. This app would help with health challenges during difficult times. This app will be free and used in schools, hospitals, and libraries. As of right now, I started making the app "A Tap Away From A Healthy Tomorrow" that the facility uses at my school. Asthma is the reason I decided to become a Medical Lab Technician. Throughout elementary and middle school, I was hospitalized. I was fortunate to witness the impact of Medical Technicians on my life.

I added a random lady to Snapchat on July 26th, 2018. We struck up a discussion, and I discovered that we both had a passion for animals. She took a picture of her family's animal shelter around 10 minutes later. I told her that I didn't see the benefit of volunteering and thought it was absurd. She started telling me about how she volunteers and fosters people who don't have the necessary supplies for their pets. This stimulated conservation, which inspired me to follow suit. Volunteering provided me with a new perspective on life. In Tallulah and Lake Providence, Louisiana, I began helping at Delta Animal Hospital. I instantly fell in love with the people and animals in my town. I was able to see a funnier side than I had previously. After the summer, I faced a variety of issues that led to my despair. I had to witness the separation of a close family member at that time. That includes the state of my living situation. I kept up my efforts and endurance. I began to participate in school groups. National Beta Club, 4-H, Theatre, Student Council, and Yearbook are a few examples. This broadened my perspective on the community. I was able to enhance my mental health and well-being via the implementation of good lifestyle choices and the elimination of depression and stress. I was able to make a lot of friends while also receiving school accolades for my outstanding conduct. For example, receiving the opportunity to visit Nashville as well as being published in my school and local newspaper. I'm glad I put my view of it being lame aside and opted to test it for myself. Due to income disparity, I had a tough childhood. My Great-Grandmother and mother raised me with my older sister, Lavonda, and brother, Raylin, in a three-bedroom house. Hey, I’m Raylon Larry! My career ambitions include being a Medical Lab Technician and a Secondary School teacher. I'm attracted by original data sources and have worked to solve various challenges over my academic career. Additionally, attend "Day with AHEC" and "AHEC of A Summer" to gain further experience. I want to contribute to future generations'. After being rushed to the hospital, my mother went into labor that morning. Prematurity and its outcomes are a significant issue because of their effect on my life. I acquired Chronic Asthma as a result of being born two months early. Asthma is the reason I decided to become a Medical Lab Technician. Throughout elementary and middle school, I was hospitalized. I was fortunate to witness the impact of Medical Technicians on my life. Throughout the process, I learned a great deal from them. I had to sit out during Physical Education and could not engage in sports. Furthermore, I was unable to participate in many community events. Even though not being able to join athletics was upsetting, I could not stop myself from engaging in school activities. I joined Beta Club, 4-H, Theatre, Student Council, and Yearbook. These activities allowed me to enhance my leadership skills, which I could not do before. As I mentioned earlier, I am very grateful for the Medical Lab Technicians who assisted me during my hospital visits. Even though that is a solid case, I noticed that there was no Diversity, especially black men in the field. As I grew older, I realized that I could be the necessary change. Seeing so many White men and women and so few people of color, both on television and in person, made me wonder if it was something meant for me. Being a Black Medical Lab Technician will inspire future generations and help cure my inner child's dissatisfaction with the lack of representation. "HIGH SCHOOL IS GOING TO BE THE BEST 4 YEARS OF YOUR LIFE!" said 14-year-old me. Although that is not incorrect, I want to highlight another issue. Mental health has been important to me as a student for the past four years. Throughout my first and second years, I dealt with various problems that contributed to depression. During that moment, I had to witness the separation of my intermediate family. Along with that, the state of my living circumstances. I persisted in my efforts and perseverance. As a result of my experiences with the Coronavirus and Virtual Learning, I developed Anxiety and had to deal with the repercussions. In January 2022, I established "A Tap Away From A Healthy Tomorrow Today," which I delivered to Baton Rouge in February 2022 and Nashville in July 2022. ''A Tap Away From A Healthy Tomorrow Today'' is an app that I used and created to demonstrate how kids with health challenges may cope during difficult times. As part of the Congressional App Challenge in 2023, this software will soon be presented to the Louisiana State Legislature. Despite being a very fortunate student, I had a difficult childhood due to income inequality. My Great-Grandmother and mother reared me in a three-bedroom house with my older sister, Lavonda, and brother, Raylin. My mother and grandmother would skip meals so my siblings and I could eat. Due to extended work hours, I would miss seeing my mother and grandma during my primary school years. I could not attend a school with good education and opportunities because of my living conditions. Giving back to my community and underprivileged families will be on my list when I am older.
