I will be majoring in nursing. I am passionate about nursing because I enjoy helping others out. I want to help people out when they need someone by their side the most. I have always been drawn to the medical field and I feel that becoming a nurse is the perfect stepping stone for me as I have an ultimate goal of becoming a pediatric nurse practitioner. The ability to care for individuals and help improve their quality of life through empathy, compassion, and selflessness brings joy to me.
I was inspired by my aunt's journey in the hospital. In 2015, I was told about my aunt’s cancer diagnosis. I was only in 5th grade at the time. I was always scared and nervous to visit her whenever she was in the hospital. Unfortunately, I had to get used to that feeling as she was in the hospital for several days or weeks at a time as the cancer spread and took over. The frequent hospital visits ultimately led to my interest in nursing. I was able to witness the constant care the nurses provided. I found it rewarding to work in a position that allowed someone to help another individual out when he or she needed it most. The last day I saw my aunt was October 31, 2015. She passed away 2 days later. Since then I have dedicated my time and studies toward becoming a nurse. The more I learn about the nursing career the greater my interest grows and my goals continue to evolve. Not only do I want to become a nurse, but. I plan on becoming a nurse practitioner. This will allow me the opportunity to help people out with greater knowledge at my disposal.
It is important to seek higher education because it can give you more knowledge to give a better outcome to people. I plan on obtaining a master's degree in nursing to pursue becoming a nurse practitioner. This can give me more information and skills compared to a regular registered nurse.
I have made a difference in my community by volunteering at school and providing my helping hand when needed. I am involved in different clubs at school that allows me to help others out. Also, for the holiday season, I donated a bunch of essential items to a women's shelter to help those in need. I have volunteered at Feed My Starving Children before and I plan on doing it again in the future.
Being a Muslim is having the guidance of Allah and doing good in His eyes. A Muslim has a kind and loving heart. They also provide charity and help those in need. In today's world, being a Muslim is sometimes difficult because it is so modernized and different from how our parents grew up. Being from Palestine is difficult because our land is constantly being taken and destroyed by Isreal. Our land was taken from us, but we are never going to give up our love and pride for our country. Palestinians have been using their voices to show our love, especially on social media.
Your Health Journey Scholarship
During my whole life, I struggled with self-esteem. I was always overweight, wasn't happy with how I looked and wasn't happy with myself in general. I would get different comments as I grew up about my body image and it always brought me down. I always tried different diets and workouts but nothing ever worked. I was tired of not being happy with what I saw in the mirror. So one day in November of 2021 I decided it was time for a gym membership. It was the best decision I've made. I found the perfect gym that was opening up. It had a women's area for comfort and so much more to offer. I found a gym buddy to go with to get started and it changed everything. I go to the gym 5-6 days a week and it brings me comfort. I made it a habit to go to the gym after school or work. It is now in my daily routine. I changed the way I ate because I would always binge eat due to stress or boredom. I added healthier food options and started counting my macronutrients. I heightened my protein intake and lessened my sugar intake. I also started to drink more water throughout my day. During my workouts throughout the week, I made sure to focus on certain body parts each day. I also made sure to give myself a rest day to recover and let my muscles grow. Once I started seeing results in myself It raised my confidence. There were points where I wanted to give up because I didn't see results. I didn't let myself give up because I knew I would regret it. I started getting stronger day by day and felt so much better. I began to feel good about myself for the first time. After months go by I started getting uplifting comments from the same people that would bring me down. Then from others, I'd get asked questions and for advice as to how I did it. This made me feel good because it showed that I made a lot of progress. During my months of self-improvement, I gained confidence and so much self-love. Changing my lifestyle helped me lose weight, clear my skin, feel happier, have a better sleep schedule, and just overall felt better as a person. I still want to continue my journey and grow as a person even more. And I hope to inspire and help more people.
