Bio

The justification of why I strive to pursue my dreams in acting is so that in a life that isn't always gold and rainbows, we need people that we can look up to and help us believe that anything is possible, and I would like to be an example of this. I do believe that the scholarship that I obtain will help me in the process of getting closer to the goal I want to achieve and go even farther than I could ever imagine.

My passion for athleticism is that I want to go to the NFL. It has been a dream for so long that I can not only let myself keep it as a dream but make it a reality. My decision concerning making my dream a reality has impacted my academic experience by making me not just push past good grades but excel in doing so. Athleticism forced me to see past my position and move into a new perspective as well as to want to be the best on and off the field and track. Athletic directors also advocate for good academics if one wants to play any sport. As a result of this standard, I have started to work harder on projects, start going to study halls, having meetings with teachers, and also immersing myself in programs at a young age and dealing with adversity because throughout my time in school during middle and high school I dealt with being different compared to other people around me. I was a young black man in a program called IB. There; were some difficulties staying on top of everything because I always wanted to challenge myself even though it was different than what my community would do per se. It was an experience of not feeling welcomed where I am and felt similar to me as if I was an outcast. I do my best every day to challenge myself, but also the community around me to create a standard for themselves and make a difference in their communities when they don’t feel like they don’t fit in. While I try to encourage people to do what is necessary, I also do the same so that they know they are not alone on this journey of achieving new things in their families and perspectives on their situation. So I will hold myself accountable for the things I do academically, on the field and track, and as a human outside of school to also put my best foot forward. This mindset has set me up for life in a good way. This perspective didn't only help me, but it helped the people that were and are around me on a day-to-day basis. The things we go through together or individually every day have an impact on our mental health, and me being able to do my best to have good mental health; a good perspective on life and goals; gives me the responsibility and opportunity to not keep it to myself but to share it with people that are in the same boat as me or in a different boat; who need someone to lean on in advice and wisdom. To dig deeper into Mental health efficiency, knowing that it is a big part of pursuing anything and dreams help some understand that one needs to be aware of it at all times. Everything that I have gone through and how it has shaped my mindset gave me the ability to put faith in God; even more, to know that he will have me prosper anywhere I am located. I will also be fulfilled, joyful, and professional in my career in sports and theatre.

I have worked all day and every day for this one moment - My reason. For most of my life, I have sought what I wanted to do but have always had inconveniences. I wanted to be an astronaut when I was younger, like a usual kid, an athlete, and even an actor. All of the ambitions sought were great to have as a kid; however, when growing older, one finds the one. The one lucky ambition I honed on was acting. A dream I always had when watching movies and tv shows all the time, and now I have the opportunity to take it. I’m enrolled at Norfolk State University now pursuing Theatre performance in hopes of getting into the industry of blockbuster movies and tv shows! A dream that is only a few steps away, that feels like a mile but is also just in my grasp. In this dream, I don’t just challenge myself, but I challenge the people around me. I also want people watching me act to challenge themselves about what they believe is true.to create a standard for themselves and make a difference in their communities when they don’t feel like they don’t fit in. Music is one of my favorite parts of my life. I listen to it almost every day if given the opportunity, and it gives me a sense of reality; however, it also gives me perspectives on the artist’s life and how I want to impact other people’s lives in the community. An example of a song that has impacted my perspective on how I could help or interact with my community is a song titled ‘Self Care’ written and sung by Mac Miller; when he said, "It's a beautiful feeling in oblivion.” Although, the song is an expression of one's self when in tough times signifying why he titled the song Self Care. He also was part of a society where circumstances will shift one’s mind from going with the flow to survival, from remembering someone close to forgetting all about them. The reason this information is relative to many minorities and I is because when one is living in that state of oblivion, we still find a way to make it look beautiful; however, we would never wish what we make look great to be the position that we desire for the people that are in better societies. I desire that other communities have access to supplies, education, and protection. I desire to help change the disadvantage that minorities are living. So what do I do even though I believe that it is a necessity that all communities should change their ways of responding to problems of the people with a disadvantage, not only because of the number of gems that are there if given an opportunity but also a potential life that would be lived instead of ended? I volunteer at my local church to help the community, and an example of this is when I serve in different states like NY, TN, and VA when given the opportunity. The lives of people living in poverty shouldn’t stay like that, and my actions to help those communities gives hope to them and the people around them. It helps all communities know that there are still people that have loving hearts. Therefore, when a community has disadvantages that the news will always talk about will not be perpetuated for generations to come but have a closing of the difficulties lived. Resulting; in not having to always be in a state of oblivion and survival, not knowing when their next meal will come, if they are going to get robbed or not, how they are going to make money legally, and even if they will make it to the next day. Hope’s needed in our society; self- care’s globally known, yet light is never shined over the communities unable to care for themselves. The live’s people who have to live at a disadvantage go through some of the roughest times that many could not imagine; however, they have a smile on their faces while going through it all. They give people hope when there is no hope and joy when there is none for themselves; they are the heroes that say nothing wrong, and I believe that if given the opportunity, they can change the world for the better of humanity and I want to be a part of that journey; that journey to keep the people with smiles on their faces to stay with them on and help other communities have the same outcome.
