Hey! Thank you for visiting my Bold profile. My name is Quantanik, but you guys can call me Nique. I am from Pontiac, Michigan, enrolled at Oakland Community College, pursuing my AAS degree in Graphic Design. I recently completed Google's Professional certificate in UX/UI Design.
I am a highly motivated and creative individual with a passion for the arts. My background in graphic design and experience in user experience and interface design has given me a unique perspective on the intersection of technology and art. I am constantly seeking new ways to push the boundaries of innovation and innovate in the field. I am dedicated to creating visually stunning, user-friendly designs that look good and solve real-world problems. In my free time, I enjoy exploring different art forms and experimenting with new techniques to expand my skill set.
Being a first-generation student, I will also be my mother's first child to graduate from college. When I graduated high school in 2010, finances for college were not in the budget. I am a firm believer in things being right on time. Michigan came out with the Michigan Reconnect Scholarship for adults over 25 without a college degree in February 2021. I have been enrolled in school since the scholarship became available. However, that only covers an AAS degree, as I want to get my BA in Graphic Design or Product Design. I am excited to continue my journey in the creative arts and am eager to see what the future holds.
Thank you for considering me!

Growing up in a single-parent household has undoubtedly been a challenge, but it has also shaped who I am and given me a strong sense of resilience and determination. After losing my father at the age of 2, I have been raised by my mother, who has worked tirelessly to provide for our family and ensure that I have every opportunity to succeed.
Despite our many challenges, my mother always emphasized the importance of education and instilled in me a love of learning. She taught me never to give up, even when things got tough, and encouraged me to always strive for my best. This has been a driving force for me as I have pursued my education and career in UI/UX and graphic design.
Financial insecurity is one of the biggest challenges I have faced in my educational journey. As a single mother, my mother has struggled to make ends meet and provide for our family. This has meant that I have had to work hard to earn scholarships and grants to help pay for my education, and I have had to be resourceful in finding ways to reduce my living expenses. Despite these challenges, I have never lost sight of my goal of earning a degree and positively impacting the world.
As I move forward in my career, I am committed to giving back to my community and helping other young people who have faced similar challenges. One way I plan to do this is by volunteering my time and skills to organizations that support single-parent households and underprivileged youth. Whether it is mentoring young people or helping them to develop their skills and pursue their passions, I am dedicated to making a difference in the lives of others.
Another way that I plan to give back to my community is by using my education and skills to create positive change. Whether designing websites or mobile applications that help people access critical resources or creating marketing campaigns that promote awareness of important social issues, I believe that my work as a UI/UX and graphic designer can have a meaningful impact on the world.
Ultimately, my journey as a young black girl from a single-parent household has given me a unique perspective and a deep understanding of the challenges many people face. I am driven by a desire to make a difference in the world, and I believe my education and skills will help me do just that. Whether volunteering my time, using my skills to create positive change or simply inspiring others to believe in themselves, I am committed to positively impacting the world and giving back to my community.
Ruthie Brown Scholarship
Student loan debt is a significant concern for many people, including myself. It can impact our financial stability and limit our ability to pursue other financial goals, such as saving for a down payment on a house or starting a business. That is why it is essential to have the plan to address future student loan debt.
One strategy I am using to address future student loan debt is to pursue scholarships and grants whenever possible. This can help reduce the amount I need to borrow, which can lower my overall debt and help me save money in the long run. I am also exploring alternative financing options, such as income-share agreements or deferred tuition programs, which may offer lower interest rates or more flexible repayment options.
In addition to reducing the money I borrow, I am also focusing on building an emergency fund. Having a solid financial cushion in place can help me handle unexpected expenses, such as medical bills or car repairs, without relying on additional loans or credit. This can also help me avoid taking out other loans to cover these expenses, which can further increase my debt.
Another strategy I am using to address future student loan debt is to live within my means while in school. This means avoiding unnecessary expenses, such as eating out frequently or buying expensive clothes and focusing on essentials like housing, food, and transportation. By reducing my costs, I can keep my loan debt to a minimum, making it easier to repay once I graduate.
In addition to these strategies, I plan to work while in school. By working part-time or freelancing, I can earn extra income to help offset my living expenses and reduce the money I need to borrow. This can also help me to build valuable work experience and develop skills that will be useful in my future career.
Finally, I am focusing on developing a budget-friendly lifestyle that I can continue after graduation. This means prioritizing my spending and concentrating on what is most important to me, such as travel, hobbies, or volunteering. By developing these habits while I am in school, I can ensure that I can continue living within my means after graduation, which will help me to stay on top of my student loan debt.
In conclusion, addressing future student loan debt requires a multi-pronged approach. By pursuing scholarships and grants, building an emergency fund, living within my means, working while in school, and developing a budget-friendly lifestyle, I am working to ensure that I can manage my student loan debt effectively and pursue my financial goals.

To overcome self-doubt, I find it helpful to adopt a growth mindset and focus on the process of learning and improvement rather than solely on the outcome. This has allowed me to view mistakes and setbacks as opportunities for growth rather than as evidence of my inadequacy.
It is also helpful to challenge my negative self-talk and replace it with positive affirmations and self-encouragement. This helps me to reframe my thoughts and focus on my strengths and abilities rather than my weaknesses and limitations.
Another strategy that has been helpful for me is to seek support from others. Talking to friends, family, or a mentor who believes in me and my abilities can help me to gain a different perspective and boost my confidence.
Finally, taking action and pursuing my goals, despite my self-doubt, has been vital in overcoming them. By taking small steps toward my dreams, I have built confidence and demonstrated that I could achieve my goals.
In conclusion, self-doubt can be a significant challenge, but it is possible to overcome it with the right mindset and strategies. By focusing on growth, challenging negative self-talk, seeking support, and taking action, I have overcome self-doubt and confidently pursued my goals.

Sean Carroll's Mindscape Big Picture Scholarship
The quest to understand the nature of our universe has been a driving force for human progress for centuries. From ancient Greek philosophers to modern-day scientists, humans have been fascinated by the mysteries of the cosmos and the laws that govern its behavior. This quest for knowledge is not only important for satisfying our innate curiosity but also has practical implications for our daily lives and the future of humanity.
One of the main reasons why it is important to better understand the universe is that it helps us to gain a better appreciation of the world we live in. Our universe is vast and complex, and the more we learn about it, the more awe-inspiring it becomes. This appreciation can have a profound effect on our sense of purpose and place in the world, as well as on our motivation to protect the planet and ensure its survival for future generations.
In addition to enhancing our appreciation of the world, a deeper understanding of the universe also has practical implications for our daily lives. Advances in areas such as astronomy and physics have led to a greater understanding of the workings of the universe and have paved the way for technological innovations that have transformed the way we live. For example, our understanding of electromagnetism and the principles of light have led to the development of electrical power and communication technologies. These technologies have dramatically improved the quality of our lives, making it possible for us to communicate instantly with people all over the world, access vast amounts of information and entertainment, and travel greater distances in less time.

This interdisciplinary approach is essential because it allows us to tackle the complex problems and mysteries of the universe from multiple angles and to draw on the expertise of different fields.
One of the key concepts that I hope to employ in my quest to understand the universe is the scientific method. A scientific method is a systematic approach to solving problems that involve observing and experimenting to test hypotheses and theories. This approach has been the cornerstone of scientific progress for centuries, and it has led to many of the great discoveries of the past and continues to be the basis for much of the cutting-edge research in physics, astronomy, and other fields today.
Another concept that I believe is crucial in our quest to understand the universe is the idea of critical thinking. Critical thinking is a process of evaluating information and arguments and questioning assumptions, to arrive at a well-reasoned conclusion. This process is essential in science because it helps us to avoid biases and to separate fact from fiction, which is essential when trying to uncover the truth about the universe.
In addition to these concepts, I also believe that it is important to employ cutting-edge technologies in our quest to understand the universe. This can range from computer simulations and advanced data analysis tools to telescopes and particle accelerators. These technologies allow us to make observations and experiments that would be impossible using traditional methods, and they enable us to explore new frontiers in our understanding of the universe.
In conclusion, the pursuit of understanding the nature of our universe is a critical endeavor, with far-reaching implications for our understanding of ourselves and the world around us. By using the scientific method, studying the theory of evolution, physics, astronomy, and cosmology, and considering philosophical and ethical considerations, we can continue to make breakthroughs in our understanding of the universe and its many mysteries.

The piece of art or music that is most important to me is difficult to choose as there are so many that have had a profound impact on my life. However, one that stands out is Vincent van Gogh's "Starry Night." The swirling, dreamlike quality of the painting has always captivated me, and the use of vibrant colors and bold brushstrokes inspires me to be bold and fearless in my artistic endeavors. The emotion and energy conveyed in the painting is something that I strive to emulate in my work. Additionally, the fact that Van Gogh created this masterpiece while living in an asylum adds a deeper layer of meaning and understanding to the painting for me. It serves as a reminder that even in the darkest of times, it is possible to create something beautiful and meaningful.
