If I could give anyone good advice, it would be don't stay in your comfort zone. Life is too short to live only a simple life; you have to take risks and go on adventures to grow and enjoy life to the fullest. I only started living life when I started taking chances. I compete in archery competitions and would one day compete in the Olympics. I always want to push my boundaries, so I compete in archery tournaments, go to the gym consistently, and find ways to improve my nutritional lifestyle. I believe everyone needs to give 110% in everything they do, whether it's in their academics, athletics, occupation, and overall lifestyle.

One of my greatest achievements up to date was competing at one of the Olympics trials in Chula Vista, CA. I knew I would go up against athletes that I won gold medals from the last Olympics, but I knew I was going to give it my best shot. Something to take note of, I started shooting 70 meters, the Olympics shooting distance, for only two weeks. Although little did I know that I was actually doing well against the archery Olympians for someone who has only been shooting the Olympic distance for two weeks. What I learned from competing in the Olympic trials and going head to head against other Olympians, I knew that I stood a chance at becoming one of the best shooters in the United States in the future. I have set up a game plan to compete in all the Olympic Trials to compete in the 2024 Olympics in France. Overall I have only been shooting Olympic recurve for two years, which isn't a long time because I have gone against excellent shooters that have been shooting for over ten years. I have progressed so quickly in my time of shooting recurve that I plan on using my natural talent to make it to the top and help other kids become excellent archers.
I already have a passion for kids and teens because my main occupational goal is to become a therapist and focus on kids/teens with eating disorders. I know what it's like to have an eating disorder and how it physically and mentally messes with one's mind. In the future, as I plan on helping kids/teens recover from eating disorders, I also plan to keep competing and guide other kids to become the best athletes they could be in archery.
I have already made an all-girls archery team at my local archery range because I know that archery is a male-dominated sport, and I wanted to show others that archery is just as much as a male as it is as a female sport. While I was helping my team prepare for local archery competitions, I learned I had an act for teaching or guiding people to get results. Archery has opened many gates for me, such as growing mentally and physically to improve athletic goals, but archery also showed me the appreciation of living a healthy life. I started to learn more about the importance of food and how it can better help one's wellbeing. As of now, I plan on getting a certified health coach certificate and a certified personal trainer certificate so I can help others live their best life while getting my Masters's degree in psychology. Whatever happens in the future, all I know is one thing that I am sent here on this earth to help others be the best person they can be. Whether I am a therapist or a certified coach/trainer, my mission in life is that I want others to love themselves and what they do.

Currently, I am planning on studying abroad in London in the fall, and while I am traveling throughout Europe, I will also be competing in archery tournaments. I am not a part of a collegiate team at California Lutheran University because they don't have an archery team, but I still wanted to play the sport that I love in college. So whenever I was done with classes, I would drive to my local archery range and prepare for state and national competitions in California. I have shot compound for two years, and now I am currently competing with an Olympic recurve bow because one of my ultimate goals is to go to the Olympics. When it's time to go abroad in the fall, I plan on competing but winning a decent amount of competitions in Europe. I want to show all the other archers in Europe that I plan on becoming the next best archer. I already have some connections through a friend that is helping me get in contact with some of the best coaches in London and Spain. As much as I believe studying abroad is essential, especially for academic purposes, I also think I would grow so much as an athlete if I competed against other athletes in different countries. As you may already know, all coaches have a different teaching style to help their athletes get the best results in their performance, but what I want to see is the different style of teaching within coaches on an international scale. Each country has a different set of rules and expectations, and I want to learn what it means to be an athlete in another country. I want to see if their athletic facilities are better than America's or see a difference in training sessions when preparing for a competition. I want to get the whole experience of being an athlete and compete in another country.
I have never been able to travel because my family could never afford it. It was already difficult as it is to buy a bow and pay for the competition fees that I wanted to attend. So when I heard that I could study abroad, I knew I had to take this opportunity and explore the world. What I want to get out of abroad is to understand the world better. I want to understand different cultures, explore beautiful museums and cathedrals, but most importantly, I want to know the people. I not only plan on participating in the Olympics, but I also plan on becoming a therapist. Nothing makes me happier than knowing I am impacting someone's life, whether through academics, sports, or their mental state. For someone who has never left the country before, this is probably the most significant thing to have ever happened to me next to buying my bow.

Something a little about myself is I am giving dedicated to helping others. I am a psychology major at California Lutheran University and currently plan on studying abroad in London in the Fall. I decided to major in psychology because my ultimate goal is to have my practice and mainly work with kids and teens with eating disorders. I want to work with kids on both sides of the spectrum, whether they have a binge eating disorder or a bulimic disorder. I have always had a soft spot for helping people because my best friend Christina, who passed away due to cancer, would always find a way to help someone when she is given a chance to. When she passed away, I promised her that I would help others in any way I can. Whenever I help someone, whether I help a lady walk across the street or volunteer at a homeless shelter, I feel her presence near even though she is in heaven. Life can be challenging; we face hardships and rejection, we face mental and financial stressors, but overall I believe life is beautiful. Whenever something terrible happens to me, I try to think that this is only the beginning. My life is like a book. When I encounter a problem or feel like I am mentally struggling, I say to myself, "this is not the end of my story." I am in control of my life, and this is only the beginning. I know that I want to help others, I know I want to become a therapist, and I know I want to make a difference in people's lives. This mindset that I have created for myself has helped me through so much.
I want to help others not only mentally but also want others to love themselves physically. I am in the process of becoming a Certified Health Coach as well as my Level 2 Archery Instructor Certificate. I want to guide others on how to change their healthy lifestyle for the better while teaching other archers to become outstanding shooters. I am a competition archery player and have won several competitions, and as much as I love winning, I also want to help other kids become excellent archers. As much as the pandemic was a terrible thing, something came well out of it. A new hobby spiked my interest; cooking/baking. I love to meal prep, find new and exciting cooking/baking recipes and learning about the nutritional content of the foods we put in our bodies. During the pandemic, the obesity rate in America has gone up because we were all confined in our homes and were restricted to little to no recreational and physical activities. Now my heart is set on helping others achieve their physical goals, whether it's losing weight, getting toned, or simply improving their health. Overall I am here to help people now and will continue to help others until the very end because I believe that is what God has sent me to do. My mission is to help others reach their fullest potential.

My greatest inspiration in life is to help myself and others maintain a healthy lifestyle. I am very passionate about archery isn't all about physical strength; it takes a tremendous amount of mental energy to stay focus and perform consistently. Throughout my journey in archery, I have learned three things: the moral principles one learns in archery are also applied to everyday life, archery, compared to other sports, is more focused on the individual rather than teamwork, and every day is a new day to grow. Archery helps others live in the present, focus on themselves, and reduces one's stress level. The martial art form of archery in Japanese is called Kyudo. People who participate in Kyudo try to obtain "mushin," meaning "no-mind". All archers try to be in the state of "no-mind" because it helps us reach a mental state where the mind and body become one.
Due to archery, I am always trying to better myself. I train and train until I can no longer shoot, and now I am so in love with this sport that I want to compete in the Olympics. I want to travel and shoot in different countries, compete with other excellent archers, and become one of the greatest shooters in history. I am driven to compete in the Olympics, but I know I have a long way to go and that I need to make sacrifices. I use to never go to the gym, and now I go to the gym daily. I even drag some of my friends to go because it feels amazing sweating and pushing your limits. I want to fit and strong and love my body even more than I already do, and I might as well share this feeling with my friends. I even brought my roommates and my boyfriend to learn the basics of archery, and now they want to shoot more.
Even though I go to the gym and the archery range daily, nothing is possible if I didn't improve my nutrition. I started meal prepping and learning new recipes at home during the pandemic. Now I constantly read health articles about supplements, organic foods, and nutritional facts that help the body feel replenished. I am also planning on becoming a Certified Health Coach because I want to help others love their bodies, change their lifestyle forever, and make an impact in the world by lowering the obesity rates in America.
