The most important equation I've ever learned is that a growth mindset combined with effort equals success. Ever since I first heard that sentence, I've strived to live by it. I define myself as having a growth mindset, which has allowed me to achieve numerous milestones in my life. Whether it's earning the opportunity to play college baseball, excelling in the classroom, or serving as a role model for my organization as captain, it has all stemmed from my willingness to set aside instant gratification and work toward bigger goals. I've sacrificed social outings and sleep on many occasions to complete essays or squeeze in a workout. I try to make the most of my precious time and seize every opportunity that comes my way.
So, how will this scholarship benefit me? It will provide me with the chance to fulfill my lifelong dream of competing at the NCAA level in baseball. This dream has been with me since I was introduced to college athletics in elementary school. Additionally, it will support my pursuit of a double major in cybersecurity and computer science. My goal is to make a meaningful difference in the world using the skills I acquire. I don't want a monotonous desk job; I want to be able to impact someone's life positively with the knowledge and skills I gain. I hope to work on projects where my efforts truly matter. Furthermore, just as I aim to maximize this opportunity, I also aspire to create more opportunities for others who are as dedicated to their craft as I am.
But how will this scholarship help my family? My family has done everything for me. They ensure that there's dinner on the table, no matter how late I return home. They support me in my academics, and they are the people I turn to after a disappointing game or when I face a problem. They work tirelessly, and their only request is that I clean up the dishes. My parents understand that covering a significant portion of my college education expenses is an enormous burden. Receiving this scholarship would not only ease their financial strain but also serve as my way of saying thank you for all they've done.
In essence, this scholarship represents more than just financial aid; it symbolizes the faith and trust placed in me by those who see my potential. With this opportunity, I am determined to work tirelessly, strive for excellence, and use my education to create a meaningful and lasting impact on the world. I want to uphold the values of dedication, hard work, and integrity I have defined myself with and will continue to do this with all of my future endeavors. I am incredibly grateful for the chance to continue growing, learning, and giving back to my community and beyond.

In my sophomore year, I stepped into my first-ever Computer Science class, an introductory course called "Intro to Computer Programming." I had little understanding of what lay ahead and how it would shape the trajectory of my academic journey. At that time, I was unsure of what I wanted to pursue as my field of study. Walking into the class, I felt like somewhat of an outsider. The majority of my classmates seemed to already possess a grasp of the subject, having completed prior projects in the field. Sitting beside the head programmer of our robotics team, who was already debugging a section of code for their robot's drive function, I realized I didn't even know what a terminal was. I came close to heading straight to the guidance department down the hall and requesting a drop form for the class.
However, as the class commenced, Mr. Fritz introduced himself, and we began with a foundational discussion on the myriad applications of computers. On that first day, no projectors were turned on, laptops remained closed, and even the whiteboard remained untouched. Instead, we engaged in a 90-minute dialogue about computers. Emerging from that class, I carried a newfound confidence, feeling that I was capable of tackling the subject. As the course unfolded, I found myself experiencing a phenomenon I had never encountered before. I remained deeply focused on the lessons and activities throughout the entire class, which was a departure from my usual tendency to grow bored or distracted. This class intrigued me and ignited a lasting inspiration to pursue further studies in the field.
By the end of the course, I had acquired enough knowledge to continue learning independently. That summer, I embarked on numerous personal projects that went beyond the class requirements. Additionally, I enrolled in the subsequent class during my junior year. That initial class sparked a passionate interest that led me to discover my desired path for college. Mr. Fritz not only helped me find a career path but also played a significant role in my personal growth. His door was always open, and I would visit him, even without a specific need, simply to say hello. There was no task, whether small or significant, that he wouldn't willingly assist me with. I felt comfortable sharing my accomplishments in and outside the realm of Computer Science with him, and he became a cherished mentor in the field.
Mr. Fritz guided me in finding my academic direction, and his inclusive teaching style catered to students of all knowledge levels and backgrounds. He consistently met my needs as a mentor, being there for me at any time. His guidance not only helped me find my academic path but also inspired me to be a role model for others in my life. I am grateful to have found direction in my academic journey and to have Mr. Fritz's support along the way
