My life goal is to become a defense attorney. I want to accomplish breaking the curse in the criminal justice system. I am infuriated and tired of the way the system works for innocent people. My time is now!

I want to help the innocent in the criminal justice system! I am planning on being a defense attorney. All my life I’ve been watching the news asking myself “why I could prevent this?” I would think to myself if I had a power that told me when people need help I could save everyone.
A while back in my US History class we were watching When They See Us . It’s a movie based on the Central Park 5. Five boys from New York were in a park playing when a woman gets raped and killed. When the law enforcement gets there they just start chasing people that they think can be the suspect . The boys in the movie were no older than 16. Law enforcement abused the boys rights. Thus, the actual suspect or the criminal was already in prison for something else he did.
Korey Wise, one of the boys , kept switching facilities because of the reputation they made of him. He went to federal prison, started talking to a man who approached him. He never knew he was the one who put him in this situation. The man end up coming to the right mind and confessing. The criminal justice system was totally wild and if that’s the system we live in I will not let that stand.
In the movie , it was a lot of things I didn’t like and understood why it happened. I have so many questions ! The boys were young and didn’t know each other. They were just playing in the park. It made me think “Why?” Why did is the Police Department acting like this towards people of their city ? Why the teachers or the parents didn’t teach them about encounters with law enforcement? Why are the boys being held without a lawyer or a parent ? Why are the detectives abusing them? Just Why? I hated the scene when the father told his son do what the officer says . Do you not care about your son ? What does your past got to do with your sons freedom being at risk? Things like this make me believe I can be the one to prevent this from happening . I want to study the law. I want to be able to sleep about the law because what’s right is right and what wrong has to corrected.
Jail and prison isn’t a nice place to call home. Not for the innocent and definitely not for the wrongly convicted. I aspire to be the lady that go through anything and everything to get justice. The word “NO” should and can not stand with justice. My intended major is Criminal Justice but I would get a bachelor’s in Pre-Law. I intend to go off to college ,get my bachelor’s degree, go to law school, and from getting experience working in the law field I will ask for job opportunities at local law firms.
